That man really hates Romney. If he becomes president, Romney will surely be renditioned in short order.

2012-03-23 03:18:47 AM
Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum isn't the GOP nominee

This is...Jesus, are you kidding me? Romney may be a stuffed suit, but he at least has a shot at grabbing swing votes. Santorum? Not a farking chance in hell. Anyone with three braincells could tell you that.

Way to burn any chance at the VP slot.

/not that he had a chance anyway

This guy has put his foot in his mouth millions of times more than Dick Cheney has shot someone in the face

You win by giving people a choice," Santorum said during a campaign stop in Texas. "You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there."

Well, a religious dictatorship definitely qualifies as a "different vision", I suppose...

And I'd say the differences between Romney and Obama are a bit more than "little".

These people don't believe in swing voters. Seriously, go read Free Republic sometime. They believe that they are the majority and are simply drowned out by the heathen liberal media. To them, independent, moderate voters don't exist.

I would love Frothy to be nominated just so we can finally have it out with these cretins. If he loses, then they can shut up about being the silent majority. If he wins, we deserve what we get.

I love when the GOP begins eat its self. It will be a Grand Old Party indeed this election cycle.

Rmoney is a the big fish here, hes gonna swallow Santorum.

2012-03-23 10:45:26 AM
Unelectable from the start and just now starting to realize it. That is all.

2012-03-23 10:47:46 AM
Well he has certainly worked himself into a froth now, hasn't he.

You lost dude, get over it. You can gloat latter when Romney loses in November.

2012-03-23 10:48:06 AM
Can you draw froth on an etch-a-sketch? If so, Romney should do it and casually prop it up on his podium at his next speech.

2012-03-23 10:48:32 AM
Hey if you're gonna fail, fail big.

2012-03-23 10:48:42 AM
Awesome. Really. The GOP desperately needs to split the theocrats off so that they can attract reasonable people and start making reasonable policies. Getting more and more radical is cutting their throat because the Democrats are just scooping up everyone left of Jerry Falwell.

2012-03-23 10:49:17 AM
I'm going to have my own 2nd Obama administration! With blackjack! And hookers!

ewwwww,

You DO NOT swallow santorum. You wipe it off with an old towel or washcloth.

2012-03-23 10:50:41 AM
It's fun to watch Santorum and Romney compete to see which of them can shoot themselves in the ass the worst. I honestly thought that Romney had him with the Etch-a-Sketch thing, but goddamn if Santorum didn't just hit it out of the park.

2012-03-23 10:50:43 AM
Santorum thinks he can win the independent vote.
He really believes that.

That should be enough evidence that he's unfit for office.

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum isn't the GOP nominee [...]

I just want to know if he really talks about himself in third person or if that's just an editing quirk.

It's a choice between a retarded psychopath, and a bumbling sociopath. The difference between them is, principly, money.

2012-03-23 10:52:11 AM
This should not be a surprise to anyone paying attention. People like Santorum, Limbaugh, et al. have no use for a moderate Republican in the White House. A moderate Republican won't push their theocratic agenda, but because they're a Republican it will be hard for the nutjobs to get too fired up about it. Having a Democrat in office is very convenient, because it provides a lightning rod to rally the faithful, sell more books, etc.

"The remark reignited criticism of Romney as the type of politician who will say or do anything to win."

Is there any other kind?

hey, being a little different than Bush worked for Obama. It could work for Romney too, Rickie

Obama's SuperPAC must be paying these guys to write their ads.

Word is the Establishment GOP is already telling people in the party to stop criticizing Romney.

Liu Ni Gai: "The remark reignited criticism of Romney as the type of politician who will say or do anything to win."

No, but Romney doesn't try to hide it.

More evidence that Romney is going to have to pick a super derper as VP to try and shore up the base.

This is your GOP. "If I don't win, blow up the universe."

If they had their candidate and he lost they would not believe it proved anything wrong with their position. They would just think the election was stolen or that the liberal media had done the job of suppressing conservative voter turnout.

It is like crazies and the end of the world that is so nigh, they always have a reason it didn't the last time but they are right this time.

If Romney was smart, he would just keep his mouth shut from now until the convention.

But he has this Frankenstein-like desire to be loved and accepted, and every time he opens his mouth more people start running for torches and pitchforks.

Santorum to Romney: "May I pretty please be your veep?"
Romney to Santorum: "Not a chance in hell. Piss off."

The Republican party is getting more and more radical because even the partially rational are leaving. My father is an example. He's as old school conservative as you can get, (he's 72, give him a break) but even he wants nothing to do with the modern Republican party. Those of us who are small government fiscal conservatives, and those with libertarian leanings, are repulsed by the Religious extremists in the Republican party as anyone else.

On the other hand, we know that if we, or they, form a successful third party, we would be effectively ceding control to the Democrats.

Their self-image is so deeply invested in that worldview they can never, ever admit it's even slightly wrong, let alone pants-on-the-head stupid. Their self worth would crumble--most have no internal resources at all.

They'll just accuse Obama and the liebrals of cheating and continue to bask in their group delusion.

It's not a flattering picture. Reminded me of those pig-nosed people from that Twilight Zone episode.

keylock71: And I'd say the differences between Romney and Obama are a bit more than "little".

Even if their actual policy differences aren't all that great, there's still the fact that "President Romney" would be a Republican, giving free reign to the House (and quite possibly the Senate as well). After all, he is a will 'o the wisp with no real agenda or vision except to be POTUS. He doesn't care what Congress does.

If SCOTUS votes against the Affordable Health Care Act, or the Koch bros can double the price of oil, or some other combination of events turns voters against Obama as events did against Bush in '92, we could have a GOP government.

That would be a disaster for America IMO.

That etcha sketch comment was really a stupid thing to say for someone on Romney's team. You couldn't have made a more topical attack on him if you tried.

I thought subby was exaggerating. But damned if that doesn't sound like an endorsement to me.

Yup. Growing up my dad worshipped Ronald Reagan and voted Republican in every election up to and including George W Bush's first term. He held his nose and voted for Kerry, but now he's a solid Dem. The GOP is bathshiat insane and because he's a union worker, they're making it more and more clear that they don't want his vote, because he's a leech on society and not a real American.

Romney has to outspend Santorum, sometimes by 7 to 1, to just barely beat him. There are lots of people who think Santorum is wonderful. Eeewwwwww.

Imagine Santorum is a blonde with big tits and an ass that tastes like french vanilla icecream. Walk it off, rub some dirt on it.

Also, did anyone catch Gingrich's interview yesterday where he admitted that he wasn't going to win a majority and that his goal in staying in "until Tampa" is to force an open convention where someone other than Romney will be nominated.
