I've heard that the docs cleared Peyton and said he's at no greater risk of injury than any other NFL QB. I looked it up, and he's had 4 previous neck surgeries. Unless the last surgery was conducted with fairy dust and unicorn farts, he's not "all better"...Broncos are taking a big dice roll here.

Funk Brothers: I think the Denver Broncos have become the Miami Heat of football. This is a dumb move and will come to haunt the Broncos for years to come.

If I was Belichick, I would try to get Tebow to aggravate the Broncos, the Dolphins, and the Jets. Belichick has always seen something from Tebow and I think Belichick ought to get him. They already have a winning team and no use for a first round draft pick. Besides Brady is getting old and has a disgruntled wife that has upset several players on the team. It would reinforce Belichick as a coach you don't want to fark with. Think of Brady as Joe Montana and Tebow as Steve Young. Tebow has potential and can win a Super Bowl unlike Philip Rivers or Carson Palmer.

This is a poor attempt at trolling. You didn't even set the hook.

Is anything in your life more important to you than this?

Not this specifically, I mean quarterbacks in general. Plummer, Cutler, Rivers, Rodgers, Tebow, whomever. How are you so invested in these guys?

IAmRight: the_innkeeper: I will take Manning and his issues over Tebow and his issues any day. Regardless of how he plays in vs out, he is a better quarterback.

That's fine. But your ceiling with Manning is exactly what you got last year with Tebow. I just laugh when people think this makes the Broncos contenders. They're still going to have a struggle just to win their division.

Your ceiling with Manning would be his 2010 season where he threw for 4,700 yards and 33 touchdowns.

InferiousX: It was the media hype machine that surrounded him that would garble his cock at any given chance that would make people upset.

The hype machine that constantly said he sucks and the nicest thing anyone said is "but somehow he keeps winning."

You guys are retarded.

Also, stop watching ESPN all day, and bam, all the hype goes away! You KNOW that they put stories about him out precisely because all the people that hate him will bash him in the comments and all the fundies will forward the story on to friends. Both ways, they get tons of page views and clicks. Learn to filter things with your head instead of pretending that anyone in the media loves him.

Wow, no. Just, no. Seriously.

Elway was a great QB on a slightly mediocre team; hell, most of the time they won was because Elway carried the offense. It wasn't until Shanahan made it more run-oriented that he and the Broncs went over the hump. Even then, they could've won it a season earlier than they did were it not for a hot Jaguars team upsetting them in Denver.

Never thought Denver fans could be this retarded.

As a 49ers fan, I am certainly not happy about this. Had he gone to the Niners--as I thought was actually going to happen--they woud've had to be the 2013 Super Bowl favorites, without a doubt. Look how far the Niners went this past season with an imitation QB.

Though I wouldn't mind if Alex Smith was so butthurt about it that he moved on to some other team that's desparate for a margian QB, but the problem is who would the Niners QB next season? Kaepernick isn't ready, and who else is left to pick from? And no, the 49ers better not pick up Teebus from the Broncos. I don't see that happening, though I have to admit that the irony of Teebus having to play in Sodom-by-the Bay would be amusing, as long as you aren't a Niners fan.

It's always a dice roll when you bring in an older free agent. It would be just as big a dice roll with Tebow. Can he learn a better throwing motion? Now that defenses seem to have figured out that if you cover the primary receiver and keep the pass rush in front of Tebow, you can get him to hold the ball forever, can he even be remotely effective?

The bigger picture is that this tells players that Denver is willing to spend money again if they think that it will help. One of the issues that came up during the McDaniels era and even after the Fox hire was grumbling that Denver was trying to do everything on the cheap.

2012-03-19 02:28:16 PM

you are a puppet: Not this specifically, I mean quarterbacks in general. Plummer, Cutler, Rivers, Rodgers, Tebow, whomever. How are you so invested in these guys?

Well, most of them are the most talked about ones on Fark, so it appears like I care more about them.

Plummer was the QB of the ASU Sun Devils for the best season in their history and the first year I paid attention to college football. That is still my favorite one-year squad of anything in my history and f*ck tOSU for ruining the original comeback drive.

Cutler I just don't like because he took Plummer's job while the Broncos were still in playoff position, with Shanahan saying "It's not about making the playoffs, it's about winning the Super Bowl." It makes me laugh that Shanahan has yet to make the playoffs since that decision and comment. Cutler was also a whiny c*nt against San Diego and a whiny c*nt to get himself shipped out of Denver.

Rivers I like because he's good and because he beat Cutler a lot. =)

Rodgers I like because I was the one calling for him to replace Favre way before Favre actually finally wound up leaving - I saw him post something like 22 consecutive completions against the USC defense back when USC's defense was good. He's a beast.

Tebow I like because the people that hate him on this site have so far exceeded the bounds of rationality with their hate that I'd rather be on his side. Besides, it's fun to watch someone that seems to be so awful somehow succeed over and over and watch the talking heads just get flabbergasted because they have no explanation for it. Who doesn't like seeing Mel Kiper, Jr. look like an idiot?

Didn't you know that all science is now peer reviewed by any citizen regardless of education? It's the American way. If your gut doesn't like it, well, that trumps observation, hypothesis and experimentation because guts are God Made (TM) and therefore have much lower margins of error ... as evidenced by the overwhelming amount of "Here. Hold my beer and watch this." success stories.

I'm sure that teams will be lined up around the block to have their organizations hijacked by football lunacy. Nothing against Tebow, the kids got talent and spirit. But the zoo that follows him around is just bonkers.

2012-03-19 02:31:26 PM

IAmRight: redmid17: If you base a team's ceiling solely on results in a down year for the AFC, I'm going to assume you're not very interested any of the actual football. Your POV is incredibly oversimplistic.

All I'm saying is that the Broncos with Manning won't get past the divisional round of the playoffs, weak AFC or not. So they spent a lot of money and didn't help themselves except that they get to watch a (if he's back to his pre-injury performance level) better QB lead them to a playoff loss.

JohnBigBootay: I know you don't like Manning but surely you don't think the broncos would have been better off with tebow than peyton.

I like Manning fine. I don't like how, after a year of not playing, everyone suddenly decided he was better than he was. He's a great indoor QB who struggles when the going gets tough. I'm glad he's going to Denver! And that's with the BEST case scenario. He hasn't played in over a year and he's coming off several neck surgeries - repaired or not, surgeries tend to mess with one's head.

And I'm glad he cockteased San Francisco! If they lose out on him AND lose Alex Smith, with the Seahawks getting Matt Flynn....well, I couldn't have asked for anything more out of this offseason.

/let's also not forget that the Broncos were 1-4 before Tebow came in, so it's not like they were 8-8 with him.

My God, there really is no limit to the amount of ridiculous BS you won't pull out of your ass...neck injuries, ignoring actual on-the-field statistical performance, "surgeries tend to mess with one's head"...as if you have any clue as to what you are talking about.

I love Internet know-it-all's like you...in a sports bar, discussing sports, you wouldn't make a peep b/c you know you'd be laughed out the room.

But from the protection of your monitor, you think you're the next coming of Vince Lombardi.

IAmRight: Hard to tell if the first one is serious or a troll, but the second one is obviously a joke.

The first one is definitely serious, as the guy is posting similar things (Tim Tebow never tried to line up under the guard like Elway, technically this is still Tebow's rookie year, why would anyone ever want to play under Elway and Fox when they will STAB YOU IN THE BACK, etc).

I figured the 2nd is likely a joke, but given the level of crazy that has hit the comment sections for Denver media outlets, I just can't be sure.

2012-03-19 02:34:30 PM

And put up a whole 1 in the playoffs on his way to an amazing 16-point performance. LEGEND

With a completely decimated offense, mediocre run game, and a defense that couldn't get the off the field, Manning still managed to put up a 110 passer rating and come within a botched ST coverage and a retarded TO of advancing. If you're trotting that game out as a disappointment, make sure you're talking about the franchise or the coaching staff. That loss was not on Manning. He had all of three possession in the 2nd half and scored on all of them. Only two playoff games since the 1970 merger have had two lead changes in the last minute. One was the music city miracle. This game was the other.

Coach_J: I love Internet know-it-all's like you...in a sports bar, discussing sports, you wouldn't make a peep b/c you know you'd be laughed out the room.

Most sports fans know far less than I do. And the way I say it is, you can argue all you want, but they're not going any further than they did last year. The offense will look better, the defense will look a little worse, and they'll get bounced once they face a good defense in the playoffs.

2012-03-19 02:36:43 PM
