I kept it down to a 32. Got laid after prom.

My son ot a 33, full ride to Alabama.

What is this "prom" you speak of, Subby?

Nightsweat: I kept it down to a 32. Got laid after prom.

Dammit
- so it was the 33 that ruined my chance!

I don't get it, are they the only ones to get a perfect score this year? We had 2 kids get 1600's on their SAT's from my high school back in the day and it was a pretty average high school. Is the ACT harder or something?

I guess I'm asking why this is news on Fark?

My prediction is that everyone in this thread will have scored a 32 or 33. It's amazing how many people can fit into the 99th percentile!

/Scored a 33.

I scored a -2 on my ACT. Apparently you can lose points for misspelling your name.

2012-03-09 05:12:12 PM
I'm guessing there is a Tiger Mom involved in all of this.

I guess I'll screw up your prediction. I got a 27.

Don't recall my scores. My ACT was high enough to get my state's $2K/year scholarship thingie.

CSB:

When I 'accidently' flunked out of college, I entered the local community college that summer to work my way back. I was quick enough that the CC got the ACT-scholarship transferred over to them before the University could report to the state I'd flunked out and to rescind the scholarship.

/go me
//two big mistakes in my pre-20s years, that was the biggest one.

Only got a 31. Did better on the ACT than the SAT for some reason.

2012-03-09 05:20:24 PM
What the hell is ACT? I took the SATs, don't 'member no ACT though...

2012-03-09 05:26:42 PM
I got a 26.
There. I was honest, Fark.

ACT is like a Liberal Arts degree.

Might as well have said a full ride to nowhere

35, and I got laid after prom, too!

/3 years after, but that still counts, right?

2012-03-09 05:31:27 PM
Never took the ACT, never took the SAT. Still got into a real college.

Probably helped I had the GE out of the way for the EE program.

I got a 30, but I took acid the night before

/It was the 70's
//Best score in my class that year

I got a 30. My high school GPA was 2.8. Every single college entrance interview I had asked me how the hell I placed in the 90+ percentile on the test but couldn't maintain a B average. I responded that I didn't see the need to turn in homework when I could get A's on the tests without it.

/got accepted everywhere I applied

Sober scored a 21
Drunkish scored a 26
This bit of knowledge helped out later in college.

Took SAT once and scored 1400. Since I was a stoner/slacker I did not see the need to wake up early any more Saturdays for that shiat.

31. Not that it did me any good aside from getting into school...

According to a press release from ACT, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of all test takers earn the top score. In 2011, only 704 students of more than 1.6 million test-takers earned a 36.

Considering that last year's numbers are less than 1/200th of 1% (0.0044%), can we safely assume that America's youths are getting dumber?

There were two people from the backwoods county I grew up in that got 36s the year I graduated. Not seeing the excitement here.

/ did ok too

Oh yeah well I got a perfect score on the ASVAB and harrassing calls from every branch of the military after that. hmmmmmmmmm. Well I m gonna go drink now.

groppet: Oh yeah well I got a perfect score on the ASVAB and harrassing calls from every branch of the military after that. hmmmmmmmmm. Well I m gonna go drink now.

I took that and scored very well on everything except auto repair. I didn't have any intention of joining the military, it was just the first aptitude test my school ever offered. Those military recruiters don't take no for an answer until you move or your number changes.

Really? I just told the recruiter that it should be obvious from my score that I was going to college.

Never heard from him again.

Jeebus - the Navy would not leave me alone for about 5 years after the ASVAB, wanting me to join their Nuclear program. I had no desire to be sitting next to a reactor while being a potential target for things that go boom.

2012-03-09 07:18:10 PM
It was either a 32 or a 33, I forget. I certainly did much better than I did on the SAT.

2012-03-09 07:26:56 PM
I scored a 25 which was high enough to get into college, never tried again. I don't like having to pay to take tests.

/had to pay to take the placement tests in college
//was sick and fell asleep during my ACTs, still happy with it

I told the recruiter that and got sent a list of schools with ROTC programs.

//1490 SAT

34 as I recall. Helped me land a sweet academic scholarship that made college affordable.

2012-03-09 08:19:32 PM
26 or 28, somewhere in there. Enough for a half scholarship, of course I went to a state school so that was like $500 in savings. woo.

Did better on my GRE, but no scholarship for that one.

2012-03-09 08:36:23 PM
I didn't realize that it was that big of a deal. My H.S. girlfriend got a 36, and one of the tuba players in band got a perfect score, too.

I got a 26. Just asked my wife, she got a 21. She makes way more money than I do.

I can't remember what I scored on my ASVAB (me & my friends called it "ass valve"), but it was high enough that I had Army and Navy recruiters calling me non-stop for 2 or 3 months. Unfortunately for them, I'm a cocksucking pacifist.

2012-03-09 09:13:14 PM
I scored e.

I got a perfect score

on the physics part

/jesus that was a long time ago

I scored a 24. Got me accepted into DePaul. Glad I opted for U of I @ Chicago at the last minute. Saved a boat load of cash and probably did way more drugs. :-/

This.
It's ok though, after I figured out I didn't want to program for a living I dropped out and got my MCSE which landed me my first job before the dot.bomb and more than a decade later I'm still doint IT and making close to six figures in the midwest =)

/1420 SAT

28 here. 1300 on the GRE six years later. I guess I became dumber in college.

2012-03-09 10:48:45 PM
32

Took it completely baked.

/Whoa, duude.

2012-03-09 11:13:39 PM
Well... I got a 36. Apparently you can get a 36 while still missing one question. Only a 1540 on the SAT when it was still out of 1600. Got jack-all for it though. Illinois ran out of money that year so I didn't get their $1000 State Scholar thing.

/went to prom with an acquaintance and it was pretty damn lonely
