I'm going to build a patio table for the girl next door, clean my apartment, then take a nap. I have more than enough beer to get me through this.

Do not put creme de mente in your beer

I don't drink beer light enough to be colored.

I'm getting ready for an 11 hour shift at The Cheese. I won't be drinking any beer today.

Ha. I wish. 'Bout the strongest I'll be drinking today is Pepsi.

Time to explore what Cincinnati has to offer today... lots of Irish heritage around here.

Yeah, no reason to be taking the edge off the nose candy.

Well... mayhaps you should try the chilli... I'm sorry, I know folks there love it... but it seems like the worst idea ever. If Texas has ever done a correct thing... it was chilli. Cornbread & Texas Chili is an amazing dish... I'll not get into specifics.

Marysue: Yeah, no reason to be taking the edge off the nose candy.

There are days I wish I were a drug dealer in NYC... today is one of those days. Last year I started drinking around 11 am in the West Village and it was obvious then... the whole day was amateur hour. This year, I'd rather not have a random under age drinker barf hot dogs on my shoes at 3 in the afternoon.

I sampled the various chilis upon moving here a year ago. And I agree it is true, the chili around here is an absolute disaster.

I have matinee theater tickets this afternoon. Standing between me and the theater is the 2nd largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the country, about 20,000 drunks, and a NCAA basketball game.

Plus I have to wake up my wife.

Sorry, I'm over 23 and I'm not in college anymore, so I have no use for going out and being one of many retards buying overpriced beer and "celebrating" an ethnicity I'm not a member of as though it's cool.

Meh, just going to the club later for dinner. Probably stay at the marina tonight tho- not a good night to be on the roads around here.

I'm drinking a fine Irish beer called Newcastle.

/:D

I've never gone out for St. Patrick's Day before, but a bunch of friends are celebrating with dinner and drinks in Pittsburgh later today so I'm tagging along - I'm excited!

But I'm also pretty broke, so I'm hoping some people will buy me a couple drinks :)

I had three potential outfits picked out, and I picked the one least likely to lead me into a bad decision, so maybe I'm growing up. Although now that I think about it, I'm much less likely to do a kegstand or jump in a lake in the white sundress than what I have on.

2012-03-17 12:08:42 PM
Hell yeah!

This is a day just asking for bad decisions! I hope to make quite a few ...

That said, I learned my lesson last year, and will remain (mostly) sober until AFTER I get done marching in the parade.

/hey kids, here's some candy... Uh oh... BLARRRGHHH!

Today is my dad's birthday, so I shall continue my tradition of calling him and singing "Happy St. Patrick's Day to You"

2012-03-17 12:19:31 PM
Just delivered corned beef and cabbage to my mom and dad. Have to put the food through a food processor for mom, though--not too bad, just strange. Now headed to Edna's in OKC for the bartender's homemade hash and cabbage. Many beers will ensue and I'll buy for anyone who yells my screen name in the bar.

Wasn't too bad. We got busy, but it was mostly just people playing games. I probably had about an hour over dinner where I got stretched pretty thin.

Saturday is usually my bar night and I wouldn't go near one today if the beer was free. I live within walking distance of 7 bars and every one of them will be crammed full with lines waiting to get in. Even if you manage to finally get inside, you're surrounded by morons. I'll sit home, watch some basketball and hockey and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Off for a spot of lunch. Some coffee to gird me. Then drop in on my local and see if any of my fellow barflies are there. Then off to a supper club thing that a friend invited me to. Then back to my local and see if I can get in.

My local tends to comp the regulars on days like this. It's a good day but no chundering I think. And no career limiting moves given that this day is not on a weekday this year.

2012-03-17 12:30:33 PM
Still considering it. I've learned that bong waters are not only green, they're delicious. Not quite sure where this is leading but happy anyway.

Yesterday, I bought the new Krave cereal from Kellogg's. I just tried it today.

Holy shiat is that an awful cereal. Soggy cereal with awful chocolate inside? Ugh, that was a bad decision.

I'm moving across town in a few weeks, so I'll be spending the weekend getting my act together for a move (thankfully I'm only moving a one bedroom apt. so it isn't a big deal). I might go down to the corner bar and have a drink if it isn't too full of crazy drunks - who am I kidding, this is Chicago, of course it will be full of crazy drunks.

Cincinnati chili, not Texas chili. It's like... sludge-topped spaghetti. Or at least, I see people eating it, so presumably it is edible.

A friend of mine who frequents Irish pubs gave me a bit of advice on choosing a bar or pub for St Paddy's Day: If they serve green beer, go somewhere else.

I've not eaten anything yet today, and now I don't believe I want to. That... sounds horrific. Thanks there, M.

The parade starts in 15 minutes, it's a mile away from me, and it's raining. So I think I'll skip it, since the parade is nothing more than the signal to start drinking for real.

I don't know if I can get into this shiat, even if my town does have a huge party every year. I might go check it out later, go find the bagpipe players or something. It's not like the internet is going to miss my presence for a few hours.

I got an impulse tongue piercing, which means I can't drink tonight. As far as bad decisions on St Patrick's Day, I think that ranks pretty high. I can't even blame alcohol, I'm just extremely stupid.
