So why should your daughter abstain from sex?

1. You don't want to feed / raise / church her lovechild.
2. Men won't marry a woman who has a kid, and your daughter wants to be a wife
3. Disease will make her toxic and undesirable (see 2)
4. Intercourse will distract her from becoming economically viable
5. Sexually bonding with a fellow student will shift her future goals to "Marry, make baby"
6. It will affect your social standing if it gets out that your daughter puts out
7. All her sex -EVER - should be with whomever gets the nerve up to ask her to marry
8. She has a drug problem and will make crack baby.
9. She can't support a new baby - and neither can you
10. None of the men interested in her are the kind you want for a son-in-law (or baby-daddy)
11. You've pledged her to your business partner as a condition for that last loan.
12. She will make ugly babies
13. Becoming pregnant or giving birth will kill her.
14. She has so many dreams she'll never achieve. Why take them away from her now?

These guys are based out of MN, they routinely set up tables with literature outside of well trafficked stored and then aggressively panhandle for donations. It's so freaking obnoxious that they are usually asked to leave within minutes. Michele Bachmann helped them score some federal cash for a van and store front "ministry" during the Bush years. So this is your tax dollars at work.

Why any school official would let these guys within a mile of their school is a complete mystery.

Over the years, I've enjoyed many Christian metal, hardcore, punk, and/or rap/rock bands (though some later began to shy away from being a "Christian" band).

Project 86, Zao, Norma Jean, Demon Hunter, The Chariot, Training for Utopia, Officer Negative, Stronghold, 90lb Wuss, Slick Shoes, MxPx, Stavesacre, and plenty of others.

That said, I really hate it when a Christian band does something that can clearly be construed as hateful or bigoted. The idea is to spread the Gospel, not condemn the shiat out of anyone who doesn't yet believe exactly what you believe or act exactly as you act.

Are there public schools that do abortions? I wasn't aware that this was the case but you never know.

Yup. You would think it is a joke but sadly it is not.

Link (new window)

First, the school did not perform the abortion. They helped her get to an abortion provider. So no, public schools do not do abortions but this one does help girls who want one get one, at least in this one case.

FTA:

"Angry as the mother is that she was not informed about her daughter's quest and receipt of an abortion, the health clinic at the school did not break any laws.

Under Washington state law, parental consent is not required when providing health care to minors, even when that care includes abortion."

"At any age in the state of Washington, an individual can consent to a termination of pregnancy," said Cosgrove.

So the school has done nothing illegal either. But she didn't have to use the school. She could have asked another adult completely unrelated to the school to help her get an abortion. So trying to imply that the school is doing abortions is quite a reach in this case.

John 8
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

11 "No one, sir," she said.

"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

On subject, yes, this is absolutely true. Of course, I remember being aghast that my elementary school got MC Hammer to perform - and he played "Pray"! Not only was the music bad, but they were mixing religion & government - something I knew was bad even back then.

...I meant that they let anyone be alone with children. Schools are proxy parents legally. They can't leave children alone with strangers because it's dangerous. Christian or not, it was irresponsible for the adults to leave the room.

I knew a kid who wrote a virginity rap who then played bass for a 'Christian Death Metal' band. Last I knew he was down in Minneapolis area, so I'm getting a nauseous kick. The lyrics were as brilliant as the concept of Christian death metal: "I don't want sex, I don't need sex, get the sex out of my hex, it's a vex, I don't want it."

/bonus: a classmate told this kid that proper masturbation requires a mixture of applesauce and vinegar. I guess it makes sense that a "gritty-squints" rub might turn someone onto the whole celibacy thing.

Well, apparently the parents aren't doing that good of a job in the first place because their daughter is pregnant.

Exactly. And I'm sure that telling her to lie to her parents will have absolutely no I'll effects on her relationship with her parents or her psychological health. It's not like an unwanted pregnancy and abortion is a big event in her life or anything. It's so much better to have her lie and keep secrets from them. Besides if she does suffer any ill emotional or psychological effects we can just take her to a shrink without her parents knowledge or consent and tell her to lie and keep secrets about that too.

It's a much smaller life event than a full term pregnancy and birth.

The school didn't provide the abortion. The school provided a space for the Swedish Clinic to operate a health clinic that provided a venue option (not on campus) for an abortion in a state who's law does not require parental consent.
