5Nickels: Do you think Obama wanting more and more for spending programs is going to help the left come November? Do you think the right wanting more and more control of a woman's womb is going to help them? Ergo, it goes both ways.

Does that help clarify?

If you look like one thread over, you'll see a news item about the Obama administration wanting to stay within the negotiated budget limits and the GOP wanting to break them and run us further over budget.

So... looks like that issues actually going the same way.

Now let me just make sure I'm clear on the matter, but this was from a time when he and a man who participates in cockfights were discussing the sport?

Wat?

The thing that really gets me is that this guy is basically saying "Well since they're killing babies, guess that means it's ok for me to have cock fights."

lennavan: 5Nickels: lennavan: 5Nickels: Republicans don't dictate your care either. You win nothing.

You mean other than the whole GOP forced ultrasound, forced seeing heartbeat, legislator written forced paragraph doctors must read in abortion? Sure, there's always the current debate about not just not providing insurance for but allowing states to ban contraception entirely.

So what did I win?

Still win nothing. Are you referring to the wacko State rep this goofy thread is referring to? I'm pretty sure none of what you said is law, so, no soup for you.

Well, the forced ultrasounds, heartbeats and paragraphs are indeed have been written by a variety of states, all by the Republicans, sure. But banning a medical procedure has been a national issue for many politicians.

And the number 2 Republican presidential candidate is the one suggesting states should be allowed to ban contraception entirely.

I'm sorry you didn't know the GOP was so bad, that the GOP has stuck itself between you and your doctor. This must be a truly sad day for you. Tell you what, you can keep my prize for yourself to cheer you up.

The #2 candidate? Really? Why do you think I care what he sugests? And my doctor was a customer of mine before I was a patient of his. I remodeled his entire house 9 years ago, so I get free doctor/patient care.

5Nickels: the_vegetarian_cannibal: 5Nickels: the_vegetarian_cannibal: 5Nickels: born_yesterday: INeedAName: Keep screaming GOP. The more you push this point, the more college-aged women will turn out to vote Democrat this year.

I just can't for the life of me see how they think they can WIN here. All but the most extreme anti-abortion activists have always allowed exceptions for the life of the mother, and the Supreme Court has made its position on this clear. This position was considered inarguable until this year? How many ADDITIONAL voters over the base do they think they're winning over?

This is a disastrous situation for any moderate (R) running this year. The only thing that makes sense to me is that this is a money-grab for limited funds from far right donors. "Look at me--I'm the derpiest!". This strategy fails at any level other than putting money in the pockets of individual politicians.

Yo, dipshiat, this is a STATE rep., not a national one. Way to run off the rail with your rant about the derpiest (nice intellect BTW). Do you live in his district? No! Then STFU.

So? Just because they are Republicans at the state level means that they are not considered Republicans anymore?

Good God, one runs off the rail, you say "FLOOR IT"!

Wow, you must be so proud of your crappy nonsensical metaphor to still be insistently pushing it on multiple posts. Talk about "flooring it" after running off the rail.

But that aside, you still have yet to explain how something a state Republican Party does apparently "doesn't count." As far as I know, the Georgia GOP is an official state branch of the national GOP. Were you under the impression that they aren't affiliated organizations or something?

What one guy says on the GA State House floor doesn't make it National law, which is what you and others seem to think this thread is about.

1. As numerous other posters and I have tried to spell out for you, it's not something that "one guy said." It's an actual bill that just passed the state house and is on the way to becoming state law.

2. Who in this thread (except you) has said that the debate should only be limited to national law? For a guy who's shilling to defend the party of "states' rights," you sure are insistent on trying to argue that only federal laws are relevant to the issue and that state laws apparently "don't count."

5Nickels: The #2 candidate? Really? Why do you think I care what he sugests?

Because this is what the Republicans actually believe.

Government interfering in medical care has become law in many Republican controlled states, directly because of the Republicans. Forced medical procedures.

Dahnkster: What's worse than a male chauvinistic pig?
A woman that won't do what she's told.

Why do women have periods?
Because they deserve them.

What's it called when a woman is paralyzed from the waist down?
Marriage.

Why do women have tits?
So men will talk to them.

Why couldn't Helen Keller drive?
She was a woman.

Why do women have such little feet?
So they can stand closer to the sink!

Why was the woman crossing the road?
Who cares? What the fark's the biatch doing out of the kitchen?

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes?
Nothing. You already told her twice.

What's the difference between your paycheck and your dick?
You don't have to beg a woman to blow your paycheck.

Why do women close their eyes during sex?
They can't stand to see a man having a good time.

How do you make your wife scream for an hour after sex?
Wipe your dick on the curtains.

How do you make a woman scream twice?
fark her in the ass, then wipe your dick on the curtains.

Ah, so your point now is that debate on an issue or legislative bill should be entirely forbidden and disregarded until the very moment it becomes an actual law? So by your logic, all of Tea Partiers who were out biatching and protesting about Obamacare for an entire year in 2009 were all stupid and pointless and shouldn't have been complaining about it then?

You know, since Obamacare didn't become signed into law until March 2010?

Blisterlips: I've said this in here before-

a good friend found out in her fifth month that the baby she carried was so deformed it would most likely die before it came to term, would certainly not make a week after birth, and could pose a significant risk to her life should she try to deliver it naturally at the end of her term. They chose to end the pregnancy. This law would mean she would have had to spend months walking around, knowing there was no hope, looking at the ultrasound photos that showed the baby's catastrophic deformities (ever seen an ultrasound of a baby with no brain and less than half a face?) watching her dead baby grow- knowing it there was a good chance it would kill her.

Yeah, she totally deserved to have that experience.

fark these guys so goddamned hard.

Something very similar to this happened to a friend of mine. The baby was non-viable and attempting to continue to carry it to term would have killed her.
These laws would have meant months of pure despair all starting down at her own death while being forced to watch the ultrasound of the horror unfolding.
Even worse is that if under these laws she had gone to a Catholic hospital they wouldn't even have told her about it and let her die, and even would have prevented her from going to another hospital to get treatment.

There are so many reasons to say fark these guys, but THAT reason alone is enough.

fark these guys. fark them and their little star chamber cadre of old virgins who hate women and fear vaginas.

In fairness, I read the bill and it does make exception for threat to the mother's life. The bill is horrid, but it's best to construct arguments on what's actually in it. Major pointers are that they

a.) won't allow for abortions after 20 weeks unless there's:
- Threat to the mother's life (threat does not include suicide)
- Having the baby might impact major biological functions in the mother (no idea what major biological functions include).

b.) Only allows abortions to be performed in a licensed hospital (presumably excluding clinics like PP)

c.) If the fetus is deemed viable when aborted the hospitals are required by law to give all life saving care needed.

There was this really quite horrifying Masters of American Horror episode called "The Screwfly Solution" where men started forming crazy cults in order to justify an increasing amount of violence against women. It got to the point where women were being murdered en masse across the world. It's based on a short story. I've both read the short story and watched the show. Either one is brutal. It's just brutal.

What's happening now with Republicans reminds me of "The Screwfly Solution," and it horrifies me.

I agree with you that we need to stick to what the bill means- but a problem I have with it is simple- every pregnancy comes with certain risks to the woman. When does the risk become dire enough to allow for termination? thirty percent chance of mortality? fifty percent? Regulating how much risk is enough to allow a woman the choice to end a pregnancy is incredibly intrusive. They shouldn't have the right to say "you only have a 15% chance of mortality if you carry this doomed baby to term, so you're just going to have to take risk."
