I'm sorry, I see that the entire economy imploded in September and October of 2008. It bottomed out after Bush left office.

The only things Bush did was allow for the Bank Bailout and then get the hell out of the way. I mean, he saw the need for an auto bailout and left it for the next President. What legislation , budget or act did he pass that did what his daddy did- sow the seed for growth?

This is interesting. We have both parties saying 'well, it went bad because of your guy's economic policies and good under ours' while others say 'the President doesn't impact the economy in any meaningful way'. Which is it, Rmoney? If the former, then Bush collapsed the economy and Obama brought it back out. If the latter, then nobody caused it to fail and recover- and thus your entire platform is meaningless.

That's a nice albatross you got there, Willard. It matches your ship.

Hm, so I guess the bailouts were Bush, after all. The howevermany trillions of dollars. That was Bush.

2012-03-21 09:02:20 PM
To be fair, we didn't have two Recessions. He did save us from having positive revenues and the ability of paying off our debt faster too, thus continuing employment for our lenders.

Never go full Bush. Always look to Reagan.

2012-03-21 09:20:17 PM
So now the bailouts were good? I can't keep up with their spinning anymore.

I don't suppose he said anything about the collapse happening toward the end of Bush's 8 year watch to begin with?

And none of it was even Bush's idea. TARP was Hank Paulson's baby.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the Obama 2012 campaign will be happy to discuss any and all of George W Bush's economic accomplishments.

But it still technically was the Bush Jr. administrations call.

It stands to reason with their position that Clinton not only caused 9/11 but also the economic downturn that followed. Bush just weathered the storm as best as he could!! He did his best, poor friendly beer-sharin' guy. We should cut him some slack, he probably saved our country and the whole world, or some such horseshiat.

Not those bailouts, though, those bailouts.

It will be a serious mistake if Romney hitches his cart to W on economic issues. Giving an incumbent President yet another campaigning gift of ammunition is not advisable.

Always invoke Reagan.

Romney is correct. There's nothing to be said on the issue. While I am normally respectful of all opinions on Fark.com, the only people who would disagree with Romney on this matter are the stupidest of all stupid libs.

The Bush administration saved the economy from disaster with bailout funds, which are Obamas fault for being so eager to spend taxpayers money.

Is that about right?

In marvel comics there was a character known as "The Editor" and he worked for Doctor Doom as a sort of propaganda man; rewriting history as it suited Doom. Perhaps Mitt is taking inspiration from him.

I'm going to love seeing him flip-flop out of this mess.

Romney doesn't get that he's going to have to take all of this back in a few months, does he? He's going to have to pander to the moderates and he's already lost them by 1) participating in this War on Women the Republicans are pushing and 2) trying to pander to a base that doesn't like him at all. And now he's just burning more bridges with the moderates that he magically thinks will forget him floundering all over the place.

At some point he's got to know it's over. If whomever has the Teabagger Tard Crown doesn't take him out or drive him poor, Obama is waiting in the wings with a lot of cash and an ability to undermine Republican bullshiat. Romney is playing a losing game against his own party and still thinks he can take on a very strong incumbent with boatloads of cash?

Romney must be flipping his shiat. He wasted years of his life to flame out like this. Even if he wasn't being attacked by members of his party, he would still fark up this magnificently. If he had any sense, he would Etch a Sketch his advisors for allowing him to act like this and find somebody new. He's obviously not capable of running a campaign, much less the presidency.

It seems Socialism under Bush is now considered good.

2012-03-21 11:36:55 PM
If he means "almost entirely and completely created it" then yes.

But it's all part of the republican long plan to drive us back to fuedalism anyway.

First was the destruction of the fairness doctrine. Then the move of our economy into a Debt based economy, thanks to Reaganism. They sold America the idea that your debt = wealth, that equity = money. They drove us into recessions and near crashes multiple times while they figured out how the ultra-wealthy can siphon the wealth out of the middle class without most people noticing. The American people called for campaign finance reform(IE: limiting it), but what we got instead was Citizens United, so that giant corporations and old money can straight up buy their politicians now.

So what do nearly 30 years of GOP destruction bring America to?

A tiny uber class which owns 98% of America.
A middle class that is basically 3 people per city anymore.
And everyone else, with virtually nothing.

Thanks GOP, you didn't only Fail America, you failed humanity. You are terrible, awful, horrible people, who believe in terrible, hideous things.

Does ANYONE realize that with the tax and other programs in place since FDR was president, it's actually impossible to have "another" Great Depression?

Not that the bankers and Wall Street fatcats aren't trying their goddamnedest, of course, but it's just not possible to have a Depression in exactly that way.
