Finally reached Hop Along's profile; town of residence didn't provide desired help . Unlisted phone it appears. shucky dern .... Hoped notifying "ding" for new msg to main e acct might be her, but it wasn't. Will try direct e msg to her again; thought I was supposed to get return rcpt regardless, but mayhap only if/when opened. That bodes not esp well, & she isn't that old.

WonderStuff: litespeed74: Happy caturday everyone. Tomorrow I'm going into a shelter to adopt my 1st kitty. They just got a ton of black cats in from a hoarding situation. It seems like the black feline gets a bad rap.
My question is...how in the world do I leave there w/ only 1 cat and how do I pick? I worry I'll have issues figuring out which kitty deserves a home because they all do. Any tips? I will be looking for an adult...

If you are gone often, consider getting two. Play with and hold some cats and you will find the one(s).

My Heidi jumped into my arms when I opened the cage, the others used to live on our back porch lol. You'll know!

If you want too, see if you can get littermates or a bonded pair. Bonded pairs can be hard to adopt because most people want one.

Our Felix stalked Mr NSNBunny; he climbed a tall cat tree (Mr NSNBunny is about 6'3" tall) and waited for hubby to walk by. Hubby hadn't seen him, as he was looking at the poor kitty with only one eye and all the OMG gorgeous Persians, so hubby was completely off guard when Felix sprang onto his shoulder, curled up and started purring. Love at first pounce.

/Mia, our first kitteh, was NOT pleased with the interloper
//she still isn't pleased with the interloper
///Felix still tries to play, she's only taken him up on the offer three times that I know of

AlienDandelion: *Quietly enters, pulls herself up on her wooden apple crate*
I have returned...
Many of you will recognize me by my new Fark handle alone...
I hope it meets your approval...

I have been going through what can only be described as epic mustache and hushpuppy levels of "What is this I don't even"...
I have been travelling through every single portal of hell, been drowning in a darkness truly evil and blacker than black and devoid of everything...
Through it I lost my baby Ben Hurr in January (RIP my favorite orange ball of dissaproval), and recently had to give up my heffalump sized Gremlin to his new Kingdom as I found out
I was slowly poisoning him with my body (he was always a groomer and had been slowly ingesting the chemo and other drugs coming out of my pores).
Even though I am truly heartbroken, I take solace that he truly is currently reigning over his new big house that is full of full length mirrors in which he can fully admire his beauty, and be constantly fawned over
by his new master and two seinor cougars named Misty and Snowbell.
I am still in the midst of a current horrifying battle with the C and D.
I am still in the midst of trying to recover after being severely hacked and my complete identity stolen beginning of February, of which there is still a long way to go...
I have pretty much lost everything in a lot of ways...

...but I am slowly pulling myself out of said darkness...

I sincerely want to just shout as loud as this little body can "THANK YOU" to my favorite Caturday Family for the incredible, amazing support and help since shiat went down faster than I could shake my
tassels at.
My thanks can never truly be enough for all that you have done.
It brings tears to my eyes and I have missed you so damn much.

I am so sorry I could not stay in contact these last few months. I had no choice, due to safety for everyone, and strength.
As punishment for me, may the spankings commence.

I want to voice my condolences on the many losses many of you h ...

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! Welcome back sunshine!!!! WE MISSED YOU!!

/sorry for shouting!

Salem Witch: John Buck 41: tigerose: You need Bag Balm.

I thought Bag Balm was unique to New England. Great stuff, btw, for almost anything. Better than say Neosporin, I think.

I've been using it on my hands for years.

When the seasons change I get the worst chapped lips. They used to split and peel something awful. I've used Bag Balm for years now and I never have a problem! Also very awesome for when you have a cold and you blow your nose so much it gets chafed. I do not like the lotion tissues; they feel slimy to me :P

Caturday product opinion question time!

My family recently moved into an apartment after having rented houses in the past. The apartment is also carpeted, which our houses never were, so hubby has banned the cats from the bedrooms (my Ninja-kitty likes to pee in closets). My little kitty Artemis meows incessantly at my bedroom door because she doesn't like to be "alone" (despite Ninja and 2 goggies for company) at all hours of the night. Ordinarily I'd ignore it, but I'm sure it's driving my neighbors bat-shiat crazy. I've tried using the "Bad Kitty!" bottle, but she's starting to treat it like a game.

What I am wondering is if anyone has tried any cat deterrent products such as this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2751025

I really don't want to scare the piss out of her, but it seems better than shocking her with one of those ScatMats, or doping her up. Thoughts? Opinions? Product reviews? Thanks, Caturday!

Ideas include one litterbox per cat, placing litterboxes near spots where they tend to go, and taking offenders to the vet for a full check-up. Sometimes cats will avoid the litterbox for medical reasons.

marxychick1, when it comes time for us (or those left to Clean Up after us) to sell this place, carpets will need replaced. Not only for Ninja-like activities, but also for carpet in doorways being partly demolished. Unless Those Left simply decide to raze the house, as was done this past wk to one on the road we live on.
Unable to provide any actual product-use info for you, sorry.

I would probably try one of the Feliway type collars on her. They have a calming pheromone on them. There are some other brands of the same type of item which are much cheaper. Here is a link to the ones I found on Amazon Link (new window).

I did some research a while ago for a friend who was having problems with her male cat spraying in the house and as long as she gets him a new one each month, she has had no more problems with him spraying. I also recommended it to my cousin who inherited two additional cats from a friend who passed away and the 4 cats were having some problems getting along together. The instigator got the collar, and everything has become much more peaceful.

My friend said there is a bit of an odor to the collar, but she didn't find it unpleasant enough to not use it. They run about $10 on Amazon. Please let us know how it works. Good luck!

Many years ago my round orange tabby girl Chloe had a bald spot on her tummy for a few months. The vet suggested that it could be a possible food allergy so I changed her diet, and the hair grew back. There could probably be a bunch of different reasons for the licking, but this appeared to help.

marxychick1: Caturday product opinion question time!...

Umm, maybe try oranges? I've mentioned it many, many times before, but cats aren't keen on citrus-y smells. Maybe try putting orange peels or similarly-scented items where you don't want the cats to go? I've had no experience with the Feliway stuff as others have suggested, but I've heard it suggested a LOT, so it's gotta be good stuff. Good luck with that, unhappy kitties make everyone sad. :(

And, randomly from the kitchen of the L33t Squirrel, I put together a pork roast in the slow cooker. It's gonna be AWESOME: a layer of carrots, then a layer of pork roast, coated with garlic and the Lipton Onion Soup mix, and then topped it off with a layer of diced tart apples and a very light, tiny dusting of cinnamon. *Happydance.* I know that apples and pork are great together, but I've never tried it before, so I'm looking forward to the results of my culinary science in about another six hours. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I've been wanting to try the Feliway thing for a while (Ninja wigs out when he goes to the vet, and I heard Feliway helps), so maybe it'll work for Arte's separation anxiety. Or maybe I'll just put a litter box in the closet and put my husband's stuff in the dumpster. LOL! Just kidding, but the lack of sleep is killing me. I think I'm also going to try one of those SSScat things. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
