I remember back in like, 2005 when Dan Patrick had a full-on mental breakdown on air, this over not being nominated for a talk show award (I don't think it was a Marconi though, but maybe even bigger?)

His producer had to shut his show down for a few, Dan was on a "I'm Dan Patrick and I'm the most important non-athlete in the athletic world" rant.. again. It was awesome! I detest Dan and his "me first" attitude, and how he tries to make himself more important than whatever topic he's covering..how he tries to tie it all into himself somehow. Screw Dan and his ego.

If I want sports talk-
Mad Dog Russo
or Bruce Murray (sports and other stuff too)

/If you listen to Dan Patrick, you're doing yourself a disservice as a sports fan.

"Beavis & Butthead are now big sports fans"

Only now? I figured they found Olympic Beach Volleyball and masterbaited themselves to death several years ago.

Ugh, austin has the worst sports talk (Especially compared to The Ticket in dallas)

We get a mishmash of Rome/Cowherd/and Patrick for most of the day and then drivetime is, so boring its painful, talk as amature Morning and evening shows ramble on about how UT sucks and one day we'll be back to the glory days.

Im talking freaking terrible. Now granted Austin has no major league teams of any major sport, but its still awful.

Dr.Knockboots: I detest Dan and his "me first" attitude, and how he tries to make himself more important than whatever topic he's covering.

I enjoy Dan Patrick's interviews, he has good rapport with the guests, but you're right about him getting on his high horse between bits. Everyone is stealing from him in his eyes, even if it was the obvious thought, it's him being ripped off. Nobody else but him called the upset or saw that move coming, just him.

I still listen, but to the podcasts where I don't have to hear all the commercials and can skip his back and forth with the dannettes.

I switch back and forth between Mike/Mike and DP Show. But, as mentioned, Dan's got an ego that must struggle to stay contained in the studio.

I was just hanging out with, I got a text from, I got inside info from, I was saying, When I did X... I mean, I guess he's trying to fill 3 hours every day and the point is to express your opinions, but why not get a few more guests (or spend longer with each guest) and stop talking about how Chrissy Teagun texted you about your role in the new Adam Sandler movie.

Say what u will about Jim Rome, but he's not nearly as big of a douche as Dan Patrick.

Usually you've gotta pay extra for that

Welcome to the latest episode of Slaughterama!

Our first guest is Mr. Sports Talk Radio Host.
Very little knowledge and yet you always boast
Always really loud with your stupid mouth
Shouting about football in the deep, dirt South
Giant, round gut and a big farking ego
You talk all day about that d-bag Tim Tebow.

Hey Mr. Radio Host!
What the fark is up with sabermetrics?

/ugh sorry

The name "The Dan Patrick Show" is supposed to tell the audience who the host is, not the topic of every discussion.

Missed the rant, but I fortunately have lunch while he is on sports talk radio and have noted a few things.
1. you are not allowed to talk unless he calls your name (sound like a kindergarden teacher to you?)
2. He says mancave (my "mancave" is my livingroom, it has AC!, ain't nobody running me into the garage, I do not care what name you give it)
3. All of his on air coworkers are male and he calls them Danettes. Really?
4. Most of his commercials are for cleaning products.

/well for the 10 minutes I can handle listening to him anyway.

I would have thought Beavis and Butthead would have preferred going to
someplace funny.
I've tried listening to Dan Patrick's show, and the best I can say is
"meh." Gave it about a week or so of podcasting.
I mean, I guess there are those who like it, since it gets ratings, but
I'll stick with Kornheiser, quite frankly.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!

It doesn't matter because money always wins in the end!

Looks like this guys head could use a little deflating
Oderus, pop that ego would you?
AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRG!
Oh, did I not mention we'd be using a red hot needle to the brain?
Guess it slipped my mind

"All of his on air coworkers are male and he calls them Danettes. Really?"

Reggie Miller gave them that name, and it kinda stuck.

This and PTI are the only sports-talk radio shows I can listen to anymore (well, van Pelt's not that bad either). Entertaining as hell, and heavy on the sarcasm

i like Cowherd, but only when taken with a grain of salt. Part of his schtick is to get a reaction, which he's very good at doing.
Look past that, and he actually sometimes makes some really good points.

I always listen to the DP show on my morning commute. Heard about 30 seconds of this tool and shut it off.

Tell me, truly...is there anything that Gwar can't do?

2012-03-19 09:13:23 PM
Jim Rome is a dousch to the 10th level. Wish Jim Everett had pounded his ass on air. Dan Patrick's show is very entertaining on tv. The GWAR guy today apparently stunk pretty bad and wore a thong in Mclovin's seal, curious to see when he comes back. Toucher and Rich in Boston on 98.5 were the most entertaining back when they had Crash Clark on the show.. Felger and Massarotti are pretty good too.

laid back w/bud light: Toucher and Rich in Boston on 98.5 were the most entertaining back when they had Crash Clark on the show..

Toucher used to be the night DJ on an alternative station here in Atlanta. I believe, that was his big break. He took over the morning show and killed it, repeatedly. Took the radio station to the stratosphere and, in Atlanta, got an alternative rock station to compete with V103 and Hot 97 (ridiculously unheard of).

Toucher and Crash got suspended for various things around the same time for different reasons and they took their show to a few different markets to see what they had.

The morning show collapsed without Toucher and the radio station followed soon after. They started playing indie crap, fired most of the talent, and ended up closing shop a few years ago.

The guy is hilarious. And, seriously, the one reason I listened to the radio on my commute to college.

You're near me, Douche Patrick is on from 10-12 on 940 WINZ. I listen to Rome every day on 940, and if you haven't listened to it, Nick and Artie from 10pm-1am on 940 is farking great. Granted I have to stream N&A on my phone at night because my clock-radio can't pick up 940, but it's worth the listen.

T&R are my streaming choice in the morning, and they are still awesome. I used to listen to them on WAAF when I was in college. Felger and Mazz are great. If someone isn't a Boston fan, I can see how they can be grating...but I love Felger's absolute negativity, and Mazz is his perfect foil. I'm really glad that I got CSNNE on the recent upgrade of Comcast channels, watching the show on TV is even more interesting just so you can see how much of a clown Mazz is most of the time.

Plus coming up with the odds on how many packs of hot-dogs Beatle will have on the back of his neck during Sports Hub headlines is fun too.

Too lazy to find the link, but you all should find the YouTube clip of GWAR on Sally Jesse Raphael back in the 90's. Their interviews are golden (not to overshadow Sally's tongue-in-cheek banter with them).

I'm shocked that episode didn't win a goddamn Cable Ace!

We get the same here in Atlanta, but with the addition of a series of shows in which the usual debate is "UGA Football: Great Team or Greatest Team?"

Not sure where you're going with that comment about the little ticket, but they're kicking everyone's collective ass in the ratings & have been since, well, forever. But yes, Austin sports talk radio is terrible.

/We can do what they do
