Ah, I remember the outrage when someone would suggest that back when these sex with a minor cases used to just be male teachers with female students.

Legally the dude is too young to give consent (but not too young to be tried as an adult, oddly) so it doesn't matter if he was willing. The problem, really, is that she knew that and did it anyway.

But yeah, the relationship was probably mutually beneficial in its own weird psychosexual sort of way. You could say that this is yet another piece of evidence that our venerable code of laws could use a complete overhaul, but in the meantime these are the rules we have.

I didn't raise the issue of double standards. I think teenage girls can be just as willing as teenage boys, especially because women tend to develop sexually before men. But I agree. It's not like this is new phenomena.
