I have to say after reading for several hours all the comments and articles about what has happened to your dart club, that I am in shock and saddened. I ran into the article by mishap, surfing the net on darts as Im looking for a dart board for my garage. When surfing I see an article about a Dino M Zaffina. I said to myself hey I know a Dino M Zaffina. He was my bestest of best friends in grammar school and in high school. I knew what the M stood for Martin. I always thought it was cool being named after Dean Martin. We also shared the same birthdate. I was there in Verdugo Park in Glendale at a cub scout picnic event outing when the news of his fathers demise came in. Dino was quickly asked to return home where he lived up in the Woodlands. I can still remember the funeral for his father with the US flag draped over the casket. I believe he was in the Navy. I can still see his black and white photo on the fireplace mantle. It was a sad day but our friendship continued and were best of friends for many years.I can remember when Dino and I got these cool Adidas sweats and Adidas shoes. No one had Adidas back in 1971. We were the envy of all. I remember well his mothers passing and her funeral as well. Dino's mother was like a mother to me and to all of us young boys. She made the best Italian pizza's. Always in the kitchen cooking. She often would bring pizzas to feed the whole school. What a treat that was.I can see and hear her very clearly.After high school we remained friends for about 5 or 6 years as we started to find our ways into life. I sat next to his sister at an Angel game about 18 years ago. We never discussed Dino. Not sure why. I had heard rumor that he was a door man "bouncer" at Hard Rock cafe in Beverly Hills. Dino as I remember was an organized person always searching for a venture. I remember he started teaching tennis, then a boxing club and had his hands in a lot of things.He didnt go to college or at least a formal institution that I knew of. Dont know where he attained his "law degree". Maybe Glendale School of Law a do it yourself law school. Ive always wanted to rekindle our friendship but as time passes the years go quickly and then we dont know where to find each other.

To read of all the lawsuits from Target, to the studios etc. I couldnt believe what I was reading. I still dont want to believe it and want to give my old friend the benefit of believing there are two sides to everything. I just googled and all of this horrible articles came up. If it is true that my old friend has turned into this suit opportunist person I am deeply saddened. I would of never thought he would of turned out to be like this. His mother would be appalled and his father and his uncle Ed (whom my mother and sister worked for) would be ashamed. They were very proud traditional ol school Italians but were very moral. Dino's whole family life was based on high moral standards. What could of happened? It is possible that being fatherless at 8 and by 22 motherless had some serious psychological effects. I dont know.
