JohnBigBootay: Epiphany: You asked why I thought he could be worth an extra 3 wins to a bad team. I showed you that he was worth more than that to the Broncos last year. All you said was something that doesn't even mean anything in the context of what we talked about.

Tebow didn't 'win' those regular games for the broncos anymore than he 'lost' the playoff game to the ravens. Look, if he's worth extra wins then why wouldn't the other NFL teams want that? He's absolutely dirt farking cheap. AND he sells tickets. If the guys who run these teams think he is worth victories then we'll see a bidding war and a high price, right?

Anyone who thinks the Browns would walk away from extra wins because of some absurd prejudice against the nice Mr Tebow should have their heads examined. They'd sign jeffrey dahmer if they thought it would get them three extra wins.

EXPLANATION: They do not think it gets them three extra wins

Yes because Tim Tebow has been available for trade for all of, what, 5 hours now? LOL. No one is going to pay a high price for him, but you're nuts if you don't think a team will trade for him and that the fanbase of the team that gets him won't expect him to start (and probably get it). There are enough god awful QBs in the league that some team will realize its in their best interest to give him a shot, and that team will give up not a lot to get him.

The broncos lost to the Patriots in the playoffs, and I'd say taht making a QB change when your team is 1-5, then going 8-8 and winning a playoff game means Tebow had a lot more to do with those wins than you are giving him credit for.

2012-03-19 07:48:50 PM

IAmRight: If I'm a GM I ask my coaches. I bet there are several coaches that think they can "fix" Tebow.

Yeah. At this point though he's gonna be looking for a chance to start. I'm not sure there's a team out there that would look him and the eye and tell him that.

JohnBigBootay: Yeah. At this point though he's gonna be looking for a chance to start. I'm not sure there's a team out there that would look him and the eye and tell him that.

The Jags and Dolphins both might as well. The Dolphins clearly want to lose anyway and the Jags just kinda exist in order to round out the league.

I don't know why the Dolphins wouldn't stick with Matt Moore. He's as young as Matt Flynn, but he's proven over the course of multiple seasons that he's actually capable of being an NFL starting Quarterback. Dude had an 87 QB rating last year but nobody seemed to notice.

I'm convinced that the tarp manufacturers have been bribing Goodell and formerly Tagliabue to keep the Jags in Jacksonville.

Epiphany: No one is going to pay a high price for him

Agree. And I absolutely think he'll catch on somewhere. But his choices will be extremely limited. I could see bellicheck going for it - perfect fit I think, mostly because brady has the status that the nutters wouldn't be demanding he start to be 'given a chance'. That's what I get sick of - he had a chance, and used it to complete 46% of his passes. We can hem and haw all day long about what matters and what doesn't but that does matter to the guys who make these decisions.

Tebow had a lot more to do with those wins than you are giving him credit for.

I think he had a lot to do with it. Did it feel sustainable to me? No - not really. It's not personal, I'm just being honest. I don't think a qb can win with that style on a long-term basis. I'm just some ass on fark - who cares what I think. This is all somewhat awkward for me because I think tebow has been a cool story and I like it when the hardworking honest guys prevail. And I simultaneously feel like tebow's awesome life does not end with a long career as a starting qb as part of the story.

I love how you basically just repeat the things that ESPN says, word for word. It's like you're colin cowherds fark handle or something.

No one will pay a high price for him because they know the Broncos don't want him on their team at all. They have basically zero leverage. Tim Tebow did enough last year for a QB/media/cash starved team to go after and give the starting job. Give their fans some hope, make some money, with little to no risk at all if it doesnt work out.

I like him too, but I don't know why they'd trade Brandon Marshall for some 3rd rounders unless they don't give a f*ck about their team. So that's what I was going off of.

IAmRight: I don't know why they'd trade Brandon Marshall for some 3rd rounders unless they don't give a f*ck about their team. So that's what I was going off of.

Because he beat a woman the day they traded him. Dude has to be locker room cancer, not only that but a serious liability to do hard prison time in the next 5 years or at the very least be suspended by the NFL for a year. Not for that incident, but for whatever crazy shiat happens next. They found a team they knew would take a chance on him, problems and all, because of Cutler.

2012-03-19 08:07:25 PM
I'm not even going to try going through all 16 pages of comments, so forgive my redundancies.

It's obviously what Peyton wants. He stays in the AFC so he doesn't end up competing with his brother for a playoff berth (or Super Bowl berth), he goes to a 2011 playoff team in a soft division, and he's guaranteed a starting role without an incumbent "future franchise QB".

Elway and the Broncos can stop (badly) pretending that they're happy with Tebow at QB and start focusing on their other offensive holes. And they can sell "high" on Tebow and probably get something like a 3rd round pick from a team like Jacksonville, Miami, or Cleveland. Assuming Manning can play at anywhere near his former level, Denver now becomes the clear favorite in the AFC West.

Makes sense, although TBH I really expected him to sign with Tennessee. I don't know if he didn't like the roster there, didn't want to deal with being a hometown hero, didn't want to play Indy twice every season, or what. Interested to see if he ever makes the details known.

Not in the NFL's eyes. If they thought it was a legit problem, then he'd probably already be suspended for the next half-season, especially with his record.

Oh, and for your information, my teenage boxing record was 18-3-1. I was undefeated on the fencing team in college. And I kicked ass at little league playing third base until I got in a fight and took a crowbar to the back, so fark you.

I could probably still kick your ass in Olympic-style fencing, which is a hell of lot more of a man's sport than a bunch of overpaid pussies playing with a basketball.

I think I understand why they took a crowbar to your back....

As a Chefs fan I am undisturbed.
His receivers will need a year and a half to learn which routes to run and when.
Also the Chefs secondary will be awesome next year.

/just happy we won't give up six hundred yards rushing in one game again this year.

2012-03-19 08:15:13 PM

Coco LaFemme: I don't have a dog in this hunt since I'm not a fan of football, but if Manning's injury last season was severe enough to keep him from playing at all, to the point of the team having to release him because they couldn't afford to pay him anymore....why didn't he just retire? He's got MVP's, he got a ring....what more does he need to prove?

To reach the level that hall-of-fame pro athletes play at, they need an insane amount of competitive fire in their bellies. That competitiveness is needed for a quarterback to become "Peyton Manning".

But humans can't turn that kind of drive on and off. They compete on the field, but then they compete at the bargaining table at contract time, and they compete near the ends of their careers. They fight fight against the dying of the light. To those of us without that fire, it seems stupid to keep competing at that stage of their careers, but guys like Favre and Montana and Manning can't walk away from the battlefield. They have to be carried off on their shields.

In point of fact the vast majority of FARK News Flashes are about world shaking events that have real importance, unlike these last couple of RightGuard scented fluff pieces.

Yeah, but let's be honest, you guys have been saying that for a while now. Like, years. I hope skeletor's death allows the Raiders to improve some. They've been so bad for so long it's not even fun to hate them anymore. I just feel badly for them, and I say this as a long-time Donk fan.

Manning to Denver? Un-farking-believable.

I believe that oakland is back on the right track....Our new GM is doing great and we have the broncos old defensive coordinator as coach....it should make for some interesting games. I wouldn't necessarily call us bad here now....just below average....8-8 the last 2 season sucks.... but it's better than 2003 thru 2009 seasons, my god that was terrible football...we are making alot of low key free agency moves. I believe Palmer has alot of gas left in the tank and if dMAC stays healthy...then we could be pretty good. I would also like to see them pick up Tracy Porter. I bet peyton would love throwing into the oakland secondary with him in there. lol

Going 0-3 with those horrid performances against the Chefs and the Bills at the end of the season certainly didn't help Tebow either you have to admit.

The Broncos were simply outclassed by the Pats, Tebow wasn't the reason they lost those games (regular season and playoffs). But Chefs and Bills? He was horrid. 4 picks against the Bills and 3 whole points on 6-22 for 60 yards against KC.

Until recently FARK has done a really great job of keeping the Sports Junkies and Political Loonies under their own headings where they stay segregated and happily argue among themselves.

If they change that approach they will lose substantial numbers as the majority of visitors could give a fark about either topic.

I think what we need to do is set up some camps for people who like sports stories on the front page. In these camps we could brutally force them to do hard labor and perform medical experiments on them. Then when they have exhausted their usefulness, we could trick them by pretending to offer them hot showers, only we would gas them to death instead.

The purity of the Fark Front Page must be defended.

The sports horde is persecuting us and polluting our Master Page!

Dude, you HAVE to be trolling. NFL is the most watched sports in America. It is farking HUGE. Payton Manning is one of the best NFL players of all time, and what is happening with him as a free agent has only happened maybe once in NFL history. This is major news.
