Yeah I bet he's going to close loopholes. You know, like the ones that allow middle and lower class households to avoid paying somewhere south of 40%.

I propose we just let them go.

Old white people built America... and now their going to destroy it to fund retirement packages for the wealthy. Of course the next step will be to eliminate "Death Taxes" so that the upper class can be permanently entrenched forever.

Your system is soooo broken.

I still can't wrap my head around the idea that we live in a country where somebody like Paul Ryan is considered some kind of intellectual and is treated with reverential deference by the establishment.

Yeah, I'll start packing.

Keep in mind when planning a place to move to, when the actual lines get drawn, we're letting at least the southern half of IL go too.

You can cut leave southern Illinois if you take the east half of Iowa with you. Iowa City would make for a good frontier town.

Why would they do that? That would imply that they're not kleptocrats that would make Ferdinand Marcos blush. As long as they don't have to shape up and can still win elections, they won't.

This again.

Remove the housing credit and the earned income credit and almost all of these people would pay taxes.
Stay at home moms do not pay taxes, nor do a proportion the elderly who live on retirement and SS, also those unemployed, and those who live under the poverty level.

The idea is that tax cuts raise revenue because the additional money in the pockets of the ultra-compensated turns into jobs and other demand. The last 10 years has shown this to be a miserable failure both in terms of revenue and jobs. So, clearly the problem is that we didn't cut taxes _enough_.

ok, but if you're gonna do that (and want to avoid an armed revolution from murdering you in your sleep) then how about we stop giving all corporations tax breaks? NO more tax loopholes for anyone at all. If I lose my housing credit then GE better pony up 65% tax rate on that 50 billion a year profit they're always posting.

Tigger: Republicans honestly believe that lowering taxes on the wealthy will create jobs, and they're not backing down.

No they don't.

Your implicit assumption is that Republicans want to create jobs. Which, given the evidence to the contrary, is the political equivalent of being a creationist.

The guys at the top? No, you're right, they don't. They don't give a cr*p as long as they get to keep their own jobs (or move up to the next highest rung)

I'm talking about the Republicans that really confuse me, the ones in the middle class right down to the ones under the poverty line. They'll tell you raising taxes on the wealthy will kill jobs! And tax cuts for those same "job creators" will create them. Ask them why, and you'll get that look... you know, the one that's equivalent to that annoying computer-voice going "working... working..." They believe it because Rush told them so, or because they heard it on Fox news, and if all those talking heads believe it, then gosh darn-it, it must be right.

Or maybe I've just had too much cold meds today :P

No, no, no, you stupid lib and furthermore comma. You cut taxes and government spending until the only thing left is police and military. Then you arrest all the poor people and put them to work making ivory dildos for the rich. Full employment, which will cause tax revenue to skyrocket for sure, especially since we charge them rent while in prison!

No, you're right on the money. And really, what more can we expect from these window-licking retards when the educated pundits are just as bad?

Like that doofus on the Daily Show who kept ranting about how much of a Socialists Obama is. So the interviewer asked him what, exactly, made Obama a Socialists? What has he done that puts him in that category. "Well, it's more of a feeling I have..."

Politics in this country has completely gone to shiat...

Today's GOP is the greatest threat the United States has ever faced.

They do NOTHING about the BILLIONS of dollars of OUR MONEY they give to the oil companies in this bill. And we still pay much higher gas prices. The world is flooded with oil right now and the GOP still pays these cretins AND does nothing about providing some way of stopping speculators from farking us all in the ass.

We are being double farked by the oil companies, through our taxes and at the pump, thanks to politicians.

Obama doesn't get a free ride on this either, but at least he isn't proposing something as absolutely farking insane as what the Republicans are.

Wow what a surprise. The GOP has a plan for reform. And it involves ....

1) Giving trillions of dollars to disgustingly wealthy and under-taxed individuals like Mittens
2) Taking away money from senior citizens, the poor, and our children

But they say it's not going to turn out like the other times they tried lowering taxes on the rich to raise revenues. THIS TIME it's going to help the middle class, even though over the last 20 years, the rich have seen their share of the pie double, while the middle class has seen their halved.

They will NOT STOP until American workers are as desperate and helpless as Chinese workers.

The office repub came in the other day very upset. Somebody keyed his expensive car. I think we're going to start seeing this kind of petty vandalism as the next step in the social unrest that is the inevitable result of blatant theft by the wealthy. After that you'll start hearing of rich guys getting pulled into alleys and having the shiat beaten out of them. You want class warfare? You got it.

Dusk-You-n-Me: It will be, the Obama team will make sure of that.

I'm not sure it's going to matter much, Dusk. Republicans are going to keep screaming God and Abortion right up until November and the church-goers are going to swallow it like they always do. People should be laughing and pointing at Paul Ryan for warming up this dog turd and trying to serve it again, but goddamn if Boehner isn't going to try to push this. People don't care. Even on Fark, the budget threads don't break into the triple digit comments, but holy fark if every Santorum thread doesn't go the distance. This year's election is going to be about God, and Obama needs to start talking about Christ, real quick like. He can kill Romney without denouncing Mormons and he can show what an asshole Santorum is by just turning the other cheek.

Fortunately, Obama can do more than one thing at a time and he's got a target rich environment with this year's opponents, so maybe I just like typing. 4 more years.

They give grants to states and other municipalities for that purpose. It's also not a chart that says "This is what we're doing with this money", it's "This is what we could do with that money instead of giving it to people who are disgustingly wealthy already".
