Funny how Austrians always seem to run places other than Austria.

That's because no Austrians are originally from Austria (unless you are an aboriginal). Austria was a penal colony where the British shipped all the unsavory types. So it makes sense that their descendants have a inherited desire to escape.

Seriously? Just wow... There is not enough facepalm pics on the internet for this guys geography skills.

0Icky0: Repo Man: In my old home town, I was in a store one day that had been there since the around 1900. They had a photo of the store dating from around the time it was first built. I noticed a display of boxes of matches, and the boxes were decorated with swastikas. I was always curious about what they had meant at that time and place.

You often see the symbol on school buildings and school uniforms in Hong Kong. But mirror images of the Nazi style.
In Thailand, you don't see the symbol very often. But the greeting, "Sawatdee Kha" is how you pronounce "Swastika" in Thai.

The 'Kha' (ค่ะ )in Swatdee Kha (สวัสดค่ะ) is the particle used by females to make a sentence more polite, just as men say khrap (ครับ) , as in Saswatdee Khrap (สวัสดีครับ), or 'Hello'. The 'dee' ดี means good. Sawas means happiness or benefit and is used in a lot of Thai compound words. There is a link to Swastika and Sawas from Sanskrit or Pali (?), but Swatdee Kha (สวัสดค่ะ) is not the same as swastika.

Does fark not have a filter for retarded.

I'm not sure Fark needs a retarded filter as much as it needs a "Someone didn't get the joke" filter.

Yeah- by now, there should be a FAQ someplace containing an up-to-date list of Fark-o-memes and running jokes.

No. I am being 100% sincere when I compare the tea party "movement" to the Brownshirts. They may talk about "smaller government", but what they want is MORE government that pertains to persecuting "the other", as in women, minorities, liberals, etc..

Then go to This site. and read the papers.

Then go to this site.

Now we know where the TeaBaggers get their ideas.

Every Jewish person I know is watching the "Tea Party" like a hawk for a damn good reason. It is the same exact philosophy. The same propaganda, and mostly the same wealthy families that are financing and promoting it. The only difference is, they aren't using the Swastika.

Why is it so bad for there to be a political faction who, in broad terms, opposes a government that far outspends its income?

I'm aware that a government that runs at a continuous surplus has a negative economic effect, but I can't imagine one that runs at a high debt continuously is going to fare well either, case in point: Greece. Why is there so much animosity against fiscal conservatisim?

Honest question! Seriously! No Hitler involved.

They oppose Big Government. I have not heard a peep about all this Big Government Conservative shiat with sex and contraception, voting rights, government intervention in labor issues and other things. Nor have I heard these boneheads biatch about the wasted time and money spent on this B.S. legislation and congressional gridlock over said Social Issues.
That's why they're suckers and morons. They only did what the GOP told them to do. If they protested the things above, they could easily recoup of this. But they won't. They'll just for for Santorum.

Oh please stow that horse crap! As we have seen in state assemblies across the country, all of those "small government" teabagger candidates have been doing is to push legislation that shoves medical probes up women's genitals against their will, ban books (see Arizona), forcing the poor to take drug tests as if they were criminals just for being poor, and make discrimination not just legal but even Constitutional.

The tea party movement IS the modern day version of the Brownshirts of the 1930's. Belligerent, unthinking, totalitarian thugs!

It's a good thing it never was used for its intended purpose, too, because Helen Keller was hiding out in LA at the time, and Hitler might have found her.

Sorry pal, (and you just earned a big red window.) ALL of those things are laws that HAVE been passed, or are seriously being pushed for being passed by TeaParty Legislators all over the country. You do not hear anyone but the TeaParty favorites talking about eliminating workers rights laws, or banking regulations, or child-labor laws. You do not hear about anyone but TeaParty heroes trying to eliminate planned parenthood clinics, or collective bargaining laws for workers. You do NOT hear about anyone talking about letting anyone and everyone purchase and carry a firearm any time they want to, except for TeaParty mouthpieces. Then they pass laws making it easier to defend oneself in court for killing someone. You do not hear about anyone but TeaParty people talking about closing libraries and schools to "save money",

I've never seen liberals burning piles of books, but the hard core conservatives in every nation where they've gained political power have.

A: Theres no source of water.
B: The area is in an extreme fire danger area, and insurance on any buildings is prohibitively expensive.
C: It is cheaper to let a place like a park burn, than it is a tract housing development.

Because thats not what they're about. Thats just the face of the propaganda. While they reel in the rubes and the fools with the cheap "no new taxes" crap, they're working within Congress and State Legislatures to enact the laws that enable Police to engage in pogroms against minority populations, restrict access to Government services or eliminate them altogether.

They have tried, succeeded and continue to attempt to:

Sell of the National Parks to mining concerns and other commercial enterprises.

Privatize public roadways for profit.

Privatize law enforcement, and incarceration.

Privatize the Military.

Privatize public schools.

Outlaw labor unions.

Outlaw protest.

Outlaw photography.

Restrict, and in some cases around the country eliminate access to voting.

Indemnify law enforcement from corruption investigations and
investigations of outright murders and malfeasances such as planting evidence or providing outright false testimony in open court.

Indemnify industrial concerns from bearing responsibility for destroying groundwater and soil resources on public and private property.

Permit companies to drill literally anywhere, at any time, and confiscate property they claim to need in the course of those operations.

Permit, and use the Government to support using "eminent domain" laws to confiscate property for the use by businesses who can afford to pay enough to city and State governments.

Outright exempt "religious" leaders from international laws concerning foreign corruption and slavery.

Out ...

(a long list of accusations removed for sanity's sake)

Sorry, but reading a list of accusations that long reminds me a bit of reading an anti-semetic rant. Lots of finger pointing, horrible accusations, and broad-reaching insinuation.

There are more than a few things in there that i could point to as being blatantly wrong... for instance, privatized prisons have existed for quite some time (I can remember hearing about them in the 1980's), I really doubt it's the members of the "tea party" who own and control sufficient quantities of the government to sell off national park land for industrial development, I have no idea where the whole "relivious leaders get to have slaves" thing came from, but, hell, I'll be blunt. it sounds like the ramblings of a conspiratorial nutbag.

Lots of this stuff seems like hyperbolic expressions of things that might actually be true... like, take the "sell national parks to private development" thing. We can directly correlate that to the proposition of acquiring the oil reserves under that (i want to say Alaskan Natural Wildlife Reserve? but i think i'm wrong...) park in Alaska, which makes it technically true, but the way you phrase it makes it seem more like "THEY WANT TO PAVE YELLOWSTONE!"

Idunno, maybe i'm just dense, but as far as i can see, it's just politics as usual.

It's more complex than that. Clark Gable was 41 and flew and Jimmy Stewart was 33 and flew and neither were exactly tiny. Wayne could have joined up and served Stateside, even in an entertainment unit, but he kept getting deferments and there was some BS about his studio threatening to sue him if he joined up.

Bollocks. The hyperpatriot dodged his duty, and all the guys who did serve, many of whom saw a lot of combat, like Stewart, knew the score with Marion.
