I think there is a good chance that was shopped.
I have a similar level of confidence in the poll numbers, too.

What the hell, Reason? I thought you were cool.

Rasmussen. Pffft. Whatever.

With the perception growing that he will be the GOP nominee

That's the code phrase for Rasmussen to start their program to support Romney.

Oh good, it's Rasmussen poll time again.

What dismays me in this is not the risk that I might be the one buying drinks on election day. It's that no matter who wins, Obamacare, with its individual mandate and cementing of a broken employer/insurance cartel, will never go away. Obamacare is by a country mile the worst thing Barack Obama has accomplished. It is an essential change in the relationship of the state to the individual, and thus its poison is more lethal than all the money the administration has wasted, all the laws it has broken, and all the jumping jacks the first lady has pressured tubby schoolchildren into performing. It was passed in a sordid backstairs intrigue on a Saturday night and is hated not only by libertarians but by normal people too. It is the one agenda item where the Obama Administration has beyond any doubt been worse than a John McCain administration would have been.

OK, that's disturbing on so many levels. Let's begin with who conceived it, followed by who found it on the Web, followed by subby, and then finally, the greeninator.

So Rasmussen says Romney leading Obama by five. By Nate Silver's translation from Rasmussen to English, that means Obama is ahead of Romney by 1 to 3.

I would say that "Libertarian" is what most people are in this country seeing as how most people I know (because, you get to actually interact with people that aren't at a protest or church when you are in the middle) hate what the extreme Left and Right have become.

Liberalism/Conservatism is a hell of a drug.

I'm curious about this "Obama and Romney are the same" narrative they're trying to push. Who is this supposed to benefit, and how?

A wild outlier poll favorable to Rs from Rasmussen right after their "Obama leads in 4 key swing states" poll got a little more ink than they'd like?

The heck you say!

propasaurus: I'm curious about this "Obama and Romney are the same" narrative they're trying to push. Who is this supposed to benefit, and how?

It benefits Republicans. Old people always vote and they usually vote Republican. A "both sides are the same" narrative depresses voters and so infrequent voters like young people and poor people won't show up in great numbers. This slants the voting population towards old Republicans. It's the same reason conservatives want voter ID. A barrier to vote, or really anything the gets fewer people to vote, benefits Republicans.
