Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Big deal.

Rush is not going to disappear anytime soon. These gross accusations are entirely inflated.

He is a huge star with massive ratings and a gigantic fan base. The oversized profits he brings to Clear Channel are filling the ample pockets of their investors as they should be. And there is nothing fat-cat democrats like George Soros can do about it.

Go ahead and rent the Goodyear blimp. Fly it around oversized liberal enclaves such as Aspen and paste "Rush Limbaugh was mean to a college broad" on the bigassed sides of the hulking airship.

See how much pressure that will load onto the existing tonnage libtards already thrust upon this giant of media? None!

Sorry if that hurts anyones overinflated ego.

No matter how much weight the libs bring down nothing is going to stop those bulging bags of cash from El Rushbo's meaty fingers.

I prefer Sporkymandias:

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-- "Two vast and tineless forks of stone
Stand near the desert (cart)... Near them, on the sand
Half sunk, a bowl-less spoon there lies, whose handle
And plastic lip, and smear of cold lentil soup,
Tell that its sculptor well those utensils knew
Which yet survive, stamped out in plastic thousands,
The hand that which held them and the heart they fed;

And on the serving cart, these words appear:
My name is Sporkymandias, Spoon of Spoons and Fork of Forks,
Look on my Sporks, ye hungry and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and empty fast-food tables stretch far away.

An interesting little rumor: HBO is losing subscribers because of Bill Maher's much worse comments - and the recent hatchet job movie on Sarah Palin. Apparently, a LOT of people decided to suddenly drop HBO last week, and are telling the company why when they cancel their service.

dr_blasto:
Wait, what?

Yeah, a lot of people watched it. It's controversial, and got a lot of advance press.

The left-wingers thought it was great, gave it good reviews, then watched something else. The right-wingers watched it to see what had been done, realized what HBO thought of them, and a bunch of them cancelled HBO after it aired.

By the way... the "successful" HBO movie had, on its premiere night, after all of that advertising and promotion, about half as many viewers as the first episode of "Sarah Palin's Alaska." For that matter, "Game Change" was beaten by "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel in that premiere night time slot.

I call BS. Teabaggers can't afford HBO.

the Rethuglicans are making asses of themselves

If you're going to whine about how horrible the right wing is, you might try NOT using words like "Rethuglican." All it does is wave a flag for the middle-of-the-road people to disregard everything you say.

Or complain about horrible old Rush Limbaugh, while the left idolizes people like Bill Maher and the other "edgy" comedians who warm up with worse stuff than Limbaugh ever says.

For the last couple of weeks, it's been "Limbaugh called that woman a slut!" "Kick him off the air!" "Arrest him!" while ignoring much, MUCH worse comments from pretty much all of the similar folks on their side. It's starting to bite back, though - Louis C.K. had a gig cancel on him this week because of his recently-publicized comments about Sarah Palin (which, proportionally, is a lot worse financially for him than what happened to Limbaugh).

Limbaugh defenders keep weeping about this Bill Maher: how everyone on the "left" or who despises Limbaugh loves Maher. Maybe it's because I haven't had a fully functioning TV in years, but until Limbaugh hit the smelly fan, I had never heard of Maher. I don't give a rats' ass about Maher. If you love Maher so much that you have to drone on and on about him, fine you can have Maher. Offer yourself as his love slave if it makes you happy.

Louis CK canceled his appearance at this year's Radio & TV Congressional Correspondents dinner.

...literally the day after Greta Van Susteren cited his comments on Palin, including the language he used (which was much, much worse than anything Limbaugh has ever said on air), and said she was going to boycott the dinner if he showed up.

The "he just didn't want to do it anymore" bit is a sad spin on what really happened. Yeah, he just spontaneously decided to not do a gig, giving up thousands of dollars, the day after someone pointed out that his comments were immensely worse than Limbaugh's.

Booking agent: "Hey, Louis? Yeah, the Radio and TV Congressional Correspondents dinner? They just called and told me 'you just decided to cancel the gig,' because they don't want you to show up and point out how hypocritical they are for whining about Limbaugh this week for saying something about a tenth as bad as what you said about Sarah Palin and every other woman on the planet."

/for my money, Rush will be dropped by several more stations (especially when they have Huckabee's new show to turn to) and will eventually get the can.

Gee, that's only going to leave him on... um... six hundred stations. He's down two so far.

"Eventually" can be a long, long time.

Some folks are going on about how is audience is down about a third from a couple of years ago, but forgot that political shows always go up and down with the election cycle. He's going to take a short-term money hit from this, but his audience will stay the same (or increase), and he'll be able to charge a lot for the new advertisers that will be lining up this fall - especially for political ads.

One more thing to note: the "141 sponsors that bailed on Limbaugh" were really "a list of companies that don't want to air on any controversial show, including morning shock jocks," and most of the companies on "the list" never advertised on his show in the first place. A bunch of his regular advertisers are laying low right now, but they'll be back after the next big Democrat panic starts up.

Their church is suffering from genetic stagnation. You can tell by all the herp they derp that most of them are inbred. By drawing more members to their church, they can spread the genes a bit more.

Define "survive." I mean, I'm 60% sure he will live through it, though death by aneurysm, heart attack or drug overdose are all on the table. If you mean "keep his radio show"... well, that's a tough one. I mean, he has such a loyal following, but they're fairly close, in my opinion, to the rabid Howard Stern fans that kept him on satellite radio even after he was off of FM. I'm about 85% for him ending up on internet or satellite only by six months from now.

...hopefully, for him, satellite. Internet radio is where Alex Jones lies.

Limbaugh's controversial comments on Sandra Fluke's personal life and testimony have cost him over 140 sponsors and forced Premiere Radio Networks to suspend national ads for at least two weeks.

Everything's fine. Just fine. No worries at having to eat 2 weeks worth of advertising. When I quit my job at Clear Channel in 2006 we had to ask for pens and paper, which were stored in a locked cabinet. The company was so cheap they refused to provide kleenex.

I'm sure this isn't troubling the bean counters at all.
