RedT: Voters Slowly realizing Santorum Believes Every Deranged Word That Comes Out of His Mouth (new window)

THIS

/it's satire . . .I think.

Sadly, it is satire. Whether willfully or because they honestly don't know any better, Santorum's supporters are blithely unaware of just how flaming-underpants-on-head retarded he sounds.

Remember the description of Newt Gingrich? "A dumb person's idea of what a smart person sounds like?" Rick Santorum is the candidate for those voters who don't trust a candidate who even sounds intelligent.

No, those plants will be fine! All that CO2 in the atmosphere, you see, will help them grow back faster!

Hey Rick, you know how I know you didn't actually watch An Inconvenient Truth?

Environmentalists and proponents of the theory of anthropogenic climate change know that carbon dioxide is good for plants. That's one reason why we're called tree-huggers. The more plants the better.

Incidentally, you wouldn't happen to be in favor of deregulating the logging industry or encouraging industrial and other development in national forests, would you?

I get it. He is taking his supply side views of economics to environmentalism. If we produce more CO2 it will make MORE TREES even though we a cutting down trees which actually mean there is LESS CO2 being converted to oxygen.

The biggest avoidable environmental disaster the earth has ever known happened a billion years ago when plants started spewing free oxygen into the atomosphere.
In the great Oxygen Catastrophe plant emissions killed 99% of the non-plant species on earth. Short of a world-wide nuclear war, plants have done worse than anything humans will ever do. Of course without plants there would be no humans and no oil so I guess its all in your frame of reference.

A soil-gas survey by USGS scientists in 1994 revealed that the roots of the trees were being killed by exceptionally high concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas in the soil. Today there are more than 100 acres of dead and dying trees around Mammoth Mountain. The town of Mammoth Lakes, just east of this volcano, has not been affected. Recent measurements indicate a gradual decline in CO2 flux over the past several years, although CO2 continues to pose a hazard in the high-flux areas such as Horseshoe Lake. (new window)

farking moron.

CO2 is killing those trees by depriving their roots of oxygen, where the soill CO2 gas content can be up to 950,000 PPM!!! (that's 2000 to 3000X higher than our atmospheric CO2 right now and would kill most life on earth. This is in no way related to the processes involved in global warming.

But hey you keep telling people you hate they're they're morans.

To be fair, neither Palin nor Gore said those things. The problem is largely the media. The pants-on-head candidates only gain credibility because of the "equal time for all sides" chickenshiat approach of our media.

Okay, I'm paraphrasing; but my point is that I could list four common gaffers in US government (I know, I know, Palin holds no office) just off the cuff and could probably list ten more if I thought about it for a minute. Can you quote four members of any other country's current governing body? Probably not. All other governments are less like a comedic pseudo-reality show than the US.

Great tv ratings, sure, but what has it done for you lately?

Well, he is a moron, but he didn't say atmospheric CO2. ""The dangers of carbon dioxide? Tell that to a plant, how dangerous carbon dioxide is," he said." As a blanket statement, excess CO2 can poison plants. They need oxygen as well as CO2 to survive.

But I'm being pedantic, I freely admit that. I like precise statements.

And again, Rick Santorum is a moron, or worse, pretending to be one to win votes.

so I'm taking a HazMat course and we were talking about EPA regulations regarding primary pollutants, DOT regulations concerning shipping hazardous materials, etc....

There is a NA/UN (North America/United Nations) numbering scheme for labeling hazardous materials for shipping. The instructor wrote "UN" on the board and asked what we know about this. The guy next to me said, "Well I know they don't want us to have guns."
He received supportive chuckles. I just stared.

Then, somehow, the instructor manages to quickly inject his criticism of the EPA for wanting to classify CO2 as a primary pollutant, saying we all exhale it and plants need it.

I could have spent the entire 8-hour class arguing with these people but I just wanted to stay on topic and GTFO.

Keep in mind that the post you're responding to is in relation to the claim from TFA that CO2 cannot be dangerous since it's biologically important to plants, and does a fairly good job of refuting that. You're right that this is in "no way related to processes involved in global warming", but it doesn't need to be, nor does it appear it was meant to in the first place.

What is it with these jerks? is pollution GOD approved now? Is it so out there to them to suggest that we take care of what GOD gave us... like maybe thats part of our test...like if you give a few people all the wealth of a nation do they, share it or continue to horde it all for themselves.
