Nobody is saying they don't want to pay taxes, or don't want to contribute to their local governments. What they want is for that government to demonstrate they can manage the money they already have in a more responsible way, before we give them more. Does the govt really need more money or are they just spending what they have poorly? If you give your 13 year old daughter money to buy new clothes for school, and she spends it all on a $200 pair of jeans, then asks you for more to complete her wardrobe, do you just hand over more money? No, you tell her it's ridiculous to spend that much money on jeans, when a $25 pair would suffice. "I'm not made of money, you know!"

majestic: Been there, done that. All they do is change the valuation index (multiplier) to offset the decrease in value. So, old value 150k x 1% = you owe $1500 in taxes. New value 100k x 1.52% = you owe $1520 in taxes. Complete, utter bullshiat. But only the government can't spend less. Me, oh sure, why do I need any luxuries in my life?

Yeah! We don't need functioning streetlights, traffic signals, schools, or police and fire services! Those are goddamned luxury items and should be cut! Fark all of you, I got mine!

If only local communities would stop splurging on sidewalk repairs, school buses and subsides to companies so they stay in the area, we might not need so many jackbooted thugs showing up at peoples' doorsteps with guns in one hand and the other outstretched for their yearly tithe!

Seriously, how DARE they charge me for stuff I use or things that make my community better?! Assholes!

hmm...kind of like gas prices.
Commodity goes up, price goes up immediately
Commodity goes down...price goes down with leisure.

wademh: Seriously, my real estate taxes pay for local schools, fire and police, local roads. Those costs haven't dropped.

When my house value tripled, my taxes one went up by 15%. But whinge away. Complaining about taxes is never about maths or logic.

But when the "appraised" value of homes go up those costs go up? What was that about logic?

That's no shiat. I actually have a meeting tomorrow morning with the county appraisal board to protest my valuation this year. they're claiming I made over 6,000 dollars in improvements to my house this year....but cutting down my trees and tearing down my fence. I'm calling their bullshiat. Tired of the valuation going up, which in turn drives the taxable amount of the house up, which drives the insurance up because the house is 'worth' more.

So farking sick of this whole deal. farking theives, man. If they think my house has gained 6k in value, they can come and farking buy it.
