That one.

Still no "Big One" here. Is Vegas one of the tracks where they don't happen all that often?

Seriously, even I, who knows nothing about cars, knew that that wasn't just locked up brakes. I hate Fox's coverage more and more every week.

When you hear the ESPN announcers later on this season, you will be begging for the FOX commentary to resume!

As far as my limited knowledge goes, that's correct.

God wants to see Kurt Busch tantrum. Thats the only reasonable explanation to a tangled airhose after he finally got a lap back

yyyyup. Everyone complains about Fox, until the other networks get NASCAR. Then all of a sudden, everyone wants DW and gang back.

Nope, at Vegas it's all about position and fuel mileage, the drivers simply don't race close enough here to cause them to hit the chrome horn on each other.

catastrophe averted: Igor Jakovsky: Gonz: Is it a sign that I'm getting old when I can no longer work up a passionate dislike of Jeff Gordon?

I think its because he doesnt win a lot anymore or is pushed in your face by NASCAR like he used to be. At least that is how it is for me.

He won 3 races last year. That's pretty much up there! Just not having a good start this season.

True, he had 3 wins last year but only had 4 in the last 4 years. Hes still a good driver to be sure but he is fading imo.

Fox quality has definitely dropped to near-ESPN levels. We used to just like making fun of DW and Digger. Now the actual coverage is noticeably worse.

That's a good point. Maybe TNT & ESPN just make me long Fox by the time we reach November.

I think the Fox producers got the attitude of "Anything ESPN can do, we can do MORE OF!!", and it's showing :(.

Hopefully pack racing will be broken up in Indycar this year. Also, the DW '12 has wheel guards to prevent cars from going flying when they touch. Texas will be the big test.

I hope y'all will join us in a St. Pete Indycar opener thread in a week or two.

It seems to me that any track that can be considered a "cookie-cutter" typically doesn't have big wrecks. They get spread out. Also, it's more of a fuel attrition race than anything.

I could be wrong though.

You make a good point. 3 years ago, FOX had pretty excellent commentary and worked their commercials around what was happening on the race track. Either the announcers are in the early stages of Alzheimers, or they've just $old out to the advertisers.

Hmm, yup. Still better than the other, though.

Sad to say, but I like muting the TV and listening to PRN/MRN the best, whoever's broadcasting.

I still wish *somebody* would at least experiment with raising the wall in non-grandstand areas (just paint it instead of having billboards) or at least *check* to see if a 3 inch thick lexan barrier could handle a flying car.

DW has been available to the highest bidder since roughly the spring Rockingham race in 2001. Larry Mac finally realized how much he hates doing commentary and checked out mentally, and Mike Joy has always been competent but never excellent, and has always struck me as the type that does what he's told. Throw in some NASCAR and FOX corporate dictates, and boom.

Ok, Tony, it's up to you and your crew. Keep the 48 in your rear view mirror, and DON'T end up looking at the rear end of the 48. That's all I ask of you.
