No idea where I could say this, but how bout them Stars? They are doing the opposite of what they do every year by starting bad and actually winning games down the post-all star game stretch. The Pacific is still way too close and they might miss the postseason but it is good to see them relevant and getting the fans back since they were bought from that idiot Hicks.

In eastern conference other news:

Winni getting shelled last night all but puts them out of the playoffs. - 89% chance
Ottawa losing makes is very difficult for them to catch the Bruins. 50% chance at finishing 7th.

But it might be pointless as it looks like they'll probably finish 7th and then would play the Bruins in the first round anyways.

Yeah, right before Ryan Kesler low-bridged Clutterbuck, in a textbook example of what I'm sure the Vancouver media considers a good, clean hit, and nothing at all like what Brad Marchand does.

In all fairness...Clutterbuck probably deserved it.

Funny enough though it looks like some people have their panties in a twist over Vancouver and seem to forget the Doctor debacle was with Montreal. I watched the game but didn't even notice that pop up.

We all know it should be Montreal, but the fact that it's the Canucks announcers, it kinda makes it even more funny.

If it were Montreal doing it maybe you could make a case of sour grapes but in all honesty it's not worth busting out the butthurt over a throwaway joke over a year after the event between two teams that weren't the Canucks.

This is going to be tonight's discussion thread right? Hoping Vancouver wakes up for this game against Chicago as its really two teams going in different directions at this point. I've never been a huge Kane fan but he's been solid for them playing in the middle, better than how he looked on the wing IMO.

If the Canucks come to play I'm hoping for a good game but if they half ass it like they have I want those bums to get blown out and embarrassed. Anything to pull them out of this lackluster effort over the last month.

The problem with 'coming to play' is the overwhelming sense oh 'why bother' that must come up whenever they see a battle for puck, and the standings table flashes before their eyes. I mean, I know they all have professional pride (and Chicago brings that to a different level, given their recent history), but it's just so easy to sleepwalk through these games and say, 'yeah, we'll just pick it up when the games count'. I just hope they can manage it.

Meanwhile, the Sens, w/ a chance to get within a point of the Devils for the 6th seed (and the 'right' to face, presumably, the Panthers), get shut out by Johan freaking Hedberg. And that powerplay....jesus. I know Spezza has had a rough go lately (first Zoricic, and now some mystery illness), but god damn do they ever seem lost without him.

Meanwhile in Toronto, the media is starting to call out the Leafs on their lack of leadership.

It's not great being a Flames fan these days (especially now that Sven is back in Portland), but the Maple Leafs dull the pain.

I agree. I dont believe that crap about saving themselves for playoffs because they're professional athletes at the highest level of their sport, no one goes out and plays to lose (cue cammalleri joke). They seem to just not throw on that extra gear that wins games, the little bit of drive coming from needing to win.

As for Ottawa and spezza that guy is truly underrated. It gets thrown around a lot but he is really one of those players who makes the people around him better. Hopefully things sort out for him to return because that guy can thread a pass through anything. As much as I like Turris he's no Spezza and cant quarterback a power play or a top line like 19 right now.

We get it, you're from Alberta and therefore must dislike the Canucks. It wasn't anyone related to the Canucks, most likely just a technician somewhere.

If the Canucks play like they have been playing then yep, if they decide to take part in the game then it should be a good one.

Hey, I found your comment the link!

"It would have been hilarious if a Montreal broadcast did it. For the Canucks crew to do it smacks of "we lost the Cup to them and we're going to cry about it until the end of time". Which actually makes it rather pitiful."

I have it on good authority it was Alex Burrows who typed it in by biting each key. My team radio told me this morning.

If any consolation can come out of this slump, its that none of the other elite teams -- Rags, Wings, Bruins, etc.. -- are playing that well either, sans the Blues.

Wow, a roughing penalty for a Hawk pushing his hand into a Canuck's face? They really want this game to get out of hand.

Elbow to the face of Sedin.

Somebody is getting a phone call tomorrow.

I know you're just poking fun, but I don't know how anyone can watch the replay and not expect Keith to get some time off for the hit, especially the way the league is cracking down on headshots (and it was a headshot to a star player, double whammy)
