swankywanky: Like downstairs i am also usually a lurker in Caturdays and post in the sports and politics threads mostly. We had to put our beloved Sam to sleep yesterday. He came from a shelter, so barring cabon dating we never knew his exact age - but he was in the 16 to 17 year range, with me for 15 of those. He was a good guy.

So sorry for your loss. Sam looked likeva fine fellow who gavevand recieved plenty of love. How wonderful that he graced yourblife for so long.

Rambo's Dad Sorry for your loss as well. Cats have a way of wiggling into our lives and leaving indelible foot prints don't they?

So sorry for loss of Sam cited on pg 4, swankywanky. 16-17 isn't quite as good a run as 20, but still decent. If he was with you for 15, he knows he was loved. Sympathy & condolences.

Well, sorta. Got another newsltr to begin assembly of, it's due out Wed & so far I've 1 new article. But it's the one that needs the most work. Hi Beulah, tnx for your Caturday captionation of a few wks back,
have used it several times. Also have an e to reply to.

John Buck 41: Thanks to all for the welcome home posts. Contractor is due here tomorrow but I'll be surprised if he shows up, and if/when he does, other than moving the couch and recliner out of the LR, I'm not lifting a finger to help him. Just pretty damn disgusted with the the whole scenario--him, the electrician who installed a faulty hard-wired smoke detector that went off at midnight last night, the pellet stove guy who charged 700 bucks to cut a hole in an exterior wall and hook up the stove, the insurance co. that is trying to fark us, the cleaning people who can't bring our clothes back til the contractor is done (NOT their fault, btw). There isn't enough
to drown my sorrows.

Oh, a cat.

Hang in there. I hope things more smoothly from now on.

Found also in process of trying to reply to e-msg from last night, that I totally forgot about Ntl Procrastination Wk, which was ~Mar 5, so a Caturday & a half ago. What's really bad, is that I saved the draft on Mar 5, 2010! Have already put that into ftnotes for 2013 at back of current calendar.

L33t Squirrel: For reasons that I can't quite remember, we popped into the Victoria's Secret store and laughed at all of the frilly stuff. (She's too curvy for their offerings, and since I have roomies, it's awkward for me wear that stuff.) My friend remarked something about not really getting the idea behind thongs, to which I told her that they had other uses, too. "They can be really fancy eyepatches," I informed her, to which she replied with her familiar look of, "LOL WHUT" and "you AREN'T going to do what I think you're going to do." Proving her correct, I picked up a random piece of arse-floss, and arranged it in a proper eyepatch, planting my fists on my hips in a satisfied manner. "Arrr, b*tches! :D" I haven't seen her turn that red in years. Grinning like a total loon, I removed the lacy underthings and folded them before returning them to their previous location, under the amazed and shocked looks of other patrons, before one of the salespeople could ask me what the hell I was doing. I am such a fun drunk.

Years ago I was on one of those 'shopping at the wife at the mall' trips that all husbands live for. I was getting really cranky and tired (were shopping for like twenty minutes!). We popped into victoria secret and the wife held up a pair of panties and asked what I thought of them. I pulled them over my head and exclaimed "Oh Yeah! these will do just fine"

Now that I think of it, I can't remember going on any extended shopping excursions with her after that???

This is more my style...I would totally be this guy.

konekosama: well, it was an interesting time over at the hospital. we barely made it in time, wish i could have gotten hubby to move a bit faster that morning so i would have had time to set myself up properly in the room.
he told you all the important details about the birth of Catherine Elizabeth but he also left out the fun parts.
i had really wanted to do the delivery on my own but kitty's heart rate dropped during the contractions so a doctor was called in with the vacuum. hubby leans over and whispers that this was the last chance before dr interference so i give it one last go. she was luckily born just a few minutes before he came in with the vacuum.
i almost feel bad about the poor phlebotomist who had come in to take a blood sample just as i was ready to push. she was setting up her tray when midwife told her she couldn't set her things up. i was polite enough the first two times she said she needed to draw blood. my response was not during these contractions. the third time i wasn't so nice and said she wasn't coming near me with the damn needles until after the baby was born. the midwife said that was a very clear no and the poor woman was stuck in a corner til they were all done with me. i went along peacefully and let them poke me with needles and do whatever they wanted.
and so pics of Kitty Beth and real cats too.

This is our little baby Yoshi 6 years ago.
About 1 year ago we noticed that he was having sinus problems. After extensive tests we figured out it was a lymphoma. We had to let him go two days before Christmas, 2011. It's taken this long to be able to go through the photos and post some. He was our little buddy and we miss him profoundly.

I'm sorry. He's so handsome. I love the expression on his face.

Your story reminds me of the time I was shopping in Debs with my husband. I went in the dressing room to try on a dress, and when I had it on, I stuck my head out to tell him to come look. He was half way across the store. He yelled back, "No, ma'am I will not come in there and make love to you!" I was so humiliated!! Never did get the dress. Men!!!

Guess I better post a cat....

Aeronut, what Salem Witch recently said. Sorry for your loss of Duncan. Hope Donut won't be too lonely for too long, before you can find a ferret in need of aid or rescue.
Read paper again & found we need to send a memorial contrib to a nearby animal rescue org. Dtr of a prior workmate of Plumbicon's, not even 30 yet. Sux big time.

My condolences to everyone who's lost their kitties (and ferrets) recently. I've had my little man for 10 years this May and my little girl for about 7 in August, and I can only hope I get the 15-20 yrs with them that everyone else has had with their darlings. Aeronut, Duncan looks like he was a hoot! I love how silly and playful ferrets are!

captain feedback, one thing you do with .gifs to preserve the motion is never embiggen! (Save like normal, but leave in original size. ) If not, they convert automagically to .jpgs but retain the .gif suffix (natch) unless you re-save. No longer recall who told me that, but it was one of the regulars!

Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. And condolences to the two (?) others who lost friends this week.

The only good thing about the whole ordeal... I just realized he died on the Ides of March. I believe Feldman was old enough to hear of Cesar's death in 44 BC.

He'll be getting plenty of toasts to him tonight at our local Irish bar.

But seriously... thanks everyone.

Monkey2: Never posted in a Caturday thread so here's a pic of my cat stealing my water. I guess her head wouldn't fit in the glass. She has always preferred a glass to her water bowl, I think it's because the water is cold.

I've read that cats prefer "room temperature" food and water, but the first time I put ice in Tweak's water bowl (the city had shut off the water for a few hours so I set some cubes in her dish to melt) she not only drank with happy abandon, she delighted in batting the cubes around the bowl. Now I always add an ice cube or two to her water dish - she'll sit in front of her bowl and look at me expectantly if there's no ice when she's ready for refreshment.

Must be something about animals and cold water....when we had our greyhound (and greys are supposedly notoriously intolerant to cold due to their lack of body fat) he always stopped and licked the the water off of any frozen puddle that was starting to melt during our winter walks. During the Big Blackout of August 2003 I put ice in his water dish to help keep him cool, and he just lapped that stuff up with more enthusiasm than he usually exhibited when drinking.
