(YouTube)   Coolest time lapse video you'll see all day. Yeah, it's a couple months old, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the best two minutes you've ever spent watching something other than porn online   (youtube.com) divider line 25

I like to pretend it was a bunch of brontosaurus grazing in fast motion. Neat vid.

Pretty slow work for a time lapse. Just stick some explosives on it and you're done. Of course time the explosives to go off at rush hour, for added humour value.

Oh, I'm sure there's someone in Farkdom who watched that and rubbed one out anyway...

You mean CalDOT actually does some work? I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you...

Weirdly reminiscent of this sort of thing (new window).

That was kind of creepy. Looked like a cross between giant termites and birds building a nest when they pulled and maneuvered the pieces of rebar.

Pretty much what I was thinking. It's interesting the way civilization resembles natural systems, even a living organism.

Feeding frenzy down at the local watering hole.

I got really bored about 20 seconds in.

They did that in Toronto last year. The bridge was half that size and they did it in about 3 months.
Thanks for showing that it really could be done in one night.

This is cool, yeah, but if you're on a bus that has to go above 50 mph or else it blows up these kind of gaps in freeways are potentially lethal.

Everything that happens in Oxnard should happen in fast forward like this. The place wouldn't be any less boring, but at least it wouldn't take as long until you reach the sweet release of death.

That was cool. I want to drive one of those mechanical monsters. Looks fun.

I would NOT want to be the guy cutting the rebar. Those crane/hammers were getting pretty close to him at a couple of spots.

Nice. Thanks, subby!

In Albuquerque, the I-25 & I-40 interchange was completely remodeled in 2000 - 2002 from the few crossing lanes to the multi-story complex it is today. I was there with my camcorder videotaping the demolition of the first overpass along with a number of local news crews. It started to rain and all of the news folks left, but I stuck it out and got the "money shot" of the bridge collapsing. I sold the amateur footage for a tidy sum and my tape is also interred in a time capsule in the center of the project to be opened in 2052.

I live a few miles from here, and it's good to see that they can at least tear the old bridge down quickly...farking exits have been closed for two years now.

The time laps made it look more dangerous than it was. But there is no substitute for a skilled Opperating Engineer.

This one of my Fav videos of an Opperating Engineer at work. If he screws up he kills himself (the crane will fall on his rig) and the crane opperator. World Trade Center recounstruction, shot last year.

Agreed. Now if they can get the rest of it done, going north the south end of the Nard wouldn't be such a pain in the ass.
