LlamaGirl: YOU should come.

I'll have to be there in spirits.
Whiskey to be precise.

2012-03-22 02:35:01 PM

Raging Thespian: Curse you, NuttySquirrel! Always making things difficult! :P

I'll leave the question open a tad longer so folks can weigh in on this.

BUT ST PAUL SUCKS! :P

Corks sounds fun.

Good point. We should probably do Suzi's.

LlamaGirl: Corks sounds fun.

STOP TOYING WITH ME!

Raging Thespian: STOP TOYING WITH ME!

The menu is making me drool okay.

Minneapolis is closer to my neck of the suburbs...

Though it doesn't matter that much to me. Hooray indecision!

Any good patios in St. Paul?

Just got the go ahead to make plans for this party. If you are still looking for a location I suggest the Triple Rock Social Club. (new window)

I still need to work out the details but it's tentatively on.

2012-03-23 01:49:14 AM
Y'all figure out a place, so I know where to road trip to?

(yeah, I said "y'all". We talk funny in KY)

I'm up for either, really.

If people are coming in from out of town, I can't imagine the Cedar-Riverside area offering such a great impression. I mean, it's a few blocks from our famed "Crack Stacks" after all.

Suzi's is always a good choice. I'd offer up Brit's as an option because of the awesome rooftop patio, but that's only if the weather continues to cooperate. Otherwise it can get pretty jammed.

On a Friday or Saturday it will be jammed if the weather is good. We had one there a few years ago, it worked just fine. I love their patio and their chow is pretty good too for those who are looking that way as well.

2012-03-23 06:46:12 PM
Psycho Suzi's it is then.

2012-03-23 11:11:38 PM
Tiki drinks and tator tots for everyone!

2012-03-26 01:31:58 PM
...can I come? Do I need Totalfark?

2012-03-26 02:57:12 PM
Wow, I actually thought to look here before a Fark party happens, instead of finding out about it the day after.

I'll be there, unless I forget.

Oh, and if doing Suzi's, get a reservation. Last time I was there when it was nice, there was a 45 minute wait for a 2 person table on the patio.

Oh, and farking parking. Plan on taking 20 minutes to find a place to park.

dv-ous: ...can I come? Do I need Totalfark?

You absolutely can come! Farkers of all stripes are welcome to attend.

EMCGuy: Oh, and if doing Suzi's, get a reservation. Last time I was there when it was nice, there was a 45 minute wait for a 2 person table on the patio.

I'm hoping we'll be there early enough in the day (and early enough in the year) for this to not be too much of an issue. Last time we went they said I couldn't reserve tables but the upstairs bar was practically empty at 6pm. We'll be trying that again as well as trying to stake out some turf out on the patio.

Just a reminder to everyone:
- go to the Preferences tab of your user profile, go down to Location Preferences, enter zip code, check "set home location to your zipcode"
- go to the Notifications tab, turn on "emailing of submitted Fark Parties within x miles of my location"

and voila, no more missing nearby parties.

Yeah this could be a bit simpler -- it's on the todo list

I don't suppose you know if an e-mail actually went out about this? When this was first greenlit there was no location added.

2012-03-26 06:21:39 PM
Probably not if there wasn't a location initially.

I do everything wrong. :-\

Might there be a way to have the notification go out? Sometime after Vegas perhaps?

I AM SO EXCITED AND THIS IS A MONTH AWAY!

2012-03-28 02:24:37 PM
As it turns out, I'll be in Chicago that weekend.

2012-03-28 04:56:45 PM

spidermann: as long as I don't have to hear the Super Mario Bros 2 world 2-2 theme in tiki I'm good. :)

This is where I get technical --- doesn't SMB2 only have an "Overworld" and "Underworld" theme? I.e., the World 2-2 theme is the same as 1-1?

Also, damn you, it's now stuck in my head.

Do do do do, do da do do dodadoduh do da doodleydo....

2012-03-28 09:53:20 PM
FYI, there is now a Facebook event. Anyone can join and then invite other Farkers on their friend list. I'm just sayin'.

Hey all!

Has it been officially declared at Suzi's? I'll send out an e-mail if it has...

:)

I may be too - its greek easter weekend and my bf and I typically goes home to his parents

2012-04-01 06:32:16 PM
I may be more of a FARK lurker, but i think i am free to attend this

2012-04-01 08:22:29 PM

Raging Thespian: Do people have any other suggestions of places to go?

So far we've heard:

Psycho Suzi's
Club Jager (possible drink deal but no food)
Grumpy's (Downtown or Roseville)

I'm leaning toward Suzi's just because it's a relatively fun place that's big enough and not too loud. But really, I'm up for anything that fits the bill.

The Onanist has a favorite pre-and-post-hockey bar in St. Paul, The American Burger Bar on Wabasha. It's decent sized, and they can probably accommodate a large-ish group, especially if someone calls ahead and tells them that about 20 farkers will be descending on them. There's a parking ramp right next door too, they do $2 parking on event nights if you get your ticket validated in the burger bar. It's $8 cash only up front, then they give you $6 back when you leave. I'm not sure if they do that every night or what, I've only ever been there on game nights.

The Amsterdam is also nice, but they may be having loud rock and/or roll on a Saturday night. That's about all I know for St. Paul. I'm always down with Psycho Suzie's since it's right in my 'hood.

Jim from Saint Paul: Raging Thespian: Jim from Saint Paul: LeroyBourne: I've never been to a Fark party, what do you guys/gals do besides drink?

I am pretty sure that's it.

Nonsense! We engage in all manner of intellectual pursuit like, um, talking. And er, drinking.

...Damnit.

It's fun though!

Yeah, I figured.

I know I'll probably pop in for a little bit wherever. I don't drink at ALL though so after a bit I'll discreetly exit as to not ruin your fun. :)

Thought I had posted this earlier, but apparently my phone ate it... I don't drink at ALL either, but I never felt like I was ruining anyone's fun because of it. Maybe your approach to "fun" is different from mine?

2012-04-01 10:41:12 PM
Yes, for all our big talk, drinking IS NOT REQUIRED AT FARK PARTIES.

/I'm going to get beaten up for saying that, aren't I?

There is something to be said about being everybody's favorite friend -- the designated driver.

Title fight that night, but I'll try to make it early for a couple.

Doogles4221: I may be more of a FARK lurker, but i think i am free to attend this

Lurkers are welcome.
Been to Fark parties where the lurkers outnumbered the... non-lurkers. They are usually slightly less lurk-y in person.

it is if you are a farkette and you want to find a farker attractive.

Not true! I met my bf at a Fark party.

Confirmed, I'll be at the party. How much money I have left for alcohol will be determined by whether I carpool with someone or not.

So it looks like I'll be there as will my friend, TFer/Liter "Beer and Bacon".

Lady Buk and I are coming. Just got tickets.
CHI-MSP under $140 each

Anybody know if the Kimpton on 2nd ave or the Hilton on Marquette are a better hotel?

Trust me, if you hear the Tiki music from the band long enough you will hear the theme and go "holy shiat...."

I don't drink either and I think the only person's fun I ruined was that crappy waitress we had that one time.

What?

SHE STARTED IT!!

Bukharin: Anybody know if the Kimpton on 2nd ave or the Hilton on Marquette are a better hotel?

I've hear that the Hilton is decent. I believe the "Klimpton" hotel is what we call The Grand Hotel and it's very nice. Used to have a pretty good sushi restaurant, not sure if it's still there or still good though.

Yeah, it's the grand.
The grand looks a little nicer in the rooms, but the hilton has a hot tub. Those are nice when hungover.

The waitress isn't there to have fun, that's why it's called "work" and not "super happy fun-time." Also, she did start it.
