Sponge Bob had a nice long run. It is time for him to head off into cartoon retirement with the other legends.

Lack of stellar performance from Tosh?

Wtf. Tosh.0 is one of the better shows on TV. It's consistent and it's usually pretty funny. It's not a new format, I'll give you that. It isn't like it's amazing. But it's a good way to spend a half hour.

Maybe Tosh can stop acting like a L.A. Douchebag and just say funny things w/o trying to be derisive to his viewers.

Every other week do a retro week for each station. They'll go back and play nothing but stuff from the early nineties. Sure, some of the stuff we used to like was crap and it will become pretty obvious, but those weeks will probably get higher ratings.

Nickelodeon found that out with one of their other channels that was playing old shows on weekend nights.

Comedy Central : was ok until about 2000 or so, then it started going down hill. The only redeeming show from that network is South Park.

Nick : It probably peaked in the 90's - but I didn't watch any of it apart from Ren and Stimpy. Spongebob has had a great run. It will probably go down as the only cartoon of worth in the 00's.

MTV peaked in the 80's. It has gradually sucked exponentially since the 90's.

Cable TV in general is behind over the air T.V. now. The reason is : most stations are incorrectly named and are trying to change their programming. The History channel talks about aliens. Comedy Central has become a political news channel. MTV is a reality network. Etc, etc, etc.

I think they meant "lack of stellar performance" in terms of viewership, but I could be wrong.

And the rise of FX has probably contributed to the decline in viewership at Nick, MTV, and Comedy Central.

Maybe Comedy Central could fix their shiatty timing so the end of every show doesn't get cut off by the Tivo.

/That's messed up. That's an easy problem to fix at the Comedy Central factory, but you know it's just some pothead kid going, "Hey, you just have to set Tivo to run longer, man, just keep it going." No, don't keep it going, fix it.

Yeah, it sounds like typical News Corp."Hah Ha! You lose!" farkery that they always do to their rivals. Give me Tosh.O, South Park, TDS and Colbert over Big Bang Theory and Donald Trump Roasts anytime. Also, Comedy Central's primetime usually starts at 10 and ends at 12, so it has a shorter "primetime" compared to other channels, Everything before 10 is usually reruns. I can see how audiences may have declined for the time when Tosh was really pushing grossout videos for several weeks, which he seems to have done less of those recently. From what I know, it still has pretty good ratings, and The Daily Show is getting better ratings than O'Reilly.

Spongebob...yeesh, how many times a day can Nick play that show. It's heyday is loooooong past. I remember when Nick had a huge variety of shows back in the early-mid 90s,

MTV and VH1 are dead to me, though I did watch the new season of Beavis and Butthead.

Outside of that and South Park, CC really hasn't created any good properties in the recent years.
Still Butthurt over Drawn Together. Am ok with Ugly Americans.

If CC had somebody who understood the funny, they'd make an uncensored Steel Panther series.

Hey Nick, I'm going to solve all of your problems. Start playing You Can't do That on Television for an hour every weeknight, followed by Salute Your Shorts

2012-03-22 03:13:21 PM
how to fix Comedy Central's issues - more stand up, better stand up (guys... Katt Williams is not that funny), fix Tosh.0 (the best part of the show is the first part. we need 22 minutes of that. The web redemptions suck and the creepy "ghey" stuff is making people turn the channel. edgy is one thing, creepy makes people turn the show off), keep South Park on continually and shift Daily Show and Colbert to 10-11 oclock. That would help. Tosh, South Park, Daily Show and Colbert are the best things on there right now. Fix them and push them. Oh... and call Mike and get Beavis and Butthead over there where it belongs. It has no business on MTV these days.

Nothing can help Spongebob. The newer episodes just flat out suck ass. This is from a long time fan that has watched probably every episode. The original run episodes are farking HILARIOUS. The newer ones just.... just suck. If you must keep it going, get rid of the goddamn singing and watch the old ones again a few times to remind yourself how to write Spongebob. He isn't a creepy gay singing child, he is just naive and goofy.

The only thing to do with MTV at this point is nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

The downturn in Nick's audience is going to reverse itself in about 2 weeks.

images.wikia.com

Nick's problem is that they've bet too much on shows tht haven't panned out becasue of the horrible quality, like new Voltron and that Idiotic 'Teen Iron Man' eries that came out after the first movie. Kora's got plety of interest and legs to turn things around, despite how the live action Airbender film went.

That's definitely annoying when I've DVR'd a show I like, but I will say that I never would've watched Tosh.0 except for there was always about a minute of it stuck on the beginning of the Daily Show recording, and I found enough of these little bites funny that we gave it a try.

It isn't always great and I definitely turn away cringing at times, but I think he's a funny dude when he wants to be.

Also Comedy Central, give me more silly Japanese gameshows. MXC and Ninja Warrior used to be my favorites, and I know there's more gold to be mined from those hills.

Key & Peele is pretty farking terrible, especially for a show CC spams the shiat out of. It seems like "I can do an Obama impersonation because I'm black!" was its selling point to CC executives.

I've never understood the appeal of watching youtube clips on TV, so the appeal of Tosh.0 is kind of lost on me. It doesn't help that i get a Douchebag Vibe from what little I see when waiting for something worthwhile to come on.

South Park is hit or miss to the point where I don't bother anymore. It's too obsessed with taking on popculture fads that won't mean shiat in 2 months.

I think the only stuff I really watch on CC are 30 Rock reruns and Daily Show and Colbert. The only New-ish show i watch, and I almost don't feel right admitting it, is Workaholics. I almost want to hate the show, but it's pretty funny.

jedimk: Dexter's Lab.

This was my #1 show of the preteen/middle school years. I think it had that great quality that Rocko, Spongebob had where parents could watch it with their kids and get jokes that were probably over the kids' heads.

I think Dexter was mid-90s though, not 2000s.

This episode I just tracked down online, Beard to be Feared, is one of the funniest cartoon episodes I've seen. I tracked down Dexter's Lab eps on a torrent a while back, and we still put them on the media server when we're doing other stuff, it holds up well.

There was even a time-travel themed movie.

G4 is the one with the japanese game shows and ninja warrior...they stopped doing any decent gaming reviews since video games stopped being good. they went from 4-6 hours of fresh reviews in a week to 1 hour per week. now they live on AoTS nerd porn (hot chicks for some doofus to stand next to). not a bad thing, just not a video game channel anymore.

spike was trying to be a 24 hour mens channel, since those two sports shows were popular as hell for a year or two. If they want to be Maxim on TV they need more boobs, booze, and actually cool shiat like the Dos Equis commericals "most interesting man in the world" reportedly does.

I don't need to know what a bunch of fake alcoholic young skanky rich biatches do on a daily basis.

I don't care how rednecks survive, or even if they survive.
I don't want to know how to make food that is judged by pseudo-celebs.
I don't care what your fashion sense is, or that you can make clothes in 8 hrs using a glue gun.
I don't care about psychos who dress their 8 yr olds up in rape me outfits and get judged by pedos.
I don't care that you can sing. In fact I don't want you to sing.
I don't care that you can dance. Stop dancing.
I don't want to know about your ability to design a home in 24 hrs with less than 50 bucks.
I don't want to watch obese people struggle through an obstacle course.
I don't care that you found trash in an old storage locker that is worth more than you paid for it.
I don't care that you can't find love.
I don't care that you're stuck in a room with 20 other dudes or gals.
