Honest Bender: I thought the whole point of having a Sports tab was so that the rest of us didn't have to see this crap.

I know, right? As I was reading and got about half way through the story I thought to myself, "Man, I sure hate football. Why am I wasting my time reading this crap?" Then, when I had read the entire article and I clicked on the link to see what people were saying about it I thought, "Seriously, why do I care what people are saying about a story I just read about something that I can't stand?" Then soon after I started to post in the thread about the story whose subject I think is crap, it hit me like a ton of bricks: I never had to read the story, never had to click the link to read people's posts about the story, and I certainly never had to post in the thread! Whew!

Saved myself a bunch of time and anguish, I did.

I'm not even going to try going through all 16 pages of comments, so forgive my redundancies.

It's obviously what Peyton wants. He stays in the AFC so he doesn't end up competing with his brother for a playoff berth (or Super Bowl berth), he goes to a 2011 playoff team in a soft division, and he's guaranteed a starting role without an incumbent "future franchise QB".

Elway and the Broncos can stop (badly) pretending that they're happy with Tebow at QB and start focusing on their other offensive holes. And they can sell "high" on Tebow and probably get something like a 3rd round pick from a team like Jacksonville, Miami, or Cleveland. Assuming Manning can play at anywhere near his former level, Denver now becomes the clear favorite in the AFC West.

Makes sense, although TBH I really expected him to sign with Tennessee. I don't know if he didn't like the roster there, didn't want to deal with being a hometown hero, didn't want to play Indy twice every season, or what. Interested to see if he ever makes the details known.

IAmRight: JohnBigBootay: Yeah. At this point though he's gonna be looking for a chance to start. I'm not sure there's a team out there that would look him and the eye and tell him that.

The Jags and Dolphins both might as well. The Dolphins clearly want to lose anyway and the Jags just kinda exist in order to round out the league.

I don't know why the Dolphins wouldn't stick with Matt Moore. He's as young as Matt Flynn, but he's proven over the course of multiple seasons that he's actually capable of being an NFL starting Quarterback. Dude had an 87 QB rating last year but nobody seemed to notice.

Suddenly a lot better with QB who knows where the receivers are going to be and can make a quick decision to throw.

Tebow's main problem wasn't the fact he had a long, slow delivery, it was he had a long mental process to figure out where to throw to.

He was like a kid trying to do a complex math problem by counting on his fingers and toes.

IAmRight: the_innkeeper: Know how I know you don't know what it's like in Denver in the fall and winter?

a) no one cares about last year - on average it's cold in January (PS they're not playing home games, not with the lack of talent on that offense)
b) he's 2-5 on the road in the playoffs, one of which was a 0 TD game where they field goaled the Ravens to death. Even if we want to be nice and give him Miami SB as a road game because it was outdoors, he's 3-5 and has thrown 7 TDs and 10 INTs in those games.
c) playoffs are what count - Tebow could get them into the playoffs, so Manning has to do better than that.

Denver's run with Tebow was a fluke. Denver is not lacking talent on offense. It lacks execution, and having a QB who holds onto the ball for 10 seconds doesn't help.
Denver's D is better than Indy's. Relying on Manning to win shootouts is not a viable means to continued success, which is what the complaint about the Indy teams recently.
Denver is an overall better team, and has a better chance of winning in the playoffs than any Indy team.

I don't root for either team, but holy shiat. Manning took an average team and kept them in playoff contention for numerous years, all with coaches who were subpar at best (Dungy is overrated). He also functioned as a coach on the field. Brady, though, benefits a LOT from the system he is in, that focuses on high percentage passes and short routes. Given the choice of either man in their prime, I'd go with Manning in a heartbeat.

What Denver needs now is another good receiver or two. Royal is gone, leaving Decker and Thomas as the top two guys. They need at least one more - who's left in free agency?

If Denver can also upgrade the secondary, it's really not a bad team with Peyton at QB, a great running game, solid o-line, and scrappy defense.

Oh, I haven't been this excited about being a Bronco fan in a long, long time....I can finally put all the Tebow crap behind me. Tebow is just as likely to suffer that neck injury as Manning, probably more so since his playing style involves so many more violent collisions. Once Manning's neck had achieved "firm fixation" and he was cleared by his surgeon, he was at no more risk for neck injury than other nfl players.

Coach_J: JerseyTim: Congratulations to the Denver Broncos on signing the second best Manning brother.

And this is what happens when Sports stories get posted on the general tab.

Mark my words: Tim Tebow will become the next Tom Brady.

Not that I'm saying Manning is going to get Drew Bledsoe'ed, but I'm expecting Manning to get his Obi Wan Kenobi on and instill some skills into Tebow so that in 3-5 years time Tebow will actually succeed.

Relevant butthurt:

No. I get this shiat in my inbox. That's what Newsflash does, and I don't think guys playing with balls is particularly newsworthy.

And in response to your childish taunt:

"WAHHH! I MUST DEFEND SPORTS BECAUSE THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE INTERESTING OR INTELLIGENT ABOUT ME AND IT DEFINES ME AS A MAN! WAAAHHH!"

Oh, and for your information, my teenage boxing record was 18-3-1. I was undefeated on the fencing team in college. And I kicked ass at little league playing third base until I got in a fight and took a crowbar to the back, so fark you.

I could probably still kick your ass in Olympic-style fencing, which is a hell of lot more of a man's sport than a bunch of overpaid pussies playing with a basketball.

demonfaerie: Is this even a good idea for the Broncos? I don't think Peyton with pull a Favre, but he only has so many years left. Also Tebow is young, and could be trained into a decent qb.

It's not, but the Broncos are managed by morons who have no long-term vision.

Manning sucked outdoors and he sucked in the cold when he was healthy. Let's pay a sh*tton of money to a guy who just spent the last year on the sidelines and might never be what he was, then let's pay a lot to put him in the conditions wherein he performed worst, with terrible skill talent around him!
