KONY outrage last week, Trayvon outrage this week.

Not that these aren't tragedies, but it seems to be more of a macabre societal entertainment than anything else. Let's all join in on outrage about something! Let's continue to ignore other things that we really should collectively be more outraged about.

Well if nothing else all the Sturm und drang about this case will probably provide the necessary political cover to repeal the asinine "stand your ground" law (and yes, I'm fully aware it doesn't really apply to this case, but it was the reason cops cited for not arresting Zimmerman at the scene)

So, there's that at least

I don't know. I think it's pretty justifiable being outraged over the murder of a black teenager whose only crime was being in possession of Skittles while black in Florida --especially since his killer is free and hasn't been charged with a damn thing.

But, you know, you can go be outraged over the ending of Mass Effect 3 or the temperature of your latest iPad or something truly important, okay? Leave us our little moments, please.

Expressing outrage on behalf of others is the American way.

Fine, I know there will be some other outrage next week you'll be posting on Facebook after you forget about this one.

Nope. I'm going to email you to ask whether or not something is truly worth being pissed off about. Clearly, you are in a position of superiority that allows you the ability to judge situations and events through appropriately jaded filters.

I'd hate to be angry at something if that something is not truly worth being angry over. Thankfully, we have you. Please give us the guidance we so desperately require, and we will allow this boy's murder to fade from public appraisal to become the forgotten thing needed to keep from irritating both your delicate life and your sad, sandy vagina.

You can't go calling every rally a "Million X March" and have a hundred people show up. Even the "Million Man March", which had several hundred thousand people show up, was a nation-wide effort. Months of planning went into it.

Didn't they manage to actually ban hoodies in the UK? Or was that some farked up dream I had?

WE DO NOT ARREST PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY BASED ON A PETITION OR PROTEST

Yes, because it was so much better when victims of crimes had to worry about getting charged with a crime for defending themselves....

No but in fairness protests can lead to better investigation, which can lead to arrest.

2012-03-22 03:01:11 PM
And during this event, there will be a shooting incident by the some of the "protesters" killing/wounding double digit number of people.

/bets?

Thank you! Someone needs to point this out.. all he did was get on a petition, nothing else! if it wasn't for this petition no one would even know of this guy's name.

It's coming. The wool is coming off the eyes and people are going to realize we are all looked at as 'minorities' to those in power. Sooner or later all people except those at the top will realize there is no difference between us and all those people we are supposed to be afraid of.

People can be offended all they want, but why do they assume that they know better than the police whether or not a person is guilty of a crime? If there were evidence there to support his guilt, why isn't he under arrest? It may very well be an injustice that a proper investigation apparently hasn't taken place, but these people aren't calling for an investigation - they're calling for an arrest. That's not due process, and if it were done to them they'd be claiming discrimination.

So no, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton aren't going to change that.
