If only TV Carl were half as interesting as comic book Carl...

He's better than Jake Lloyd. If he lets loose a "YIPPEE," though, all bets are off.

The real sad part is that the kid in the book is seven and has five times the intelligence and common sense of his twelve-year-old counterpart.

I'm sorry but shouldn't ALL the characters embrace the concept of `LOOKING BEHIND YOU EVERY FEW F**KIN' SECONDS' when the walking dead are like walking around everywhere?

***SPOILERS***

Hey, he got Dale killed, so he's all right by me. I'm sure Dale would be a perfectly nice person to know in the regular world, but in the Zombie Apocalypse he's going to get you jumped my Mr. Dead. "Yeah, let's let the guy roam free who's from the group that enjoys rape, murder, arson, and rape."

She very well might, and i know a lot of viewers feel the same, but I don't want her to die. I know she's manipulative and unlikeable, but her coontness adds to the show.

Sure, Shane went a little batty there, but I still think he was far more responsible for the group's survival than any one else.

I was very glad when Dale got munched. I was pissed Carl was responsible for another group death, but I blame Lori and her preference of clean laundry over group protection.

This times a hundred. shiat, she is responsible for his death considering she revved Rick up for the confrontation in the previous episode then goes and basically tells Shane that what they had before WAS in fact great but with Rick here.....

/they are on a farm, why didn't anyone have some kind of axe? You already identified the sound and ammunition problem with guns in a previous episode, yet no one thought to have a long handled axe, or fashion together some kind spear? No, we will just keep using knives.

//Even a regular old sledge hammer would work.

Don't get me wrong, after a day of killing zombies, it's nice to be able to slip into a clean pair of boxers. Of course, I'd much prefer everyone in my group be capable of blowing the head off the zombie that's about to eat me.

Lori's rant about laundry was one of the most idiotic things I've seen on tv in a while.

Considering we're talking about a bunch of guys who can't use flashlights (or do 3 point turns), deficiencies in parenting skills don't surprise me.

Also, why haven't you Mad-Max'ed your cars yet?

/Gets in the way of the product placement?

No, that was Dale. He got killed because he was too busy staring at a mutilated cow instead of thinking "hey, here is a shredded cow, I should be very careful to look around for what did this"

/they all have the survival instinct of a gnat. Even Shane. His solution of shoot everything in sight would work fine until you run out of ammo or draw a large herd...like what happened.

I would thinking mad-maxing cars should take second priority behind fortifying the damn farm. They had how long to sit on their asses and look angsty? Surely with a large party such as theirs, and only needing two people to go on supply runs, they had time to dig a trench around the farm house, or a designated stronghold of some sort. Its not like the zombies can bloody climb.

/I do enjoy the show, but damn, for as much as everyone says the world they knew is gone they sure as hell don't act like it.

Ok, I missed a couple of episodes earlier this season. Was Shane going a bit batty because of the stress, or was it the infection?

As Rick stated, they're all infected, was Shane developing aggressive symptoms because of the infection? Kind of like Rick's outburst at the end, where he sounded an awful lot like Shane?

Depends on how many supply runs you have to make to do that. Then again, in the past their idea of "supply run" has been borderline suicidal anyway. There's generally not enough welding and building going on, considering that we're not talking about a bunch of suburban hipsters here who wouldn't know to hold a hammer.

/Then again, even they would probably "upcycle" something

My guess is just bad writing. They should've killed him earlier, but I guess they didn't have the time due to the first season being so short.

/Should get some UK writers, they know how to handle that

The only effects of the infection is that if the brain is intact at death they come back zombified. Shane as going batty because he never stopped struggling with being suddenly pushed out of the husband/father role for Lori/Carl with Rick's return. At that point he was always fighting an internal battle between what he should do as a friend, and what he felt entitled to. What drove him over the edge was another situation (their prisoner) wherein he thought he knew better than Rick combined with Lori saying some awfully untimely shiat to him. You have those final straws on top of a heap of other situations/events and he sees the opportunity to depose rick.

This^

Its the Zombie apocolypse, there are abandoned vehicles of every make and model available, and you choose a Hundai? Really?

At the very least, why not drive a big truck with studded tires, a snow plow, and steel mesh on the windows.

There were a few things that had me scratching my head.

We're in a zombie Apocalypse, but because some old farmer tells me it's his land, I'm suppose to walk around without guns, and sleep in tents? I'm also going to help him capture live zombies, ever though I`ve seen these things eat a lot of my friends, and I know they`ll eat my wife and annoying kid first chance they get?

I haven`t read the comics, so I`m only going off of the show.

Agreed, like the idea of all the men dying in a zombie apocalypse never occurred to her. I'm not so sure a giant cucumber would provide a useful melee weapon.

/maybe a rolling pin would work

I also like how they say they can't go into the farm house because that many walkers will just knock it over but yet when they pan away no walker even got up to the house to look in. Why couldn't they just get into the house and go to the attic?

The best reason to kill Carl is that the actor that plays him is going to have a mustache, a cocaine habit and three kids of his own, while the story will only have progressed two weeks.

effexca: Ok, I missed a couple of episodes earlier this season. Was Shane going a bit batty because of the stress, or was it the infection?

In the comics, Shane's fall was pretty fast and due to the fact that he couldn't handle living in this new world. He clung to Lori and Carl like a life preserver and snapped when Rick came back and took her away. Because he fell so quickly, it didn't really have an enormous effect on the group outside of the Grimes family.

In the series, his fall is more of a slow burn. They establish him as an aging lothario who was jealous of Rick for his family. When he was forced to leave Rick behind, he dedicated himself to protecting Lori and Carl in Rick's memory. In doing so, he became the leader and family man he always wanted to be. When Rick took that away, it pissed Shane off, but only put him at odds with Rick. When he murdered Otis, that's when he first started to break down. Unlike the comics where he just fell apart, in the series he became a manipulative psychopath, constantly challenging Rick, threatening Dale and manipulating Andrea. His survivalist rantings were appealing to certain members of the group and while they were sometimes right, they were right for the wrong reasons. Shane's only motivation was in regaining Lori and Carl and he was willing to throw anyone to the walkers to achieve that. In the long run, Shane's philosophy would have destroyed the group. By the end, he was completely gone. His plan to eliminate Rick was ridiculous but in his mind it all made perfect sense.

And no, I won't tell you about my mother.

Erm, wasn't deciding whether that's appropriate/reasonable basically *the* plot point of this season?

And I certainly can understand "Team Rick" here. Everything around you is breaking down, so adhering to some kind of moral code would seem a good safety anchor to remain sane. And, well, he *is* a cop.

Never mind that the apparent remoteness of the farm and the relative tranquility put them into an even more somnolescent mood than usual. Plus PTSD etc.

I might rant a lot about them being unreasonable nincompoops, but I'm not saying that it isn't partially understandable. It's just weird to me that nobody tries to break out of this by building something, which is a time-honored manly way to ignore one's problems and feelings...
