Why the fark would an SUV burst into flames after hitting a speed bump?!

Oh, and good on her and all that helped.

2012-03-21 12:21:58 AM
And them bangs them?

2012-03-21 01:46:00 AM
The only hottie in that story is the car fire, subby. Get your eyes checked.

I see you were kidding about the "hottie" part, too.
But anything to get a greenlight, I guess.

And THEN bangs them? Not sure how I feel about that...

Who was driving the SUV? Why was it burning with kids inside? So many questions, such little info in TFA.

Something about fixing the cable?

Really I was just wondering... if I were pulled out of a flaming car, I don't think I'd be DTF right away. But then again I have had the weirdest boners before...

Was worried about who's bangin' whom.

Now more worried about which vehicles burst into flames bumping on speed bumps. Was the driver going too fast?

When your car is on fire, does it make you forget how to open the door yourself?

Another person rescued the girl in the back seat. The father, too, managed to escape.

So, she saved one. "Another person" saved the other, but they were probably less photogenic.

If this happened in China the people would have just walked around it as it burned with the kids inside.

I am shocked that people aren't more helpful when helping someone means you get to pay their medical bills. Life is actually too expensive.

Equal standards - she was clearly IN the car with the individuals in question, having a sexual encounter, and HAPPENED to be able to get them out.

Focus on the facts, she should be registered as a sex offender.

TFA references a literal fire, why would subby not use a related phrase?

Hoping subby decided to go the pun route here on the teacher. Otherwise, not even in my current drunken state. My standards aren't exceptional, but they're higher than what the pic in the article shows.

Are you trying to make a pun on the rather obscure phrase 'chinese obligation'?

Smurfme: When your car is on fire, does it make you forget how to open the door yourself?

Agreed. While there is no doubt she did a good thing, I don't necessarily consider her a hero. I mean if a car caught on fire and you are standing right there, who wouldn't open the door and help the kids out? And if you are in a car that is on fire, as Smurfme said, you would think that you would open your own door and get out. Anyway, not cutting her down for what she did, good job and all, but it really falls short of being a hero.

If the kids were in the back seat of the SUV, it's possible the child locks were on. In case you are unaware, back doors on modern vehicles have a switch that can be flipped on the side of the door while open that makes it impossible to open the door from the inside, thus preventing a child (a creature that is mildly retarded until the age of reason) from opening the door in unsafe situations.

That may very well be, which is why I pointed out what she did was a good thing. But I think it is reasonable to think that most any person in that situation would have acted in a similiar way. Commend her for thinking quickly and for doing what needed to be done, but calling her a hero is a bit of a stretch. Hero's generally do what the average person won't or is to scared to do. Jumping on a live grenade to save your fellow soldiers is more along the lines of a hero. Opening a car door on a car that has just caught fire is commendable, but nothing that the majority of us wouldn't have done.

I took that part as a shot against socialized medicine, implying that it is to the benefit of the average person not to provide medical assistance to a stranger because then they would be paying, albeit indirectly, for that stranger's medical care.
