Yes do this in the middle of the primaries. DO IT!

ah the changing of the seasons: trees begin to bud, snow gives way to grass, obama shifts from being a power-mad tyrant to a feckless and ineffective empty suit.

FTA: The question is whether they're delusional enough to think it's a good idea just months before an election, when they're already facing unprecedented disapproval numbers with the voting public.

You're kidding, right?

Any sentence that includes the phrase "are Republicans delusional enough to..." you can answer "yes" even without knowing the verb and have at least an 85% chance of being correct.

You know, maybe it's because I've stopped huffing paint, but I really want to know *why* anyone would want this. It doesn't make sense to me, like a fat person cutting off his own leg to prevent diabetes.

It makes sense if your biggest donors are all people that don't want to believe in global warming and only care about how much money they make in the next 3 years.

Would it be elitist of me to want anyone running for the congress to take and pass a GED before being put on the ballot?

I suppose so, but that relies on a huge mass of people to be so uninformed, misinformed and ignorant as to believe even the most ridiculous of suggestions.

Well, they believe that less government is better, right?
Therefore no government is best.
I'm not one of them, so I can't get into that headspace enough to fully explain why they still consider themselves patriots and not anarchists (probably has something to do with the military) but you could probably lurk on breitbart or freerepublic and get some idea.

2) If govenment shuts down, then we will no longer be taxed too much
3) PROFIT

I just can't wrap my head around those kinds of things. Maybe it's because when I think those kinds of things to their logical conclusion, the people that seem to espouse those kinds of ideas would be some of the first to lose out.

/Maybe I'm just pissed because the like minded a-holes at the state legislature are holding up transit funding, which means my bus route is going to be cut

It's because the folks who go for this sort of thing *don't* think it all the way through.

They get to step #2 and then fail to realize that step # 3 isn't so simple.

Most of those sorts of folks also tend to think that they're much more self-reliant than they actually are.

The sane conservatives need to swallow their pride, ditch the religious right rhetoric, join the Democratic party, and wait a few terms until the Democrats split along entirely new (and more reasonable) policy lines into the New Conservatives and the Progressives.

See, that's one of the reasons that I'm pissed about them cutting my bus route: the same transportation bill that would fund my bus route, funds the state police to patrol the towns in the state who don't have their own forces and don't share with a neighboring community. It's like they want the services, but they don't want the responsibility. Again: I don't think they've thought this all the way through.

Yeah, it's like the folks who don't want to pay their portion for a standing Fire Department, but instead just want to write out a check only when they need them (which, again, harkens back to the book I'm reading where the states during the Articles of Confederation days didn't want to pay for a standing Navy, even though our trade routes were getting raided on a regular basis and we were paying ridiculous tributes to the same pirates to stop).

np. I kinda wish I had gotten the non-Kindle version, as I've recently decided that in spite of how convenient book handling is for me on my iPad2, nothing beats the physical feeling of a book (and the smell, for that matter).

My problem with the Kindle (I tried one last November, before I got the iPad) was that the eInk stuff everyone was raving about really wasn't that great to my eye. The contrast just wasn't good for me. I also tried the Nook Color and was easier to read, but it's Android stuff was kinda meh. So, I ended up shelling out for the iPad2 and I use it *constantly*.

It doesn't feel/smell like a book though.

What is the matter with these guys. Don't they know that when all of your credit cards are maxed out, the only solution is to get more credit cards and keep spending.

Saying your personal finances are the same as the governments is still the dumbest right wing talking point of the last 3 years, which is basically the Dumb Right Wing Talking Point Renaissance. How many times does this need to get shot down before people stop using it?

Yes, they are that stupid. And Cantor is that power-hungry.Boehner, for all the rhetoric, isn't that stupid, but he's not in control of anything at this point. You can expect the Tea Folks to go particularly insane if Romney is the nominee and he doesn't placate them with a TP VP

Doing it while nobody is paying attention to politics? Meh, only those that were paying attention in the first place will remember. But during an election season would be suicide... maybe they're hoping to take Obama down with him. Kamikaze! Who knows. I'm going to run out of popcorn.

Why is it that these fiscal "conservatives" are always clamoring for domestic spending cuts but are happy with the skyrocketing military budget?

Because socialism.

Personally, I think they're trying to compensate for something else.
