Brave Sir Newt valiantly runs away.

Say what you want about McCain, but at least he correct that crazy old woman in 2008.

He missed his opportunity to correct McCain's mistake and win the presidency.

Gingrich would lose an awful lot of voters if he corrected him.

It does say something quite bad when you can't correct that level of ignorance for fear of losing a lot votes. Says something quite bad about his supporters and people he expects to vote for him.

True. Look at what happened to McCain. He corrected that crazy old broad, and almost got booed off stage.

His last second of integrity, and the first one seen since his campaign began.

Newt Gingrich, asked to explain Wednesday why he did not correct a voter during a question and answer session who called President Obama a Muslim, said that it's not his job to police what voters say.

Because that would be leadership and we certainly can't be having any of that in the Republican party.

It always amazes me that with all of the idiotic things that come out of their mouths, the GOP candidates can still dance around "obama is a muslim destroying America" without slipping and saying it outright

a traitor and a racist.

IE: Typical day for Newt.

Obama is the only one who knows his own religion. If the thinks there are people out there who got the wrong idea about his religion, he should speak on the matter himself. It's not Newt's job.

2012-03-22 11:53:17 AM
You have to wonder, why does he want the jobs in Saudi Arabia and not the jobs in Louisiana?

Implicit agreement. Newt is a carnival side show taking attention away from Romney, letting Romney improve his game and make mistakes without full attention being on him.

And yet Newt felt obliged to respond to the matter afterward to a reporter:

FTA: "You know, that is such total baloney. I was asked by a reporter immediately afterwards. I said of course I accept that he's a Christian. The guy didn't ask me a question. The guy got up and stated his opinion. I don't have an obligation to go around and correct every single voter about every single topic. I also didn't agree with him," Gingrich said.

Why wouldn't he describe the supporter's opinion as "baloney" while on stage? Hmmm?

Yes, it's clearly Obama's fault that racists think he's a Muslim. Totally and completely his fault

I'm more surprised that he got on TV and said he absolutely believes Obama is a Christian afterwards. That might cause a backlash.

1.5/10.

If only Obama would give a speech describing his faith some day. Of course, I'm speaking in the hypothetical, and not about some topic he's addressed in dozens of speeches already.

That's a darn shame, since he had the time and wherewithal to agree with the same supporter about Saul Alinsky. Even though it wasn't a question.

You reap what you sew, Newt. Not takesies backsies a day later and a dollar short. Take responsibility for the monster you've created.

For an historian, he doesn't seem to grasp the recent history of 2008.

If he did give a speech that failed to persuade, whose fault is that? It's not Newt Gingrich's responsibility to cure Obama's credibility problem or vouch for Obama's faith.

Saul Alinsky is a relevant issue, because it shows Baraka Obama's radical background.

So religion wasn't relevant to the attendees of that event? That's funny to hear you say that, because earlier this week, the Washington Post (new window) reported the findings of a poll that found religion and faith of the candidates to be high priority among likely Republican voters. I guess Newt's audience was special in that they aren't concerned about religion, and Newt somehow sensed that Saul Alinsky would be of more interest to that particular crowd.

I'm starting to believe farkers like Rain-Monkey are taking the right course of action.

The only ones he failed to persuade are bigots and they are never going to change their mind.

Look, it's quite simple. if we accept Obama's birth story at face value (the one in Ayers' his book and supported by the birth records put forward), then his father is Barack Obama, a Kenyan Muslim.

By Muslim tradition, the child of a Muslim father is automatically a Muslim (contrast with Judaism, where the child of a Jewish mother is automatically a Jew). Barack Obama II is therefore either a Muslim or an apostate Muslim (and a birthright Muslim who denies the faith is the worst kind of apostate in Muslim teaching).

Or he's lying about who his father is.

It's one or the other.

All of the Republican presidential candidates are the same as Newt in this area.

Doesn't anyone remember when, during a GOP Presidential Debate, a gay Marine on active duty asked a question about gays in the military on the huge TV monitors? Audience members booed the Marine. And none of the candidates said a damn thing to defend the Marine from the cowardly audience members booing.

Damn, dude, you're just going to start smashing your head against the keyboard by November. These primaries have really taken a toll on you. Go take a nap and come back when you can do better. You used to at least sound vaguely credible.
