Why would anyone do that?

Your laptop is a kind of pet: warm, responds to touch and sometimes your voice, has to be fedrecharged regularly, and prone to sudden illness and death after several years loyal companionship.

/at least they don't poop the rug very often

Sounds like something my ex-girlfriend would do. She had a habit of naming her electronic gadgets and knitting sweaters for them...

I hope for that kid's future that's not one of the overheating and exploding battery models.

I will not dress my electronics better than myself.

Dressing up your laptop so that its ability to cool itself is diminished sounds like such a great idea!

Okay, but why would I dress my laptop up to look like something that walked out of an Eddie Bauer catalog?

Because the Abercrombie & Fitch version will stink up your house.

If someone broke in looking for valuables, I'd think it would conceal the laptop nicely.

Other than that...

Lets be honest though, a thief would see all the assorted crap people have plugged in to their laptop (power connector, mice, etc) sat next to this "folded shirt with a jumper"... it kind of stands out.

Unfortunately your average home owner is just as dumb as your average bugler.

Well that's silly in terms of design. I have been thinking about buying a nice custom made case though. My girlfriend has a great 14" laptop which is also very thin. Unfortunately no one seems to make a good 14" sleeve. They're all marked 14-15" and apparently made for those big thick chunky plastic HP and Dell machines. Even those snug Built neoprene sleeves don't work. It's like a 14-year-old in his father's suit.

It'd be nice if Apple made a 14" machine. Not so I could buy one, but because the market for Apple accessories is always so good.

You know the idea is dumb when even the website featuring the laptop clothes is too embarrassed to post a picture with an actual laptop in it.

The definition of "hipster" is so loose and nebulous I can't decide if this is hipster or just farking stupid. Or both.

I have a thinner 14" laptop that I haven't found a sizable case for, so I usually just wrap it into a shirt I'm too fat to wear anymore, throw it into the backpack and call it good. It's almost always some kind of "I ran a 5k/10k race, weee!" shirt so it's especially shameful.

/can't believe I'm getting a kick

I name all of my electronic devices

... because I hate typing IP addresses.

If there's one thing I want to place inside a thermally-insulating layer of fabric, it's my expensive laptop.

/this is what happens when you let hipsters near technology

To be fair though, these look like they're just laptop sleeves for carrying the laptop in. You don't use it while the laptop is on.

I was looking for a compact laptop/tablet bag that did not look like a manbag, most of them are the exact same size as a bag and look like a purse.

The best thing that worked was a reproduction military canvas map bag.

FTA: The duffel coat. Long considered the outcast of fashion, it has forced it's way back onto the coat hanger of any fashion aficionado worth his salt.

And accessory designers are cottoning on. Check out this collection by Harris Tweed. Called Harris Tweet (see what they've done there?) it includes cosy clothes for your laptop, iPad and iPhone that are right on trend.

They must be well aware that they have a functionally retarded clientele.

goddammit so much.

this sort of thing is exactly how history will remember us. oh, they'll remember our space shuttles the way we remember the Via Appia, but more people remember Caligula's orgies and Nero fiddling as the city burned than know what the fark the Via Appia is.
