The GOP Blueprint for Electoral Success:
Alienate the young with medieval stance on social issues
Alienate African-Americans with endless "welfare queen pumping out babies in her Escalade" rhetoric
Alienate Hispanics with "Build that wall higher and put a giant 'Talk English Only' sign on it!" rhetoric
Alienate women with "Your vagina is my business, baby-murdering slut" insanity
Alienate all moderate voices by branding them Communist Socialist RINOs not worthy of basking in the glow of St. Reagan

We're rapidly approaching the day when the Republican Party is one 68-year-old white millionaire screaming "LIBERAL!" at his mirror.

In that case I wish I had put it more eloquently. Then again, the juvenile language may serve to highlight the juvenile nature of the legislation.

I'm meta that way ;-)

Certain states seem to be going clinically insane. Mostly red ones. I'll include my own of Virginia. Also see Texas, Mississippi, Utah, and some others.

I'd need to write a separate list just for all the things the GOP wants forced up vaginas.

It appears AZ's coming to its senses. They just approved one form of contraception that would be covered.

So a male republican takes time out of his busy schedule to write up a bill regarding childrens' penises.

Yyyyyeah. I'm going to go ahead and pretend I'm shocked about this. Yeah.

The funny part is, I remember my parents having to use my baptismal record to register me for school when we moved. My birth certificate was nowhere to be found and the school accepted it. When I got my driver's permit, the DMV accepted it, too. I really don't see the big controversy over using a baptismal or circumcision record. As subby says, the real stupidity is the rationale behind the legislation in the first place.

Would this bill have been put forth if the current president wasn't a black man with a foreign sounding name?

The answer to that question is all you need to know about the motivations behind the cretins who support this bill.

Actually, I have to say yes. They've been gunning for abortion and contraception for a long time now. They want to get it back to the SCOTUS. And they're doing it by effectively blocking access, while not explicitly making them illegal.

Obama just makes it easier to whip up the ignorant masses.

This following passage is one of the things I hate most about our "democracy":

When that bill failed to gain traction, Seel's birther language was tacked on to a separate health care proposal that cleared the House last week

Your bill was so sh*tty it couldn't stand on its own, so we added it to a health care amendment. What does the validity of a candidate have to do with health care (until he's in office anyway)?

I mean the requirement to show a birth certificate to be on the ballot for a Presidential election... But, yeah, people like this need no encouragement to get their stupid on when it comes to matters involving reproduction and women's issues, that's for sure.

Serious question --

Since the short COLB wasn't sufficient for the birthers and the ads posted in the Hawaii newspapers in the early 60s weren't sufficient for the birthers and the long form that was released last year wasn't sufficient for the birthers, exactly what documentation WILL they accept in order to allow Barack Obama onto the (D) ticket this year in Arizona?

Seems to me that since there's an automatic birther "nu uh!" veto on all documentation they might as well just leave the "...or show us your cock." language in there, since at least nobody could deny that it is indeed the president's pecker hanging between his legs.

2012-03-16 06:07:58 PM
That was some serious stupid in that article.

2012-03-16 06:13:27 PM
Excluding religious documentation from their birther demands is probably the only sane thing those demented snowbirds have done all year.

2012-03-16 06:14:04 PM
1) Non-consensual genital mutilation is wrong.

2) Why do they give out circumcision certificates? Isn't it pretty obvious that the procedure was done?

2012-03-16 06:15:37 PM
Because there's no way Obama could have won without the delegates from Arizona, right?

2012-03-16 06:16:24 PM
I'm so very, very confused. The Birthers say, that despite Obama showing his birth certificate, they refuse to believe he's a citizen. So the fix for that is to... require candidates to show their birth certificates?

I still find it funny that a fringe portion of the party of states' rights told the State of Hawaii that their official document was fake and meaningless.

This bill has nothing to do with keeping Obama off the ballot.

They were successful in kicking a city council candidate off the ballot who was a US citizen because she couldn't speak English. They were scared a brown person would have power in the state.

They want to deter brown people running for state office with threats of jail and to hold people accountable for giving the OK to a candidate who doesn't meet the requirements*.

In other words, unnecessary regulation.

*next step, they'll legislate the requirements that benefit rich white men only.

There is nothing they will accept. This is ultimately a power grab that attempts to circumvent the nomination process and prevent nominees that the Birthers deem inappropriate from appearing on the ballot.

Fun historical fact. Abraham Lincoln didn't appear on the ballot in many southern states. Keeping this in mind, Sarah Palin's seemingly nonsensical comment about Obama wanting to take us "back to the days before the civil war: becomes clear as the veiled threat it was.

They don't think a scan, or even a notarized reprint is valid enough. It has to be the one that was issued at your birth.
