Good! I was hoping for the helicarrier in this movie, now if they'll just put a jet pack on Nick Fury.

texdent: Mugato: fusillade762: Mugato: So being that it's Joss Whedon I know what Scarlet Johanson's role is

She's going to die randomly in the 2nd act?

No, that'll be the bow and arrow guy. Scarlet will kick everyone's ass in hand to hand combat, including the Hulk.

Not so, as I read, maybe on io9 that this movie won't be Whedonesque.

Probably. I was pretty much joking about Whedon killing her off in some shockingly random way. I doubt Marvel would let him do that.

texdent: indarwinsshadow: Walker: A couple more trailers and we will have seen the whole movie basically.

What I was thinking. It's like watching a hockey game on the highlights.

The same could be said about the next Batman movie.

I've only seen one Batman trailer but there's been about 4 Avengers trailers. Was there another Batman trailer?

I've only seen 1 Avengers trailer. It looked great and I don't want to be one of those guys who watches all the trailers and clips, reads all the rumors and skims the script and then goes on the internet opening night to biatch about how there was no surprises and it was predictible.

2012-03-15 07:10:07 PM
If Avengers fails, we'll never see The Hulk on screen again. Curse of Bill Bixby, etc.

2012-03-15 07:12:55 PM
This looks to be enjoyable, but I am going to stop watching trailers.

I really like how they did Cap's outfit. I was worried about that, but what they did looks both real and super hero like, a very nice job. I want to see this movie now.

Meethos: ArkAngel: Mugato: Mentat: Hawkeye is the world's greatest marksman. He can pretty much hit anyone with anything.

Yeah I get it. It just seems like Iron Man could achieve the same effect with some laser sighting. He seems like the Aquaman of the group.

He can do it without a highly sophisticated suit of armor. Laser sights also don't take things like wind/distance into effect. Plus it's a lot harder to hide in the Iron Man armor

But he's still just a farking dude with pretty awesome aim on a team with Ironman, Thor, Captain America, and the God Damn Hulk. What in the chocolate hell will badass aim do, that they can't?

I think he's partially deaf, so he helps the team reach compliance with the ADA

Mad_Radhu: 9beers: Why does the Iron Man suit have a triangular light at the beginning and a round one at the end?

Joss prefers the round light suit, so there's going to be a scene at some point in the movie where that suit is trashed (probably by either Thor or Hulk) and replaced with a new version of the round-light suit that is compatible with the updated Arc Reactor he built in Iron Man 2. You know how it works with Iron Man.

Look, they only have so many heroes left that they can use. The rights for any mutant, plus the Fantastic Four and Spiderman family of characters are controlled by other studios. And since 99% of all people in existing in the Marvel Universe are mutants, it doesn't leave much left to pick from.

I fully expect an Avenger's 2, with requisite larger Avenger's team to feature such winners as "Guy in a bear suit", "The Garbage Man", and "The barista who makes a really nice heart shape in the foam".

I was being slightly sarcastic.

It's a no-brainer that the movie Marvels are based off of the Ultimates versions. All we need to confirm it is for Tony Stark to say the words "Rumpy-Pumpy".

They're a combination which makes them they're own thing. Captain America, Hulk and Thor are way more like the 616 versions. Nick Fury is 100% Ultimate. Hawkeye is more Ultimate than not. Iron Man is a little bit of both.

You're thinking of Battlestar Gallictica. That's the scene on the elevator where Captain Kirk has that fight with Cohane, where he says "Give these people air! And Spock lied, I am your father!". He then has to fight his way back inside the ship and deactivate Hal.

Mugato: Whatever, my power went out last night and I read The Dark Knight Returns again. That needs to be a movie.

When I first read that in about '86, I could only think of Burt Lancaster as Bruce/Batman. He had the chiseled jaw and the trapezoid chest look. He was probably way too old then, but there has to be a really in-shape 55ish year old guy they could use today. But even if they found the perfect Wayne, they'd blow it all to hell by getting some dingbat like Selena Gomez in a wig to play Carrie (the she-Robin). The girl from Kick-Ass would probably be a good choice, though.

But, yes, it should be a movie. Maybe animated...?

Partial Avengers List minus mutants (for legal reasons, not racism)

Wasp
Ant-Man/Giant-Man
She Hulk
Luke Cage
Captain Marvel/Photon
Ms. Marvel
Hercules
Starfox
Black Knight
Black Panther
Dr. Druid
Sersi
Wonder Man
Tigra
Vision
Moon Knight
Swordsman
Mantis
Moondragon
Hellcat
Falcon
Mockingbird
Firebird
Quasar
Stingray
Machine Man
Living Lightning
Jack of Hearts
Valkyrie
Iron Fist

I'm sure I'm missing some here

Aquapope: But, yes, it should be a movie. Maybe animated...?

That would be the only possible way to go, unfortunately. But live action, Tommy Lee Jones (although he has the stink of Schumacker's Two Face on him and Two Face is a major character in the book which would be confusing) or maybe in the interest of symmetry, Michael Keaton.

The reason why I brought up Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Starship Troopers) is because the book has a real dystopian satirical thing going on, which is his thing. As for "Robin", I'd go with Ellen Page, although she already played a superhero.

But it'll never happen, even in animated form, especially since Superman is a quasi-villain. Maybe an underground project....
