Also from the "Jokes that were fresh in 1996" file...

Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie are getting a divorce, you hear this? I really thought those crazy kids had a chance to make it last. They just seemed so normal and happy.

FTA The gauge cluster has been replaced with a touchscreen

Which is, of course, meaningless since they just put gauges on the touch screen anyway. About what I would expect from Ford and Microsoft.

Save for that god awful lighting, I kinda like it.

I'm happy they used one of the Dynacorn bodies instead of destroying an actual 67 fastback.

The lighting looks off on those gauges and that cluster is not the standard Mustang gauge cluster. I think what you're seeing is an LCD screen displaying a picture of a needle gauge.

I like needle gauges....

But, then, I'm probably biased because one of my first experiences with digital displays was a horrible old Camaro from the 80s. It was one of those with the short V6, which was actually kind of nice because every time some niggling little problem occurred with it, which was pretty much an hourly thing, you could stand inside the engine bay and work right over top of the motor without having to lean across the front air dam, radiator, etc. Nothing serious or particularly expensive ever went wrong with it, but everything that did go wrong was just enough to keep it from being driveable.

The next experience was a Toronado which had even more problems and which I ultimately drained of all its fluids and shoved off a hill at a friend's house for "fun" because I got sick of its constant breakdowns.

Don't be stupid. Today's cars have dozens to hundreds of microcontrollers that have been engineered and coded under rigorous standards according to robust control theory and a host of other risk reducing measures. These are what control the car, MS did not touch them, and Windows is NOT going to run or interfere with them. Just because you have an interface MS built in doesn't jeaopardize the standard function of the vehicle.

The automatic and the giant ugly wheels are what ruined it for me. I quite like the piece otherwise.

The problem with the iCar is that you have to replace all of your roads every time you buy one. No backward compatibility.

Seriously, ditch the oversized Lite-Brite wheels and rubber band tires, put it on a set of Cragar SSTs and decent tires, then allow me to lock down the system that records all the road data and I like the thing.

For those of you who ask "Why do you need an X-Box in the car" - take a road trip with teenagers sometime. You become grateful for anything that causes the little farkers to STFU and does not involve the possibility of you in jail on a child abuse charge. Seriously, the cops take a dim view of the use of duct tape to shut them up.

I'd like that touch screen for the driver information to include gauges, maintenance logs, trip odometers and a display for the GPS and back up cameras. Screen on the passenger side can be for the audio system, controls for the GPS and environmental system in addition to being able to access the internet and for video/gaming.

This. I mean, ffs, they're finding ways to integrate nearly all of your electronics into your car, and all you can do is parrot jokes about a screen that rarely appears in Windows 7?

Microsoft builds a car with more technology than the brain can possibly comprehend: LOLBSOD

Apple puts a somewhat faster processor and clearer screen into iPad: I WILL CALL IN SICK TO WAIT IN THE RAIN OUTSIDE THE APPLE STORE TO BUY THIS.

shiat, people are idiots these days.

I dunno, touchscreen in a car where you have to look at something to click it -- that is, no tactile landmarks, and you need to change your focus for a moment to find it and coordinate your finger to the right spot -- that seems really bad to me.

And LCD-screen gauges -- if this were a convertible, the glare would be pretty bad, and if you have polarized sunglasses, then it could be harder to see than the current deep-dish retro gauges on my '06 (seriously, those suck in bright sun, otherwise love the car to pieces).

There are lots of things you can do with a manual that an automatic won't let you do, such as spinning the car in place or stopping a skid. It gives you much more control over the vehicle, but you actually have to think about driving rather than texting or whatever - people have just gotten too lazy.

Transflective LCD solves the visibility problem. I use one in my car. It's nice to make the tach as big as day and set the others to red flash warnings when on the track, then switch it out for a BIG speedo and sweep gauges on the street. I generally don't touch the gauges while driving, that seems weird.

There are so many people here who don't know anything about cars. What a shame. Just understand a couple of things:
Theme hotrods are worse then theme choppers, unless they are made for aftermarket automotive companies like Hurst. Microsoft makes nothing that will make my car look better or go faster.
Everything that comes out of West Coast Customs is ugly. Ugly and tacky. In ten years, you'll be able to buy this crap for literally pennies on the dollar. That doesn't happen with well built custom cars.
Flat black paint was cool 10 years ago, and became uncool about 5 years ago. They used to call it suede, now it's just called getting on the bandwagon.
Putting blue LED's in the wheels is horrific.
That car will not help you get laid. In fact, that car will cock block you.
