I just want it to end with a bang. After last week, I'm satisfied because I was sick to death of Shane.

I predict three things will happen:

1: People will die
2: There will be dialogue that's deeper than one liners about killing zombies that moves the story along.
3: People will complain that there wasn't enough zombie killing.

He lived way too long on the show. And Dale did not live long enough. I'm still mad about Dale.

A couple of issues ago, some guy wrote a huge rant in the letters column of the comic, screaming that the show is so different than the comics he can't support either one, because he can't handle two versions of the same characters or something. He was FURIOUS.

Kirkman wrote back something like "I guess that new Star Trek movie blew your mind" or words to that effect.

I have read every issue of the comics, and I'm super happy it's a different tale. What fun would it be otherwise?

Dale's belly was a bit too soft for being on the run all those months. Even if he'd sat around and had people peel grapes for him, I don't think the walkers are quite strong enough to rend someone's abdomen open unless there's a bunch of them. Remember, he was actively pushing it away -- if it was taking the time/strength to rip him open, Dale would have easily been able to kick him off.

I suppose that ain't exactly a spoiler anymore. It annoyed me, though.

Kill everyone on the Farm! Except you Glenn, you're all right.

Very true. At least they're doing a nice little marathon for us today.

I think it's a well-established fact that all zombies have the superhuman ability to rip open any human abdomen like paper tissue. They can't climb a ladder worth shiat, though.

Glenn is going to come out of the closet.

Before they leave the farm, tonight's episode could really use a nice, long Maggie shower scene. I think if nothing else, we can all agree on this.

I daresay Dale was the best character on the show. Daryl a close second.

Being the conscience of the group, Dale's death is quite significant. The zombie quite literally ripped out his guts, which he actually had a lot of symbolically (being the sole voice against a decision). Now it's a question of who will fill his role, if there will be anyone to do so.

If Daryl eats it, I'm out.

Based on the fact that Herschel gave Glenn that watch, he's a goner. Grumpy character redemption = almost certain death.

I say "almost certain death" because, well, Daryl.

darkhorse23: I just want it to end with a bang. After last week, I'm satisfied because I was sick to death of Shane.

I'm mildly sad that we didn't get a scene in which Zombie Shane scrunches his nose at a wide-mouthed Zombie Dale.

2012-03-18 03:37:47 PM
I have not read the graphics, so I have exactly zero idea about whether they've addressed any of this in other permutations, but I have to say I'm downright eager (and a bit apprehensive) to see how they deal with Shane's death on a group level. After Lori's big speech, she's going to need to be a bit farked up about it. Even with Glenn and Darryl providing testimony about Shane's intent, it simply won't be believable if Lori shrugs it off in a scene or two. In her mind she "settled" it, so everything's going to be fine, then all of a sudden Shane's dead after trying to murder Rick, out in a field, with no witnesses (well, Carl maybe).

I think what I'm getting at with all this is yeah, definitely Maggie shower scene. No doubt.

2012-03-18 03:38:50 PM
With the way Carl has been acting, I'm convinced that people somehow become really annoying once they have survived a gun shot wound.

Neither have I.

I've only heard rumblings about how the two vary, so... yeah.

Daryl was grazed by a bullet, so the theory probably only applies if there's an *actual* bullet entry.

Well it's hardly a spoiler at this point, but the characters are mostly the same in both versions, but the stories are completely different. No one who's read the comics can pretend they can spoil the TV show, no matter how hard they want to try.

/in the comics you have to be bit to get zombified

I don't think that will happen simply because Rooker's coming back next season and you know there has to be a confrontation between the two (I refuse to say "reunion" because you know it won't be pleasant). I'm inclined to agree with you on Herschel, and from the preview things don't look too great for Maggie trapped in the car like that.

No, you don't. It's the same as the show, everyone is infected. Herschel's two young daughters and Tyrese's kid all became zombies without being bit.

That's more of a larger statement about the series as a whole, but yeah, if Daryl SPECIFICALLY eats in the Season 2 finale, I'm out.

The fact that he's a fan favorite practically puts a bullseye on him, but that won't happen until Merle resurfaces and issues a a "you with me or you with them?" ultimatum.

And if we're going by the end-of-episode preview...

You know what would absolutely slay me (heh), and would guarantee that I'd come back next season?

If they killed every single goddamn cast member, showed their zombie asses shuffling towards the west at the 47-minute mark, cut to a black screen saying "Meanwhile, 100 miles west..." and gave us a 5-minute cold intro to next season's new cast and their cult-leader-like boss, "One-Armed Merle". Hell, I'd send a check to the writers myself if they did that. It'd be absolutely hilarious.

OK, so probably not. But they definitely need to have Herschel come back as a zombie. Herschel "Walker".

I liked the pre-meltdown Andrea of Season 1 a lot better than post-meltdown Andrea.

She's getting back to old territory (last week's episode was a big step in that direction), so that's one.

Also, I'm deathly afraid for T-Dog's safety, since they gave him a boatload of lines (well, for him, anyway) last week.

I'll overlook the death of Daryl if:

1.) everyone except T-Dog gets killed.

2.) the show focuses on the rollicking misadventures of T-Dog.

You know, I've sure heard a lot of people whining about how this show sucks this year.

When I discover a show sucks, you know what I do? I stop watching it or talking about it. I have no idea what's going on in Dexter or True Blood anymore because THEY SUCK NOW. So I stopped watching or caring.

Why the hell are there so many people who devour every episode only to whine more about how much they hate the show? Don't you have any hobbies, any video games, anything to clean up or sell on eBay or ANYTHING else to do?

Seriously? WTF went wrong with you?

Yes, I was worried when the writers threw T-Dog a bone. Talk about "chronically underused character." But hey, at least Looking for Sophia is over. I'm pretty sure the first half of the season would have better suited to a two-part Golden Girls special episode where Dorothy forgets about Sophia in downtown Miami after a doctor's appointment and Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and, in a crossover with Empty Nest, Harry, Carol, Emily, and Charley all join in on the search too. That would have been more exciting and enjoyable than the Walking Dead story arc.

I'm entirely convinced that T-Dog was having kickass adventures and rescue missions when the camera was focused elsewhere... you know, on stuff like Lori henpecking Rick or Shane having macho shoutdowns against [insert character's name here].

While everyone else not named Daryl was doing absolutely nothing, T-Dog was gallivanting about in the city like a one-man A-Team.

That's my theory, and the series is entirely better when you stick to that theory.

So I guess they are carriers of the zombie disease and it remains dormant until they die? If that is true, I am sorta expecting Lori's baby to be stillborn (for like 30 seconds and then it will try to bite people).

they need to address why how shane was turned in to a zombie without being bitten.

i've found it pretty amazing the amount of interaction they have with zombies without getting turned -- but i'm guessing that is license so their can be hand-to-hand combat without episode two being titled "what do we do now"

Yeah, at first I thought he whispered to him that (I don't know anyone's name) was pregnant but I think he whispered to him that everyone on the planet is infected. Which pretty much just follows Romero's rules of zombies that the recently dead automatically become zombies. Being bitten just kills them.
