Time for hizzoner Judge I.M. Crazypants to resign.

Well, as a pretend lawyer on Fark, I'd say there is precedence - uh, the case of MaryAnn vs. Ginger, as well as The Castaways vs. The State of Hawaii, which, uh, as we all know, ended with the execution of Giiligan, and Hawaii becoming the 51st state.

Does the article consist of incoherent rambling, or is it just me?

Why? Because he had the nerve to put a little humor in what would otherwise be a boring document? It looks like he made the correct decision using sound logic. Isn't that his job?

I read about as much of that article as anyone who is likely to comment here but I had to wonder: Why would the descendants of the captain have any claim to that ship? Was he also the owner? Being related to someone who lost a ship is hardly legal grounds for claiming ownership of the wreck.

Um,

Done with #1.

I may have read one or two sentences more than you. It was not comfortable, you did the right thing. But I did learn something. The descendants of the capt. were the ones paying for the excavation. So... you know, what up with that?

Less redundant.

The only strange thing about the whole incident is that maritime law is usually much drier than that.

He's not crazy, he's a bully and a showoff. His job description doesn't include mocking people from the safety of his judicial bench, particularly when those people have no choice but to sit there and take it. You can damn well be sure that if someone other than him tried to "put a little humor" into a court proceeding he'd be the first one to be outraged.

I'm all for levity when a situation calls for it, but this guy is being a smarmy douchebag because he knows he can get away with it. F#ck him.

Abuse of power indeed.

Remove him from the bench.

fark you, corporate/business felliatiators. Once the captain leaves the ship, it's abandoned property. I don't give a rat's ass what the completely corrupt governments of the world say.

Precedent would call for giving him his own late morning TV show.

Many of you are missing the bigger issue here: this is a judge that publicly admits to liking Gilligan's Island. You know what that means?

WE HAVE A HONEST-TO-GAVEL JUDGE TO RULE ONCE AND FOR ALL IN THE GINGER vs. MARY ANN DEBATE!!!

I think I just came in my coconuts ;)

Few things are more of a pain in the ass than properly identifying a 19th. century shipwreck.

Or a German submarine

And I agree with Baracaded Gunman. fark that jack-off judge. He should be forced to listen to the entirety of Hamlet The Musical performed by the students of a school for the deaf. (the judge, not BG)

This is why, if I were to find a shipwreck, I'd never reveal the location until I could claim it for myself. Not mine? OK, it's all yours, but you still have to find it.
