//If all goes well, he won't be walking for much longer.

Scary part is that Santorum is a serious candidate for President. Worse, guys like this are already leaders in Mideast countries.

Israel is still irrelevant to this thread. Jewish children in France have nothing to do with the conflict. Let's keep the focus on the shooting and the shooter please,

Tatsuma: Can we please please please please not bring Israel into this?

It's really part and parcel once you scratch below the surface. There's a reason the guy targeted this particular school.

It may be callous to say in the face of all the pain and suffering, but if we aren't willing to turn the West into a police state (and hey, America's heading down that road as fast as it can) then how can these fringe groups be neutralized unless the root issue that excites them is not effectively addressed?

A question was asked, and I answered it. In light of his actions I personally don't really care what the shooter's motivation was, but I think it's a stretch to call it irrelevent.

liam76: 56 minutes and 10 seconds in before some tried to blame Israel.

I think he was more disgusted by Tatsuma shedding so many tears over the death of one of the girls (posting a cute little picture) and demanding sympathy than anything anti-Israel.

Since, you know, things like this happen to Palestinian kids all the time (less gunshots to the head, more fire from above) and Tatsuma posts his cheers.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/idf-court-acquits-officer-accused-of-conf i rming-kill-of-gaza-girl-1.174173

The case received wide-spread media attention when R was suspected of "confirming the kill" and shooting the girl multiple times once she had already been hit by IDF gunfire and was lying on the ground....

The charges R, of the Givati infantry brigade, was charged with manslaughter in the death of 13-year-old Iman al-Hams. He was also charged with the illegal use of his weapon and with obstruction of court proceedings after asking his soldiers to alter testimonies they provided to military investigators probing the incident.

Probably misguided to compare incidents like this, since the IDF guy in question was acquitted of shooting that 13 year old in the head at close range to confirm she was "no longer a threat".

But still not entirely proper to just pounce on Tats' over this, though one does STRONGLY suspect that if no Chosen People had been slaughtered, he wouldn't even be in this thread, and definitely not with the prominence he has been. His disgust does seem genuine, but pretty selective.

And of course, that far-right coont Le Pen is trying to capitalize on this, while trying to appear as a moderate, saying that she knows that ;hundreds of thousands of Muslims in France see themselves as French first, unlike this Jihadist'.

Nevermind that there are millions and millions of Muslims in France, and there is nothing wrong with your principal identity being your religious one, in fact it;s usually how it goes as well.

AverageAmericanGuy: But aren't the policies of Israel culpable in the endangerment of Jewish lives around the globe?

You imply that the acts of many Arab nations like Syria, Iran, and Pakistan should likewise be endangering Muslims around the globe.
But most westerners don't go around thinking "That man at the convenience store must pay for the Taliban's sins!".
They don't because its childish and crazy. When someone does think that way, we brand them as being racist or just plain idiotic.

It doesn't make any sense that the acts between two nations thousands of miles away should have been the death sentence for an innocent child in an unrelated nation.

It's interesting to see Sarkozy act concerned about the Jewish school murders a week or so after he attacked kashrut in an attempt to pick up the National Front (Nazi) vote.

2012-03-21 08:29:18 AM
Huh, so I just saw that France abolished the death penalty some time ago.

So the guy is going to be housed and fed for the rest of his natural life (assuming he doesn't go all martyr before the police can nab him). France even used the guillotine up until they outlawed capital punishment. Would have been an interesting twist to see a terrorist beheaded for once.

To what do you attribute the extreme anger towards Israel that causes these incidents to occur? Are Muslims less intelligent than everyone else, and that's why they are so easily influenced into fighting a proxy war for the mullahs? Does Islam turn otherwise normal people into bloodthirsty killers?

Gong after minorities in the military and jews. My first guess would be neo-nazis. But last I read the Nazi suspects were innocent.

Why would you suspect them though? Even though they have a bad reputation what makes you think that way?

I think its because people are being led down that path to vilify those they deem evil or worthy of scorn, there was no need to mention them at all. If fox were to link muslims to a shooting or bombing immediately after it happened everyone would scream racist news.

Full disclosure, I hate both sides of the propaganda machine so don't think I am choosing sides, just pointing it out when it happens.

Because shooting Jews and killing minorities are their MO, when they go on a rampage. That is why Brevik shocked the far-right so much, he actually killed white children (and this is why they mostly disavow him)

NicoFinn: cc_rider: /I keed. Huge props to the French govt. and police for nailing down this asshole before he can kill again.

FTFA> According to the French Interior Minister Claude Gueant, the suspect was followed for several years by France's domestic intelligence service.

Hmmm...

You can't arrest people before they actually commit crimes. The same Minister said that: 'There was no way to prevent this to happen, short of turning into a police state'

Never committed a crime? Bull. They just ignored the small stuff because they thought he'd lead to bigger things.

Which makes sense. It just didn't work out well.

I am pretty sure it was reported because france said that was one of the initial suspects, whot hey ruled out.

I would think Nazi's before islamc terrorists because they hit a "north african" target first. In france that means the first target was most likely a muslim, so I would doubt it was a muslim.

Yeah something doesn't make sense here. Supposedly escaped from jail in Kandahar in 2008, and then just went back to France, where he basically planned these attacks without interference?

Doesn't add up. Information is missing. Possibly, that the French intelligence services failed to do anything about him before it was too late, and they will end up looking like massive assholes, but that's just a guess.
