People honestly believe that Romney will create a policy that will lower profits to oil companies gas prices?

Aar1012: People honestly believe that Romney will create a policy that will lower profits to oil companies gas prices?

He's loves oil - he's not as ardent a fan as some, but he has friends who own oil companies.

The president can do jack all about gas prices. Oh wait, he can raise them substantially if he starts an ill-advised war with a middle eastern country. Other than that though, there's not much the president can do.

The impact on presidential polls of rising gas prices just proves that there are a lot of idiots out there.

/and no, your farking pipeline proposal won't lower our gas prices. It will raise them. Fark off.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz... zzzzzzzzz...

/Romneybot demands the Presidency and $50 million, which are his due. Praise Joseph Smith!

If Romney gets Robio as VP and ties up the spanish vote, then there will be a landslide victory for Romney.

We can finally begin the process of rebuilding this country after the disastrous previous 3 1/2 years under Obama.

2012-03-12 12:06:24 PM
So it's energy this week? Foreign policy and domestic jobs not working out so well?

2012-03-12 12:07:49 PM
This is bad news... For Gasbama.

2012-03-12 12:08:19 PM
I think the early polls are pretty strongly biased in favor of the party running a primary. In this year's cycle, I doubt many democrats and independents have started thinking about the elections at this point in the game. That isn't to say that, once they do start thinking about it, they won't decide to back the Republican candidate, though..

2012-03-12 12:08:24 PM
Washington Post/ABC News poll....hrmmm, not really sure they are doing the best sampling job. Let's wait until a few more polls come out.

2012-03-12 12:08:47 PM
In other news, the majority of the people polled do not understand the world economic position, supply and demand, and the president's extremely limited role in either of those factors.

Why not? Bush did. He tanked the economy and gas prices at the same time. Romney can do it.

2012-03-12 12:09:29 PM
I am willing to bet house republicans and their desire to have a government shut down will not play well with the electorate. I would guess that will have a negative impact on Romney who has not yet faced the re election machine of Obama.

2012-03-12 12:10:29 PM
Uhhhh, what energy policy? We haven't actually had one, and that's the problem. Every president since Reagan has just kicked that can down the road - leadership-wise. In the end though, its really Congress's failing, not the president. Lest we forget, congress writes our laws and regulations.

But hey yeah, keep using that long-discredited BS talking point and blame the president. That'll fix everything.

2012-03-12 12:10:35 PM
I think any articles with polls showing candidates within 10 points of each other should be banned from being submitted until like 2 weeks out from the election. Whether it's Obama up in one poll or Romneypalooza up in another, they're meaningless and have the same boring comments in each one.

It'll be back to birth control and christian persecution soon, no worries.

I question the wisdom of going all in on the gasoline price when attacking Obama. If the gas price dropped (which the no one in the US really have any influence on it), this attack may backfired big time. But then again, GOP probably has nothing to lose at this point.

2012-03-12 12:11:00 PM
Honestly? Apart from derp, I have yet to hear a single coherent reason why anybody thinks putting a Republican in the White House is a good idea.

2012-03-12 12:11:28 PM
Therefore Sarah Palin is automatically President and Obama has to walk through Harlem wearing a sandwich board that says "I hate N*****s" to appease a terrorist.

2012-03-12 12:11:50 PM
Obama can shift the blame on this one by bringing out the stats that show increased energy production. I think we'll see a lot of that at the debates.

Will go something like this:

Rombot brings up gas prices, and accuses Obama of going green instead of drilling.

Obama brings out the stats showing drilling/production is up, but gas prices aren't going down. Blames big oil for screwing up price wise, and brings up green investment as a way of breaking oil's hold. Makes romney look like a fan of oil.

Romney is then forced to explain why the increased production doesn't matter, as well as defend the oil companies prices.

Obama then trollfaces.

2012-03-12 12:12:00 PM
This is legitimately concerning, but I'd like to see more polling data before I start chewing my nails.

2012-03-12 12:12:14 PM
I'm just going to point out that Obama hasn't started campaigning and leave it at that.

It works well enough to sway a fraction of ignorant independent voters to vote Republican, and that's all the Republicans care about: their own power.

Because he is not Obama.

That is the only platform the GOP has. It has been that way for over 3 years, coincidentally when Obama took office.

It is incredibly difficult to find something the GOP is actually for, some legislation they actually want, but you can name an entire laundry list of things the GOP is against.

Also, subby, you might not want to blow your load quite yet. Obama hasn't started campaigning, when he does you might end up looking silly, jizz all over the place stuck with your dick in your hands.

3 years, 2 months equals 3 1/2? And they say Republicans don't care about education.

Hey when is Fark going to get some articles on the Obama impeachment bill? Or how about articles about Panetta and Dempsey claiming they need no congressional authority to go to war? Or is Fark just full of Obamabots and Obamapologists that they cannot have things of this nature on here?

I have become convinced that Americans are, for the most part, intellectually lazy and have no short term memory. We get the government we deserve.

Really? I would say its the opposite. Especially in a mostly negative primary where the primary candidates' flaws are being repeatedly pointed out.

In fact I heard that argument from Fark Liberals as to one of the reasons Obama would destroy Romney in the general election

New poll shows Romney now leads someone who has not even started campaigning 49-47 among registered voters.

And national popular vote doesn't matter, lets see how lose break down. And what proportion were undecided?

TMYK:

19 refineries have been shut down in the United Stated since 2009 because of falling profits for the refining industry. That is 1.7 million barrels a day less capacity than 3 years ago. Today, American's are consuming 20% less oil than in 2009. Yet, the price of gasoline remains near historical highs.

Go ahead. Give it a shot.

Gas prices are rising largely because of tensions with Iran.

Remind me: which party's candidates are currently beating the drums of war with Iran?

If we're going to get a brokered ticket, let's put the candidate most likely to win out there.

Except that Romney wants to raise your taxes (unless you happen to be incredibly wealthy) and wouldn't mind allowing the government further into your life (like, say, legislating morality).

Let me see if I understand.

When prices got well into the $4 per gallon range during Bush era, everyone on the right was yodeling about how it's a free market economy and people just don't understand commodities.

When prices get up toward $4 per gallon under Obama, it's due to disastrous energy policy.

Did I miss something?

2012-03-12 12:19:19 PM
I wonder if there is any other goods other than gasoline that the small government Republicans would like government to control?

I also wonder if a Democrat wanted the government to step up and make a difference in lowering the crushingly high prices of other essential things, say milk or I dunno... healthcare... how they would feel.
