I've only seen his show once. He had Ben Affleck as a guest. Ben Affleck appears to be profoundly stupid when he's talking politics.

2012-03-15 04:34:23 PM
Why do the good, God fearing republican women even care who the vile, despicable democrats have at one of their functions?

2012-03-15 04:36:18 PM
I'm a little confused... even if he was attending why the hell would dems care what a bunch of backwards assed Republican slores think... and why do the slores even care, they're Republicans... and more importantly how the hell would they have enough sway to actually make it so he couldn't speak?

The political discourse in America has gone beyond frightening. Sure he's a dick but he's not a f*cking Klansman.

I think they should say fark it and invite him.

2012-03-15 04:37:00 PM
"Tickets are $100 and include admission to the pre-event Chairman's reception and prime seating at the performance."

In English, this simply means that you get to come to some lame pre-show event, and a nice ticket for the actual comedy show. This DOES NOT say anything about Maher being at the pre-show event.

About 8 years ago, I won tix to see Alice Cooper from the local radio station. Before the concert, there was a BBQ, we did not expect Coop to be at the BBQ simply because it was before the concert. It was attached as part of the prize, but he wasn't attending. It's pretty simple, really.

Now with Fox News-mandated epithet.

the things is, Rush Limbaugh denigrates women as a whole and believes them unequal to men.

Bill Maher only denigrated Sarah Palin, and that only because she is a vapid coont. His denigration had nothing to do with her gender, only his word choice did. If she were a man, he'd have called her an asshole, a prick, a dick or something like that.

2012-03-15 04:39:28 PM
Is this because he called Palin a twat, or is he known for misogyny on a broader scale?

Or is it an attempt to create a "but...but... Liberals!" situation with the Rush Limbaugh issue?

More importantly, what do the shubs and zuuls think?

this is coming from the party that just voted JUDGE ROY MOORE as their guy for state supreme court justice. not to mention they are pushing a bill to ok a bill to make it legal to put the ten commandants on every piece of government property if you want to. it says something that we go on vacation to florida just to get a break from the crazy here.

He is a huge misogynist but not in the whole trample on women's rights way. More in a Sam Malone kind of way. He hangs out with Gene Simmons if that gives you an idea of what I mean.

2012-03-15 04:42:09 PM
Ah, conservatives - "It's alright when WE do it!"

2012-03-15 04:42:19 PM
serpent_sky: I'm not sure why they chose him, or think he is some polar opposite of Rush Limbaugh, or think the "left" is somehow going to come running to his "rescue" when in reality, all of us over here are sort of scratching our heads trying to figure out what the ultimate goal of demonizing a guy who , well, nobody cares that much about.

It's just their attempt to play tit for tat. Because mean things were said about Limbaugh and he's in danger of losing his influence, they need to find someone on the left who has the same stature.

The problem is that there really isn't anyone. The closest they'd be likely to find is Jon Stewart but he's not a good target because he doesn't have a habit of saying stupid things. They'd go after Michael Moore except that they've already beat that horse so hard that it's turned into a lich-horse. So, that leave them Bill.

He has the habit of saying stupid and controversial things and, on the whole, he's got more in common with the left than the right, so that's their target. The problem, of course, is that his real role is to be a gadfly and he's just as apt to say things that make liberals cringe as well. But most conservatives don't know that. To the extent that they're familiar with him at all he's just some "Hollywood" guy who hates God, so that makes him a damned lib, ergo grrrr!

It is a pathetic gambit but it's, literally, the best they've got.

let me translate into authentic frontier gibberish

"An Evening with Bill Maher" is Bill Maher comedy show- tickets $75.00

"Chairman's Reception" small room were local Dem's ridicule Republicans before comedy show- tickets $25.00

Ticket price for both $100.00

2012-03-15 04:42:41 PM
wambu: Bill Maher? Occasionally amusing; often a douchebag. He's the Dems' Rush Limbaugh.

Wait, when was the last time a Democratic politician apologized to Bill Maher?

2012-03-15 04:43:57 PM
PanicMan: DarnoKonrad: serpent_sky: Bill Maher is sitting around wondering how he never figured out to get half this much attention on his own...

Seriously, when was he ever considered a major influence on the politics of the left? The comparison is ridiculous, but I am sure Maher is loving the bumps in ratings and revenues.

When was he ever considered "left?"

When was he ever "considered"?

When was he ever?

2012-03-15 04:44:01 PM
Remember when John McCain called his wife a trollop and a coont?

Republicans were so outraged that they made McCain their nominee.

2012-03-15 04:44:28 PM
Marcus Aurelius: I would make the same demand on the grounds that Bill Maher is unwatchable.

He's watchable, if you kind of turn your head and glance from the corner of your eye. It's the listening I find grating.

keylock71: Republican women in Alabama...

Bless their hearts.

Or as I like to call them "c*nty tw*ts" or sometimes "tw*tty c*nts".

2012-03-15 04:45:23 PM
AdolfOliverPanties: Has Maher ever given a keynote address at a Democratic event equivalent to CPAC? Has he ever had prominent Democratic politicians apologize to him for offending him by questioning some of his over-the-line comments?

Better yet, was he ever made an honorary Congressman (new window) by the Democrats?

The Republican version of "clever" is much like a four-year-old child's version of "clever". Rather than just admit that Rush is a toxic gasbag, they going on some sort of bizarre crusade against Bill Maher- like maybe Maher is well-known or even well-liked in Democratic circles.

Seriously, these people don't even qualify as homo sapiens. They're more like the residue that slipped out after the normal child was born. They also appear to be too stupid to understand the difference between "insulting women" and "insulting self-aggrandizing media-whore Sara Palin."

2012-03-15 04:46:29 PM
Since Maher routinely mocks Alabama and other southern states on his HBO show; I find it difficult to believe he would ever go there.

I'm sure this will lead to more mockery in the near future.

2012-03-15 04:46:45 PM
I was unaware that Maher had done anything relevant since Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.

/so vote Shannon Tweed 2012

All all republican supporters disingenuous? Besides wedge issues folk are there really any 'true believers'?

2012-03-15 04:47:17 PM
"This is a vile, disgusting man who denigrates women,"

... said a Republican spokeswoman who idolizes Rush Limbaugh.

dahmers love zombie: More importantly, what do the shubs and zuuls think?

Hey, the Shubs keep the economy afloat unlike those filthy Zuuls with their iPads and useless Art/Lit degrees. GET A JOB HIPPIES!

2012-03-15 04:49:32 PM
The irony is, I don't think Maher considers himself a Democrat. Granted, he has far more left-leaning views than anything else, but I'm fairly certain I've heard him state on his show he considers himself Libertarian.

And I SO love him for this quote in a recent interview: "Libel laws were written
to protect law students speaking out on political issues from getting
called whores by Oxycontin addicts."

2012-03-15 04:50:04 PM
This is almost as stupid as being against voter ID laws.

2012-03-15 04:50:05 PM
Maher coont be hairy and tight!
And may all her constituents be white.

/wtf am I writing

2012-03-15 04:50:06 PM
Will Maher be wearing his comedian helmet? That's all I want to know.

2012-03-15 04:50:39 PM
The Republicans have, for a pretty long time, claimed to be inclusive. I guess this is another recent example of their efforts to make the functionally retarded feel at home in the Republican Party.

2012-03-15 04:52:36 PM
well it's a good thing they are protesting on the state capital steps instead of in Huntsville, that'll show them northern yanks

2012-03-15 04:53:14 PM
Bill should show up at the Republican press conference to ask them questions.

When was the last time a Democratic politician apologized to anybody?

JerkStore: or is he known for misogyny on a broader scale?

That all depends on if you understand the meaning of the word 'misogyny'...

I think it was JUST for the Palin comment, people equating his hatred for one woman with Limbaugh's constant belittlement of any woman who dares to act like she is equal to Limbaugh the Hutt...

In other words, it's only the same to butt-hurt Repubs.

SkinnyHead: Ctrl-Alt-Del: The Alabama Democrats webpage says nothing about such an event. In fact, they're having a rather large event on that day somewhere else entirely

What about this:

http://www.aladems.org/events/bill-maher

Uh, this appears to be some sort of fabrication designed to make it look like this bullshiat story is real. Making all the links go to aldemocrats.org is a good touch, though.

Making up a lie about someone liberals don't really pay much attention to in the first place is somehow going to make us all vote for Mittens? Is this the best the conservatives can do?

I'm not sure they understand that this is the Internet and people can figure this stuff out pretty easily.

Judging from their candidates for President of the United States, I'd say yes.

But Mable down at the Dew Drop Inn told me Maher would be there. And she heard it from her cousin's boyfriend's aunt's brother in law who got it in an email from his old army buddy.

2012-03-15 05:10:33 PM
Shana Kluck, communications director for the state Republican Party, said the Democratic promotional invitation was meant to lead people to think that Maher would be at the reception or the Democrats are guilty of false advertising.
""This is a vile, disgusting man who denigrates women," Kluck said.

So "BSABSVR" is an official strategy now.
