I supposed I didn't realize it was bad enough to be under observation by RWB.

You don't know about The List?

Look up "australian web censorship." They're pretty nazi over there, but then what would you expect?

Handjobs are ok, but for a totally mind-blowing orgasm, a trunkjob is the way to go.

Hm, that was bizarre - Fark just got mentioned on my local news. They quoted a headline: "Old broad goes viral" about that nice senior citizen restaurant reviewer in Grand Forks who was impressed by Olive Garden.

Fark is famous now.

Ditto.

If we're saying that just by using a .com URL you are now under US jurisdiction, then locking up Google and Facebook execs for breaking Indian law (or Indonesian, or Saudi Arabian, or Iranian, ad nauseum) is also perfectly fine. I'm looking forward to Disney execs being beheaded in Saudi Arabia because "John Carter" is offensive to Islam.

32oz High Life: Indian people are very sensitive and have a weird idea of freedom. See the Jaipur Literature Festival: "Cancellation of Rushdie's India visit a victory of democracy" (new window)

Democracy != freedom
Democracy = mob rule

That's why you need a constitution guaranteeing freedom from the mob. E.g. You don't need an amendment guaranteeing popular speech, it's the unpopular speech which needs protection.

India, the country which hasn't yet decided if reliable infrastructure, hygiene or public safety are good ideas. How's that caste system working out for ya?

bemis23: Disclaimer: I'm a huge opponent of censorship so when I say this please understand that it's partially tongue-in-cheek as I do not actually think this way:

I'm totally ok with the Indian government destroying Facebook. fark Zuckerberg, fark Facebook. I'm ok with this.

Facebook's not for everyone. For example, if you don't have any friends or family who are smart or funny then Facebook can be depressing and annoying.

When I think of India, execs, and jail time, the next word that comes to mind is "outsourcing".

I see a member of the press has decided to weigh in on the matter. From TFA comments:

they are trying to protect their people's beliefs and ideas you dolt. just because they don't wear affliction and drink beer doesn't mean they are backwards.

Can anybody guess why so many of us don't really trust the faithful?

I'm ashamed of my country sometimes.

So if this kid can be extradited for violating US law but didn't violate UK law, then India is in the right and can extradite Zuckerberg for violation of Indian law.

Frizbone: Simple solution: Make Facebook unavailable to Indians.

Problem is, each facebook account generates a fair amount of cash. I've heard estimates of over $100 for accounts in the US (not sure about India), so if you cut off over 1 billion people from that, your revenue stream is going to take a serious hurting.

I say let other countries arrest american citizens for breaking foreign laws, after all, the government of america is arresting foreign citizens for breaking american laws and getting away with it...
laws? we don't need no stinkin laws!
hopefully, they go after the politicians!

In a nation wherein people of Hindu, Sheikh, and Islamic faith have been murdering each other for close to a milenia, I believe thatsomecensorship really isn't that bad. Hell, look up the 1948 Partition and it's aftermath.

Since i have basilbrush (boom! boom!) favourited as a kiwi, I imagine s/he was referencing Kim DotCom.

Can't believe the UK government allowed that young man to be extradited. The NZ government has the poor excuse of being frightened, business-whoring right wingers from a tiny country that has to suck up to the big boys. What's the UK's excuse?

It's not just a nation. It's a whole region that just doesn't understand how grown-ups operate. And censorship helps to keep that sort of ignorance and stupidity going. These losers are actually arguing, in the 21st century no less, that people should be punished for 'blasphemy'.

F**k them. If they don't want to accept the things that grown-ups can handle, then they can shut off the internet and try to take their country back to the Third World. But they won't of course. There are too many people in India who aren't stupid.

Just how intrusively is Reporters Without Borders surveilling those red countries?
