Somacandra: If there is anything more outrageous than law students and their girlfriends/spouses peacefully advocating for affirmative action at Harvard University, I don't know what it is.

Actually it wasn't even affirmative action. They wanted criteria for hiring to be based on other aspects like work experience instead of being mostly based on having gone to a predominantly white college so they could hire a more diverse staff. They were not saying unqualified people should be hired because of their race or even race should be a factor. They just wanted a more broader criteria for hiring that could include a more diverse faculty while still being very well qualified.

It's a very moderate position.
