I know New Orleans is a Catholic city, but the persecution complex out of Saints fans is amazing.

Well, the comment didn't really shiat on them... I like this gem:

The Browns can't run, throw or catch on offense. Other than that, they're fine. (Walker)

I hear robsul82 offered $10,000 to whoever gets Sando a cart off for his comment, but it's not cheating.

Saints fell nine spots in rankings from last season, tied with Oakland for the biggest drop of any team.

Broncos in the top 10? Nice. Of course, one hit to Peyton's neck and they drop to 30th as Caleb Hanie comes in and gets his ass kicked.

Colts in last place? I don't think they'll be the worst team in the league next year. Andrew Luck should be good for a few wins, right? I also think the Bengals are a little low, which is not something I would say every year.

maybe I'm just not paying attention since I live in new orleans, but I haven't heard an inordinate amount of outrage. I've mainly heard, well, I guess the saints deserved to get hit pretty hard, but this seems borders on the excessive.

to me, that is not a persecution complex. that is a distaste with the degree of punishment.

I'm calling it: Luck will be a bust. The last 10 Quarterbacks taken first overall:

Good choices: Cam Newton, Matt Stafford, Eli Manning, Mike Vick
Busts: JaMarcus Russell, Carson Palmer, David Carr, Tim Couch
Mediocre: Sam Bradford, Alex Smith

I just don't see why Luck is going to be more Matt Stafford than David Carr.

That was dumber than usual. The highlights:

The Giants have lost significant pieces from their Super Bowl team and won only nine regular-season games in 2011, but they are the defending champs. They will be the team to beat.

As mentioned, what pieces? Also, have these guys been watching football for the past 5 years? The Giants consistently flounder in the first half of the season and then get their shiat together for the post. They won't be the team to beat, they'll probably lose 4-5 games before the midpoint of the season.

Adding deep-threat receiver Brandon Lloyd could give the Patriots the NFL's most versatile passing attack.

Versatile how? Number of options/weapons/difficulty to cover? Ok, I understand the Saints fans getting testy, as I don't see how you could argue otherwise.

QB Joe Flacco's strong finish in the playoffs gives the Ravens hope they can get over the championship hump.

This sounds like they're talking about a team that's never seen the Super Bowl. IIRC, there are still players on the roster from the first time they won a ring.

The Jay Cutler-Brandon Marshall combo will be hard for defenses to stop.

It probably would be...if defenses had to be concerned about covering anyone else.

By trading for the No. 2 pick in the draft, the Redskins and Mike Shanahan will finally have a legitimate quarterback around which to build.

There's totally no precedent here for a letdown. And dropping a hot prospect into a shiatstorm ALWAYS turns franchises around.

The defense is near championship caliber. The offense is an entirely different story.

That "championship caliber" defense didn't look so championship caliber getting 30+ hung on it on monday night.

The Vikings officially are in rebuilding mode.

So this past season they were "unofficially" in rebuilding mode?

Indianapolis could draft first again in 2013. Matt Barkley could bring a nice trade package.

Remove the word "again" and replace "Indy" with anyone in the bottom third of the chart and this statement doesn't change at all.

'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth to remove all doubt.

Outside of him and Aaron Ross (who isn't all that good anyway) there aren't any. Plus, they'll get Terrell Thomas back, so they've replaced Ross already.

The Pats will be #1 after the draft, no matter who they take. ESPN has to pay lip service to the current champs. Seriously, the Pats could draft nothing but dead people and ESPN will start slobbing their knob for having a brilliant draft.

Carson Palmer was a good choice before he got his knee shredded.

Luck would be fine, but yeah, Indy's going to suck mainly because they've let everyone else on the team go. Luck's going to have some problems going one-on-11.

I have been persuaded by IAmRight's logic that the year before I started dropping 3 Rodgers photos per Power Rankings thread, the Packers won the SuperBowl and the year I did it, they dominated the regular season and got bounced in the playoffs. Therefore, I will not tempt the football gods for a second year in a row, and will limit myself to one pic per post, and will try to keep it to one per thread. I further pledge to branch out beyond Rodgers pics, in order spread my trolling a bit more evenly. Hopefully, this change in my ways will please the football gods enough to restore the Green Bay Packers to their rightful place, hoisting the Lombardi atop the NFL mountain.

In order to start this year off right, I will set the chart trap with some irresistible bait.

Matt Stafford isn't even Matt Stafford w/o Calvin Johnson. No knock on Stafford, he is very talented, but Calvin Johnson elevates Stafford well beyond his talent. See also, Brady, Tom and Moss, Randy.
