More_Like_A_Stain: Why are they changing the name to begin with? Is it due to a change in administration/direction, or something that might actually have some validity in regard to the university's future reputation? Or is it a paid sponsorship, like a stadium? Because nothing will lend gravitas to a diploma ten years down the line, than to have it be issued by Rutgers Gold Bond Medicated Crotch Powder University.

The state is merging Rutgers-Camden with Rowan-Camden into one school. Rutgers-Camden was formed by the merger of the South Jersey Law School and the college of South Jersey and Rowan-Camden is a satellite school of Rowan.

It will open up rutgers camden rowan to more federal funding then the two would generate combined as stand alone schools and allow it to join the Association of American Universities.

Rowan was called Glasboro until Henry Rowan left the university 100 million dollars or so like 10-15 years ago...some of the stipulations of the endowment called for creating and improving its research capabilities, engineering classes and whatnot.

I would like to see an un-edited video.

I am fairly confident it was Christie being the jackass, but without the whole video I am nto sure.

Oh so because he works for 'you', you have a free pass to take up as much time as you want to arguing in a public forum, and can never be told to shut up arrested.

Better.

Additional video (new window)

Looks like this Brown fellow likes to confront Christie at open forums. Fair enough it is open.

But let's realize these are 2 professional politicians, not just some innocent student trying to speak truth to power.

And more: William Brown, Navy SEAL and Rutgers Law student speaks at peaceful protest. (new window)

Interesting how these all identify him as a student and former Navy Seal only, and NONE of these identify him as a professional politician who runs as a Democrat.

Dishonest and a lie of omission.

I still want the entire exchange from start to finish, without edits convenient to Bill Williams political ambitions

DarthBrooks: Mentat: Why do they want to rename Rutgers? And when does Cory Booker take over?

It's not the "real" Rutgers in New Brunswick. It's Rutgers-Camden. They want to merge Rutgers-Camden and Rowan University so it'll be called "Rutgers-Camden Rowan."

Don't quite understand what all the fuss is about.

Because Rutgers is a well-known school. Rutgers-Camden is one of the Rutgers Campuses, like the one in Newark. Merging w/Rowan (which used to be Glassboro University until some guy gave them a boatload of money with the condition they change to school to his name) would be like merging NYU-PolyTech with Long Island University. Nobody's heard of Long Island University but NYU certainly carries a good recognition value.

I'm wondering if they can't merge & just call it Rutgers because of the strings attached to the Rowan donation.

James F. Campbell: You know who doesn't like it when people say things you don't like? Narcissists. I've found that those with narcissistic personality disorder often resort to bullying and even violence to get people to shut up. Screaming "Shut up" is as blatant a warning as you can get. No surprise that a governor would have a personality disorder.

Because shouting down the person trying to answer your question is a sign of humility and class.

Funny how Republicans love to send kids off to war, but don't like to deal with the consequences, huh? When Christie is talking about how the merger will lead to a bigger and better university you can hear Brown trying to talk over him in the background.....thats when christie finally asks him if he was there to put on a show.....even HuffPo claims thats what happened.

The situation escalated into a shouting match, and Brown continued to make his argument while Christie was speaking,

Seals are pussies....when I was in the core I was part of operational attachment Sigma which is like orders of magnatude greater then delta force.

In my mind, the world is split neatly into two groups: meat-eaters and plant-eaters. Nothing is wrong with either one. Both are necessary. One contributes much, much more to society than the other. The other is necessary to protect the contribution. I'm a meat-eater. My existence allows the plant-eater to contribute. Some plant-eaters, living in a so-called civilized world, call me evil, but at the end of the day, when the bad man comes and the plant-eater's praying for a miracle, I'm what shows up.

MAYORBOB: WhackingDay: I'm no Christie fan, but geez... you get a chance to put him to the question and the only major issue you can think to ask about is a name change for Rutgers University? Pathetic.

The most pathetic thing is having an institution of higher learning in a shiathole like Camden.

Camden is indeed breathtakingly awful. I've been in "ghettos" all over the country, and Camden makes the rest of them look like The Ritz. Truly spectacular in its scope of societal fail.
