netweavr: Reading the report, the league isn't done yet. Individual punishments for 22 to 27 defensive players are in the works and they called out Vilma by name as being the guy who put $10k on Favre's head.

Then there's this bit:
Commissioner Goodell said he will give close attention to the extent to which Coach Williams cooperates with the NFL in any further proceedings.

Basically stating that Williams cooperates or he's getting a lifetime-ban.

This isn't going to stop. Redskins are next. Anyone touched by Williams is going to get hit.

So the Saint's defense is going to get banned for the year. The Skins also have a chance of losing defensive players.

Oddly enough, I'm okay with all of this. Here's to hoping Williams sings like a canary.

2012-03-21 01:52:10 PM

WTF Indeed: So the Jets traded a 4th round pick for a fullback/wildcat QB who is a good clubhouse guy, and is a solid citizen. But because it's Tim Tebow we get to hear "OMG TEBOW SHOULD START OVER SANCHEZ" stories for the next 6 months.

The good news is now Tebow's playing in the New York media market.

So, yeah, this will hardly be talked about at all.

I can't get the cap off!: FarkinCyclop: REPORT: A SECOND TEBOW PASS HAS HIT THE SOUTH END ZONE!

You must be a truther.

The idea of Tebow completing two touchdown passes isn't supported by any scientific evidence.

He said the pass hit the end zone. There's no telling where the receiver was.

Marine1: When's the Saints banhammer thread showing up? Hurry up modmins.

Yes. Watching Gregg Williams go down in flames is much more entertaining than a thread about some mediocre back-up going to play back-up to a mediocre QB on a mediocre Jets team.

dirty_bird18: IanMoone: Actually when I think about this, they already had run the "Wildcat" before in NY. I remember the time when Sanchez got spooked at the line.

If Rex plays it right, they'll have Tebow on the field more often than not. The defense won't know if Tebow will get a backward pass to setup a Tebow forward pass. Or worse, a backward pass back to Sanchez on a weird extended flea flicker style play.

Kind of how LaDamian was used during the highwatermark of his career. LDT's thrown 7 TD passes. Got 3 in one year.

You mean like this..

T.rex: Its like Elway is making a statement by making it only a 4th rounder....

Tebow will win more games next season than Peyton Manning. Book it.

It could easily happen.

The Jets probably see Tebow as a change of pace guy rather than the go to starter on the field. Unless Sanchez totally crashes and burns (which isn't outside the realm of possibilty), Tebow won't get enough snaps to outdo Manning if Manning can make the entire season. Tebow will, however, almost certainly get lots of snaps in critical situations like he did his freshman year at Florida and he'll succeed most of the time in those situations just like he did at Florida and last year with Denver. He'll be on sportscenter doing something spectacular every other weekend.

The one with everything to lose in this deal is Elway.

Elway never liked Tebow as a QB and Manning gave him a chance to get rid of Tebow with dignity but he has now hitched his future as GM to a 36 year old QB with a very questionable neck. If Manning gets hurt again or even worse can't perform to his old level, Elway is done.

2012-03-21 01:55:30 PM

Funbags: A 4th is probably overpaying, but I'm surprised Jacksonville wasn't willing to pay outbid for Tebow. They'd never have another blacked out home game again.

The last time the Jags had a blacked out home game, Tim Tebow was still in college.

The Chargers, Raiders, Bucs, and Bengals have all had multiple blacked out games since the last time Jacksonville had one. Stop spreading lies.

Yes. 10 years after 9/11 you were the first person to notice that there was a sports team in New York City named the Jets, and thus the first person to make an in poor taste joke about it. Right.

..the sense I'm getting is that Elway hated Tebow so much, the Jets probably could've talked him down from a 4th rounder to an old JUGS machine and a pack of Doublemint

2012-03-21 01:58:40 PM
Oh thank you even ounce nine pound sweet baby Jesus.

reasons he would be a bad fit with the Jags;
Gators fans would show up and boo every time Gabbert did something stupid
Gabbert has great potential, just needs confidence. He was never meant to play last year and wasn't ready. Hopefully he will be this year.
The team didn't want him. They're Gabbert's team.
Management didn't want him. Khan knew Gene Smith wanted nothing to do with him, and finally decided to stick to business and let Smith handle recruitment.
Season ticket holders would have revolted.
The whole thing would have brought more negative press to Jacksonville, which does not need any more negative press. For chrissake, people act like we black out every game when that hasn't happened in two years.

I wish Tebow nothing but luck with the Jets, though. It would have been too big of a clusterfark if he came to Jax.

There's no "for once" about it since we've been doing those two things for a few years now.
