If it weren't for Monty Python I wouldn't have the foggiest clue what the headline was talking about. As it is, I have heard some of those words before, but still have no clue what an archbishop is. And I'm not asking.

As an Episcopalian (American arm of the Church of England), I guess that answers the question to Thomas a Becket's approval.

This man has been responsible for escalating anti-gay bigotry in the Church for years, to the point of Anglican schism. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Archbishop.

by the way "dhimmi", the way you are using it anyway, is a word made up by racist right-wing lunatics to make themselves look culturally aware. The real word refers to nothing more than non-Muslims living in Muslim lands. Just thought you should know so you don't go around looking like one of those racist dickholes

Unlikely, as a dhimmi is a non-Muslim subject in a Muslim state that is governed by sharia law.

So if he is a dhimmi, then that means that the UK is a Muslim state under sharia law and therefore any non-Muslim subjects of the UK are dhimmi and it follows that the only way to have a non-dhimmi as the head of the Church of England would then be to have a Muslim as the head of the Church.

Or maybe he's not a dhimmi.... What do I know.

ah good.

So does this mean we can stop calling republicans nazi's? After all nazi's are german's living in german occupied territories under a dictator in system that mixes state socialism with rabid nationalism mixed with polytheism and acute xenophobia.

After all, republicans are not german.

I've got a better option.

I actually live in the UK and have done my entire life, so I think I might actually have a handle on the subject.

You're obviously either grossly misinformed about Sharia in the UK or being deliberately disingenuous.

Sharia courts have precisely as much power in the UK as Beth Din (Jewish religious courts), which is basically as much power over you as you let them.

English law states that any third party can be agreed by two sides to arbitrate in a dispute, and in the case of religious courts (be it Jewish, Muslim or Pastafarian), but both sides have to agree to arbitration by said third party.

I, or any other UK citizen, cannot be dragged into a Sharia court for anything unless I agree to it, and then it only covers civil matters, any criminal complaint will be dealt with by the UK courts system without any recourse to any religious panel.

/though I do feel like I probably have a hook stuck in my cheek.
