becksellent: iron_city_ap: Mike Wallace isn't listed? I'm guessing its due to his being an RFA instead of a UFA.

"No Mike Wallace?" was my first thought as well. I guess that makes sense, though.

/hoping PIT can hang onto him, but if not, I have a feeling things will work out.
//would rather not have to go that route though ;)

redmid17: He sucked as a 4-3 DE. I don't think he'd do too well as a 2 gap 3-4 DE since he's fairly light (~270) and thrives on penetration. He would have trouble holding up against the POA if he had to cover two gaps, and I'm fairly certain that is how Capers designs his defenses.

Thanks for the info. Can you think of any free agents that might fit the mold of a 3-4 DE?

one of those: Bucs got a ton of money to spend but too many holes to fill, I doubt they'll sign VJax, Nicks, Lofton, AND Finnegan, but damn it'd be nice. I'd be happy with two of them.

one of those: maybe 2 and a Tolbert thrown in

Lofton asking for $9m/yr supposedly, kinda steep. We'll see how that Nicks visit works out, keeping my fingers crossed on him and Tolbert.

Jamaal Anderson, Tyler Brennan, Luis Castillo, Cory Redding (talking to Colts), Shaun Ellis

Anderson played real well as a 4-3 DE for the Colts, but he's got the size and length to play 3-4. I'd be surprised if the Colts didn't try to keep him. He's going to be cheap and young. If you want experience, I'd go with Castillo, but he's not going to be anything more than solid.

Eh, we hear that every year. ;) It'll be interesting to see how next season plays out, though. I feel like the AFC North is going to be a biatch this year - the Ravens are pretty much always contenders, Dalton/Green looked like a damn good combo in Cincy last year, and if the Browns get some weapons who knows how things could turn out. But I still have faith in my boys in black & gold. :D

QB Jason Campbell reached agreement with the Bears on a one-year deal.

Why would he do this?

He saw what happened to the Bears after Cutler went down for the season. No one was going to give Campbell a starting job

Why wouldn't they? He's probably the third best FA QB I can think of, off the top of my head(Under Peyton and Flynn).

I'd say 3rd or 4th, but it's really doesn't matter after Manning or Flynn. Either way, the teams that are gunning for QBs are going to want to aim for Manning or Flynn. Most of the other teams either don't want to stunt young QB development (Jags, 49ers (maybe), or Vikes), have already invested in QBs (Boys, Jets), or are in a position to draft someone they think is much better than Campbell (Seattle, Cleveland, Bills, etc...).

I suspect a lot of teams are in the same boat as the Seahawks for QB now. Yeah, Tarvaris Jackson isn't phenomenal, but he knows the system. Is bringing in Jason Campbell or Drunken Neckbeard to start over at the QB position really going to be a great improvement?

That too. I thought up a whole bunch of good reasons, and then forgot to list the most obvious one. The money for the non-guaranteed, slight improvement probably isn't worth it. I don't think anyone sane person would argue that Jackson is any good, but adding another contract just takes up cap space that can be allocated to a useful FA or resigning another player.

Anderson would be a quality rotation DL for sure. He played really well for the Colts for a small contract. He switched back and forth between DE and DT too, so he's more of the Cullen Jenkins type. Carriker resigned with the Redskins a couple of hours ago unless I missed something that happened very recently.

This is surprising, but as a Colts fan, I'm glad to see he's coming back. I agreed with the mass release of players earlier this week, but after losing Garcon earlier today, it's nice to know that Luck will have a sure-handed veteran to throw to. Wow, the Redskins actually made free agent moves that WEREN'T unthinkable? Color me shocked.

As a Redskins fan, I wish the best for Santana Moss, but I think he'd be out soon. Garcon and Morgan combined might end up being a nice pair to go with RGIII.

Somewhat disappointed Campbell went to the Bears as a backup, I'd like to have seen him continue being an NFL starter, but hey, Cutler might get injured.

Oh no I agree. Smart move by Grigson. Helps Luck out and ameliorates some of the bad juju from the mass releases last week. TBH I wouldn't mind seeing Collie get more snaps on the outside though. He tore up Denver in 2010 (12 catches, 170 yards, 2 TDs) when he played outside because Garcon was hurt.

He doesn't suck. He isn't a top flight QB, but he has been a good game manager QB and a solid starter. He's certainly better than Carson Palmer and a lot of other QBs and would provide a good veteran option to any team that is looking to draft a QB/has a bad starter(Cardinals come to mind). But he's on the Bears now, so moot point.
