I remember watching a show from that tour on HBO at the time. Even as a kid I had a strong sense that it sucked.

amazing but i don't know about top 10.....

i love the part with the young guys arguing with the old guys about how the GD sold out. and the old guy is like, "someday you're gonna be glad this was all recorded for posterity" and the young guy is like, "naw man fark that, the dead are bullshiat!"

also that clip of that cowboy dude on roller skates just getting LOOSE on sug mag. hilarious.

also the part where Bobby, with I think JPB at his side, almost mocking the idea of playing "these songs in another 10 years". i forget his exact words but it is funny to think how in 2012 he's still playing "those songs" from 1974.

I understand that there are better live recordings of them, but I think the live version of No Quarter stands out at that show. I haven't heard another live version of that track that is as powerful as that one. Get the album version of TSRTS DVD and check out that track again, it's amazing. OTOH, if anyone knows of a show featuring a better live No Quarter, please let me know.

I was the biggest Led Zep fan when I was a teenager (who wasn't, I know its cliche) and even I could barely sit through that crock of shiat on VHS.

Led Zep is an awesome studio band. They were always horrible live. There's nothing redeeming or epic about those MSG concerts.

I imagine someone already pointed this out, but they are an amazing live band, easily one of the best of all time. Page can be sloppy, and Plant's voice gets on my nerves, but Bonham is obviously a god, and JPJ is an all time great bassist.

Does Operation Livecrime count? If it does it should be on this list.

David gilmour has a concert film that would be awesome, but for some goddamn reason, THEY FILMED IT ON VIDEO!! Why, in this age of technological wonder, didn't they film in HD? It looks so damn grainy on a big screen. Bowie sings comfortably numb at the end, so that helps, but still!

A lot of love for expected stuff and Martin Scorsese. I don't see the first Decline of Western Civilization in there. Without the bands in that one, there would be no Green Day. And really, how interesting can it be to watch Green Day after they left the Gilman Street scene? Abondon varied songs and musical artistry (remember when Billy Joe could play a guitar better than a junior high n00blet?), voluntarily jump into rut, rinse, repeat, throw in some mild shiat that appears to be scathing and relavent, along with an acoustic track for the girls...yeah, fark you. Green Day died to me around 1994.

This is how old I am - the first concert I ever went to was McCartney & Wings when the opened the North American tour in Ft. Worth. 2nd concert was Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review. There were some awesome shows back then.

yup...it was to guarantee a sellout.

saturday (12/19) was filmed, but was rained out. also, Bono realized an apparent/supposed listless audience, and called for "Out Of Control" -- not on the setlist -- on about the 4th or 5th song, in an attempt to get the crowd going. Two problems:

1) the band hadn't played it in long time, so the performance was shaky

2) the film crew had staged all the lighting cues to the setlist, and his curveball farked up the rest of the show, as alll the lighting / shot cues were useless.

They had toured though the year before, at a higher rate. They sold the tickets for these concerts for $5 because they needed to ensure a full house for the filming and there was concern that they would not sell out for usual prices. We went to the previous concert as well, and it was not $5 then. I remember being thrilled that we could get to see then for $5.

It's sad but predictable- almost all of the "concerts" are from the 60s-70s-80s "classic rock" era.

Most people get frozen musically in high school/college and never listen to much of anything new after that. They get trapped in their "comfort zone" musically.

They will listen to the same music they listened to in high school/college until they die.

They will biatch that "No good new music has come out since 1978"

I feel really bad for them because there is an amazing amount of fantastic NEW music coming out every year.

Last Waltz would have some cred if all the Band's parts(except Levon's) weren't re-recorded in the studio. Cocaine's a helluva drug.
SRTS is total crap as is most of that list. Heads were better as a 4-piece or with Belew.
