Of course, a person who votes for a man "because he is black" is just as racist as a person who won't vote for a man "because he is black," but Pelosi was unable to find a person like that down in Mississippi, even though she try to coax such statements from her subjects.

Reality has a liberal bias.

This is what's wrong with politics today. The Republicans think every Democrat is like those idiot welfare frauds in the video, and the Democrats think every Republican is like those moron rednecks. The reality is that those people are the extremists in each party and are hardly representative of the mainstream Democrats or Republicans. Most Republicans would be embarrased by those rednecks, and most Democrats would be embarrassed by those welfare bums. But the divide that the media has created is preventing any compromise because each side has such a twisted view of the other.

/And I wish Bill Maher would shut up and let his guests talk.

Funny how Bill Mahr said the welfare stories seem more real.

That may be the stupidest statement ever written on the internet, and I've read YouTube comments. If you DO vote for someone based on racial characteristics, that doesn't make you racist, that makes you stupid. If you DON'T vote for someone based on their racial characteristics, that makes you racist.

Let me put it in terms that most people, but not Breitbarters, will understand:

Not racist (but a stupid reason for a vote): I'm voting for Barack Obama because he's black and I want to vote for someone black.

Racist (AND a stupid reason for a vote): I'm voting for Barack Obama because the other guy is white and I don't want to vote for a white guy.

Not racist: I'm not voting for Barack Obama, because I disagree with his policies and vision of America.

Racist: "Don't re-nig in 2012"

It's really very easy.

And as far as the "mistake-filled" movie about Palin...um, it WAS about Sarah Palin, right?

FlashHarry: wrong. the extremists in the GOP are running the GOP. that's the difference. ask olympia snowe.

Talk radio and Fox news have pulled the mainstream Republican party so far to the right that the Republican politicians have got to cater to them to get elected, but I don't think the Republican party is actually run by the extremists. I think the dunderheads that have fallen for the Republican propoganda are being taken advantage of, but I also think that was the plan all along. Can you picture Mitt Romney, for example, holding the same political ideology as those southern rednecks? I think Mitt Romney cares only about rich Republicans, and the only thing he wants from the extremists is their vote. He has nothing for them and they won't be any better off if he is elected president. Same for George W. Bush. Those knuckleheads loved him but they got nothing from him. They're worse off now than they were when Bush was elected, but they'd vote for him again in a heartbeat.

Now Santorum, on the other hand, might actually believe the crap that he's spewing. Sometimes it's hard to tell because he's such a poor politician.

Seriously

All you TFERs can see my red-lights. You will see sources from Alternet to Breitbart to TED.

Limiting yourself to only one point of view, or rejecting one because you do not like the bias it has, is a form of bigotry.

Even total nuts should be looked at, if only to keep track of what they are doing so you can fight or avoid them.

And knowing what those you disagree with are saying about those you agree with, can challenge you, sometimes alter your own views, and can help keep you honest about what your own bias is.

Exactly. She found easy targets. Great... so she found easy right-wing AND left-wing targets. Makes her better than the Michael Moores of the world? No.

I know for a fact that 90% of people in Mississippi are not like those she interviewed. And while I don't know New York, I did live in Chicago for 30+ years. And knew people of all cultural backgrounds and of all sorts of financial means. 90% of the lowest end in terms of financial means are not like those pictured here.

Some of these are more racist than others (there is a scale, life is not black and white - no pun intended.)

But voting for someone because they're black (especially that being the first and only reason articulated) is racist. On a scale of 1 to 10, maybe its a 3... but its still racist.

If you're voting for someone because they're black, then you're refusing to vote for someone who is white (as the last election and this one will be a black person vs. a white person.)

I mean seriously. Lets say Romney takes the nomination. If you asked me why I'm voting for Romney, an I said "because he's white".... you'd consider that stupid but not racist? Please.

Not really. Those three have rational and pragmatic goals, years of institutional knowledge and experience, respect for the office and the institution, and a real desire to see the country progress. The Teabagger freshmen are just one-trick-pony wingnuts who don't mind if the institution burns.

The problem with the video was that it wasn't the equivalent of her Republican video, which was exposing the racist faction Republicans claim doesn't exist within their party as well as the hypocrisy of people railing against government assistance while taking as much as they can.

Liberals don't deny that there are people on welfare, and liberals don't rail against welfare, the video was just serving the Republican straw man of "welfare queens", and it didn't even do that well... Okay, so they're getting "welfare" (by the way, what kind? because you need to have been employed for unemployment, and there's a lot of unemployment going around, there were men, so it's unlikely they were getting assistance for childcare, and what's wrong with food stamps?), but howsabout we follow them home and see how "good" they have it living off the government. I'm willing to bet none of us would trade the lives we have for a life "leeching off the government".

It was a shoddy attempt at "both sides are bad".

I lived that movie when I was a kid. Seeing it when I was 15+ years away from that nonsense made me feel really, really weird.

I will attest that if anything, that movie was sympathetic compared to the reality of some of the logic circles they used to instill certainty of faith in impressionable young people. She did good work on that movie, so I'm willing to take her on faith (ha!) that this one is accurate.

Well, yeah. If you are a smug and condescending person. It's the "two sets of rules" crap that's the problem. People ALWAYS favor stories that agree with their Weltanschauung, but, objectively, it seems that the conservatives want to out-derp the opposition, but the leftists want to silence theirs. It's the old "control the information, control the people" bullshiat from the Soviet days. Soviets go back and edit history, and then say "See? We were right all along." Pathetic.

The funny thing is that Obama most likely didn't give you anything if you are poor, at least not directly. Obama has been too busy giving the middle class enough to stay afloat to really focus his attention on the poor. Obama gave me stuff, but then again I'm a veteran going back to school. I would be accurate for a poor person to say I voted for Obama because the other side would try to take what little I have away. I mean really, did anyone expect poor black urban voters to vote Republican?

Yes, but he said it like it was a Bad Thing, rather than a simple fact. I agree it wasn't exactly "going off", but he did express his distaste. Heck, using the term itself to describe a human, no matter the tone, is pretty offensive.
