Well, I've participated. Good luck skill to me.

BTW, why does it even matter? The games are going to suck simply because there will be no Gus Johnson.

HIRE HIM BACK!

I did not know this. March just got a little sadder.

Mentat: Border War III baby!

That would be incredible.

I'm picking MIT to go all the way.

In with "What's a Basketball?". That pretty well describes my knowledge of the sport, so I'll most likely win.

I ran the Fark NCAA tournament last year, and also created a group (but didn't get green-lit this year). I'm not after a turf-war, but if the above group gets too full, here's a link to the backup group.

rule of thumb: if i pick a 3 seed to the final four, they'll lose round 2. if i pick them to lose the first weekend, they'll win the NC. fyi

Boo! Cabrini or bust! My fiancée went there and works the scores table at home games. I've been to see them a bunch of times.

jayhawk88: - Florida State, baby. They tried to gift the East to Syracuse, but I think the Noles steal it.

I can't disagree, Syracuse has shown themselves to be vulnerable.

How much are we putting on the line here?

Fark cred. A lot if you're well known, next to none if you're not. So, it should cost you nothing.

Im in. Although my picks are a bit boring. I have a feeling there wont be any "big" upsets this year and it will play out very close to the seedings.

Good luck to all!

2012-03-12 02:17:18 PM
I'm in. As usual, I went with the reverse jinx for my beloved Jayhawks, which probably won't kill my chances. And I let my blind hatred of that pro-slavery "school" to the east affect my picks, which probably will.

Worth it.

2012-03-12 02:17:25 PM
I'm in. I know practically nothing about college ball, but got lucky last year with VCU and Richmond (homer picks) both making the sweet 16...

Pretty much random guesses all the way through, with a belief that a higher ranked team is better (generally) than a lower ranked team. And of course the occasional flip of a coin.

is Montana any good?
Wisc beat Ohio st there, and is playing better offensively lately.

RPI? Strength of schedule? NBA lottery picks......
Please...keep your fancy bracket selection devices - me and Janet from accounting will pick teams the only tried and proven way...color scheme and cuteness of team mascot.

Sounds about right. It's more fun when your bracket gets shredded in the first two rounds that way, since you know some upsets went around. Plus if you pick a perfect Final Four everyone knows your lying anyways.

I almost always finish in the to 2 or 3 in these things, but I've never been in one with more than 50 participants.

I took first out of 20+ a few years ago, that is my single win.

I expect to fail miserably.

Good luck to you all.

Sadly, this will beat at least 75% of the entries, all of which will have spent much calculation and prognostication.

I'm Canadian, so none of this makes any sense to me, but I'll enter anyway because I like pools.

2012-03-12 03:40:54 PM
well, put in my bracket, expect to get maybe 50% on the first round, and nosedive after that, so same as every year

In with Carolina Blue Jay - representing my 2 alma maters who made the Big Dance (UNC and Creighton).

It was a lot of fun watching FSU beat UNC twice this year.

I miss the simpler days of the office fun pool, where four or eight people draw teams from a hat, and everyone gets at least one #1 or #2. Everyone chips in $10 to play, and someone walks away really happy. It's a great way to improve morale, or even just to break the ice on knowing co-workers better.

I'm in with I Have No Idea What I'm Doing.

I think Memphis is this year's sleeper. Tons of talent, and if they get hot, that's gonna be a scary team. I have them in the Eight.

Sir, either your testicles require a flatbed truck to carry them, or you are certifiably insane. In either case, I salute you.

I'm in. Picks made.

It hurts to see how I ended up in my bracket. I picked Missouri to win it all. Don't fail me now guys!

The only year I did good was when the NC was UNC vs Illinois. I did awesome that year...not so much since.

/will be mathematically eliminated by Thursday morning
//Illini fan...thus why it hurts to pick Missouri

Griz are decent. They beat Weber a couple times toward he end of the year and Weber was picked by some to go far in the tournament because of Lillard (who, by the way, is really good). I hope the griz at least give the badgers some trouble.

2012-03-13 12:48:06 AM
I somehow ended up with Vanderbilt in the final four.... oh well. it was fun while it lasted.

2012-03-13 02:53:18 PM
Gunny Highway: They have been throwing Skinners name around.

It'd be a downward move from a power conference to the A-10. They should be looking at an up-and-comer from a small conference, like a coach from the NEC or MAAC, or an assistant coach. And obviously, Jimmy Sr. was lucky Jimmy Jr. was around, because they would've been where they are now a lot sooner.
