He didn't have to work too hard last night since Kimmo was back and the defense played well, but he still did a great job. I'm just glad Briere is scoring again.

If Bryz plays well and if they can get scoring from Briere, the Flyers have a very good team.

With Meszaros and Kubina healthy they probably have the best 6-deep defense group in the NHL.

But who the hell knows with this team.

Apparently I was close to being one of the three stars of the game with my 0 pts, 34 chips eaten performance last night.

Yeah, that's..... puzzling. Couturier probably earned it with his steals on the PK and goal.

I'm not worried. I hope the Devils keep that 6th spot. I have a feeling the Penguins are going to jump the rags for the 1st spot. Setting up a Rags/Flyers 1st round. As long as the Devils get hot before the playoffs, and win the first round...I say let the two of them beat the crap out of each other, and we'll finish the other one off in the 2nd round.

Yeah, the right to play Florida in the 1st round isn't too bad a spot, lol, I just get nervous playing the seeding game.

As Kenny said last night, don't choose your opponents, and I completely agree. However, that being said, the mess that the South East division is, it seems as though no one wants that 3rd place spot.

Pens still have to play the Flyers three times before then. The Atlantic seeding is getting interesting. Heck, it's been interesting all year.

i never fell off Breezy being a star goaltender, you can't fake a whole season with those numbers especially with the yotes.

I am really surprised that with the D injuries, fluke deflection goals, giveaways and odd man rushes that most fans turned so fast. After last nights game hopefully he turned a corner with fans and wont get looked at as a bad goalie even if he has a bad game.

Confidence is key to goalending in the NHL, just by making it there you already have the athleticism and talent.

What happened there? I kept seeing the score ticker during the game and thought Stamkos was just having an explosion. Was it just an off night for the B's?

The team might, weak D with injuries and young players might not be clicking on all cylinders so they might not understand that every little thing counts that much more in the post season but I doubt Breezy will be the reason if the Flyers don't win.

Turco was rusty, and the defense was just abysmal. I can't find it on Youtube, but the second goal of the night was just a comedy of errors that simply cannot be replicated if you tried.

No chance. Crosby coming back is the worst thing that could happen for the Pens right now. Everyone on the team will be more concerned with supporting his comeback than winning games. Malkin will start taking shifts off again. Crosby will end up being a non-factor (less than a PPG) for the rest of the season.

This pretty much sums it up:

"Lest anyone pin this all on injuries, stop. Certainly, the Bruins are banged up. But since winning a game at Phoenix on Dec. 28, the Bruins are now 16-17-2, a pace that would produce a mere 80 points over the course of a full season. Last season, there were only five teams in the entire NHL to finish with a lower point total, which should give you some indication of just how far the Bruins have fallen in the relative blink of an eye." First Tampa goal was kicked in, and the video review blew that call, period. Hardly a game changer however, as the Bruins are flat out painful to watch, and have been for a while now. It just seems to be getting worse game by game.

The team has no faith in their goaltending, which makes them play with far less confidence on the offensive side of things... just a giant clusterfark. Rolston is no Recchi, which is what seems to have been intended by that deal, and the other new guys are completely forgettable additions.

They'll be a first round exit this year... and they're a great reason why giving division leaders home ice is a bad idea... this team should be struggling to even make the off season, not be in second just because the rest of their division is just that bad.

Which leaves me in a bind as far as who to root for in the playoffs? A good buddy is a Rangers fan, so I suppose there's that.

I've had a hunch about the Flyers since he caught fire. I'd even go so far as to predict a finals appearance.

The West is not so clear- some teams are losing steam. The Predators would be my dark horse pick.

No. It was a deflection, which is allowed. It takes a lot for Toronto to change the ruling on the ice, and what they saw was that there was pretty obviously no kicking motion.

I know there's a sense among many fans that video review is never ever wrong, but that isn't true (new window). And the goal being called correctly wouldn't change anything anyhow (unlike the Hossa one, which could have arguable changed much.)

And never did I say that the war room is never wrong. Just that it takes a lot for them to reverse a call.

Here, I see a perfectly executed ankle-turn re-direct. However, I've also seen plays where a net-driver is braking hard (lots of snow), has a puck unknowingly deflect in off his leading skate (at the top of the crease), and they call it kicked in...

I didn't say it would make them a worse team... I said it would disrupt the current streak they're on by changing the team dynamic in a big way. And it will. The Penguins have spent the whole season dialing their chemistry and are seeing consistency out of Malkin that they haven't seen in years. With Crosby back, I think Malkin's pace will fall off, and the team will make Crosby's recovery their biggest priority.

Also, I was replying to the silly claim that the Penguins would overtake the Rangers for the top spot in the East. It wasn't going to happen before, and Crosby coming back makes it even less likely. The guy's played what?... 8 games this season? Best player in the league or not, he's not going to show up and start putting up points like Malkin has been.

Crosby played 8 games and had 12 points. If he keeps up that streak, he's keeping up with Malkin's pace. Besides, Bylsma already said that the Kunitz, Malkin, Neal line isn't breaking up and that Crosby is playing with Kennedy and Cooke. Thus, Malkin will keep his chemistry with his linemates.

Yeah, but he won't. It'll be round two of the playoffs before Crosby is back to his old self. (If the Pens make it that far.) Crosby is going to be putting up less than a point per game for a while.

With all due respect ...
I disagree because Crosby has been on the ice practicing with the team this whole time.
